artificialsloth
I run the game on low settings with the texture quality on high and a few texture mods without to much fps loss from the unmoded game with the default low settings. Right now my fps is about 8-11 rarely do I get up to 15. I want to know if there's any mods that can help get my fps to around 15 or 20. Also I tend to drop to 5 around certain types of lighting. jeruk3
I'd suggest lowering everything to the lowest possible if you're getting that low of a framerate. Also, how do you manage to play with that low an FPS? I can't play at 40. But here are some mods that could help your FPS: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32505 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15123Try this also: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/814 This is basically a more advanced version of options for skyrim. You can change a lot from here such as shadow quality, etc. Also, this is another good mod to improve performance. Just read the instructions on getting the fps boost: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33582 Another way to get a bit more FPS is to set Windows for best performance. To do this on Win7 first click on start, then control panel, click on "System and Security", then click "System" and then click on "Advanced System Settings" on the a list to the left. Once you click that a window will appear and under performance, click on settings and check the "Adjust for best performance" This will make things look ugly and give you a Windows 2000 theme, but it should give you a boos of 5-10 FPS. Naturlich68
I use Project Optimisation, I guess it helps, but since it's indoors where FR is usually better anyway.. but having it optimise interior cells is a good thing so it's worth having. One big problem I found that can seriously hit FR are textures, so I use Optimizer Textures by AdPipino http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801 I think it's an excellent program and really makes a big difference in my own experience. As an example, I've just started the game over from the beginning, but using Tropical Skyrim, and it killed my frame rate. Thing was, it was filling the RAM on my graphic card because it uses textures that have little or no compression, and LOTS of them. I ran the textures through Optimiser set to medium with mipmaps and I went for a crippling 10-15fps to a usable (though still slow) 20-30fps. Point is, thats a big gain for a heavy duty mod. You can run Optimiser to optimise all your textures and also textures in BSA files, and it will backup your current files for you in case you have issues. Seriously, give it a go. It would be helpful though, if you could tell us your basic system specs, ie: CPURAMGraphic CardGraphic Card RAM size Contrary to popular belief, Skyrim runs amazingly well on low end machines, but once you start putting in the mods you can get really bad performance issues, and also if you're a high level character (ie lots of play hours), lots of clutter can build up, even stuff you are carrying or having loads of stuff stored, and all that can add to slowdown. Naturlich68
Cool, so we know for sure your system can handle skyrim, not sure about that graphic card though, so it sounds like it's onboard? They aren't usually the best solution, but as I said I've found Skyrim runs very well on most systems, and with 1.7gb vram thats handy too. I figure going through the optimasation mods listed above should help, but it might also be worth running a benchmark like 3DMark Vantage to gauge your system. Still, without optimisation mods there are alot of ini file tweaks that can be done that would really help, I don't have a link handy but if you google it you should find some really good tweak guides out there :)
Kyranio
I run it on 8 fps or something aswell... Playing is fine for me... But i am also looking for great optimization mods, because i have Evereything down to the lowest and i have 8 - 14 fps. When in big battle it will be even lower... :l

I know this thread is old and i found it after a google search looking for ways to increase skyrim performance, but seriously, you can't play at 40 fps? Your eyes can't physically tell a difference between 25 and 40 fps. We conceive motion at around 12-15. man im running the game with 15-17 fps and 20 fps max, and it hurts my eyes after a while, i don't know how your eyes surive in 8-11 fps, take care of those eyes bro. 8 frames does hurt. I've been there and done that.

The difference is vast, and even 40 to 60 is a huge upgrade. Not only in terms of smooth visuals, but also in responsive control.
