ripple
No problem. But you'll still crash, eventually , because CTDs happen even with vanilla Skyrim (and more because it's now heavily modded), but hopefully we can remove the causes of CTDs one by one until they become infrequent enough that your game is as stable as it can be given the circumstances. Kiois
It still crashes more regularly than it should do. I just got about ten minutes game play from it before it CTD. I have even turned down the graphical settings from high to medium.

EDIT:
I searched the forums and found that turning down the shadow to low detail apparently helps. I did that also and the game still crashed to desktop after about ten minutes play.
Edited April 16, 2013 by Kiois
Kiois
Okay final update. I was just able to play Skyrim for about 40 odd minutes without any problems. I would suggest that it thus works :) Thanks, you have been great!
ripple
Good to hear. If your game continues to be stable then it would indicate this is a GPU issue (since it's somewhat old). You can also try changing 'iShadowMapResolutionPrimary' to '1024', which may allow you to turn the slider graphic settings back to high. It might also make your game looks less pretty than if you were just using a lower shadow slider setting with the shadow resolution value at '2048', I am not sure, but this is something you can play around with to see which works best. HeyYou
I would also seriously consider updating video drivers..... no information on what version he has, but, I would guess, older....

I have no problem with the quality at the moment, to be honest. Yes, shamefully this computer is a little dated. Over the summer, I will be investing money and getting a nice few upgrades: Greater RAM, SSD. better graphics card etc I would also seriously consider updating video drivers..... no information on what version he has, but, I would guess, older.... Thank you, I will also do this. :)
Kiois
Right it CTD again, but this time not straight to desktop but rather I had to restart my computer. I am going to give up playing Skyrim until I get my computer upgraded - I'll just clean install everything. I have a hunch that Dawnguard is to blame (I never experienced a single crash until Dawnguard) and to think I paid for it.

ESM loading will always have a higher priority than ESP's, no matter how you position them in your load order.
