Mkilbride
So I got it all modded up now. What about .ini edits and such to improve graphics, fix suttering, and things like that? I recall Oblivion having a lot of such things. Any such vital things for Skyrim? My system: 2500K @ 4.5GHZGTX670 SLI(2GB)128GB SSDWindows 7 64-bit Do I also need those old HAL mods for better performance? One of the reasons I ask, is I remember when this game came out, people talking about horrible shadows and needing to change some config file to make them look good. Also, at the intro scene, while on the cart, my VRAM hit 1950MB...after a few minutes, nearly maxing out...I still had 51+ FPS, but it felt like alot less...GPU usage on both was round 70-80%. Most games when I run out of VRAM...my FPS slows to a crawl.
gsmanners
I imagine Oblivion would play pretty darn smoothly even without tweaks on that system. As for Skyrim, all you need is a nice fast CPU, and you can have all the shadows you want. Fast enough, and it's a matter of finding the right ENB and/or lighting overhaul mods. With a system like mine (near the minimum required) I pretty much have to remove all the lights if I want nice and smooth gameplay.
