UnholyShadow
I'm curious as to how low of an fps people will play with. I'll play with 20 fps, but it's pretty annoying.
Balakirev
I'm curious as to how low of an fps people will play with. I'll play with 20 fps, but it's pretty annoying. Yes, I find about 30 necessary to enjoy the game without feeling in the back of my mind as though my character is walking through sludge. Mind, there's a gent out there that runs Oblivion with all the graphics fully opened up, including extras in mods, plus Better Cities, and distributes the load across several hard drives. He still gets 12-15 FPS, and considers it a success. So each to their own.
AzirAphale001
I'm lucky if I can run it at 20 FPS, my computers not very good. And Frostmourne slows it down a lot as well.
dezdimona
I run an average of 35-40 using MMM, midas magic, Bartholm and Dexwoods saga, along with many smaller mods
Dantrag_tc
I usually get from between 20 to 40 fps depending on the situation, sometimes it does drop to about 10 fps but that still seems pretty smooth when not in combat (Oblivion is a rather slow game, so there is no real need for 60 fps or so to enjoy the game like with some first person shooters). The occasional 10 fps drops are a result of the streamline-mod cleaning up the buffers and logging them but in general the game is still pretty smooth for me even if the fps drops a bit. If you are having fps issues, don't use mods like Qarl's texture pack, enchanted weather, natural environments, open cities etc. All of those tremendously increase the strain on your computer and graphics card. Instead try to use low poly grass, operation optimization, streamline etc that work for removing fps issues with standard models, such as making the basic town meshes a bit more simple, without losing detail and cleaning up the buffer zone's etc
alex2avs
heh.. in Testing hall I get up to 50+ fps .. but normally I get about 7 while using Qarl ,and other texture improver mods , but it still looks good and it's not too laggy
Unavi
i put the graphics od "very high" last day just to se my how good could i play. I expected like 5 - 10 fps but i acctualy got almost the same fps as before (i had all the fade things on low, no blur hdr or anything.) I'm quite happy with my 30-40 fps outdoors but it is a bit of a pain in the ass when i am in a middle of a fight with less that 20 ! :wallbash: but anyway, i've dicovered just now how this game is beautiful! Germandeathkittiez
The mods don't seem to effect my Oblivion fps, though they ruin the gameplay completely (which is another story). Mod glitches may be seriously adding to the problem, but 15-30 fps (when in air) with general drops to about 9 - 12 just isn't fast enough for me. It takes me about 5 hours to complete a Shivering Isles quest on ps3 (god knows why) and that runs wicked fast. I can't run mods like open better cities without serious lag; I think overall the lag is bad for the gameplay as it cuts a lot of soundfiles out, so there's just silence when you kill someone, which among other things ruins the game entirely for me. Maybe it's just my pc, but any lag at all completely diminishes gameplay. I'd need to run this game at at least twice the fps to get the true enjoyment out of it. sool32
I have all my settings all maxed execpt for shadows which are disabled. I have HDR on though. I also manually set up AA to 4x and AF to 16x, on Nvidia Control Panel. Im able to run it at 30FPS outdoors, and 40-50 FPS indoors and in caves. I have all the optimization mods except for streamline(dont like it). And my rig is a Athlon 3800 X2 , 4gb , 8600 gt, vista. EDIT: I just had it drop to 20 FPS, near a oblivion gate with 5 enemies attacking me
