Because there are no other offensive words so the creator of that comic had to use "f@&#!t" I hope one day it'll become a taboo like "n!@#&£".

Sorry, that totally ruined the joke for me.

In a way it was. I totally dislike that word, and other 'gay' words used as a derogatory term. There's way too much evidence that civilization is evolving backwards and stuff like this contributes to it.

ya the that word in general, but the concept was what i was looking at, kind of past the whole crude word like the one mentioned on the first post. Edited by Thor.

So what? Its a joke and in this day and age these kinds of words have very obviously evolved well past their original meanings. Getting caught up over it is just clinging to the past and lets the kind of people who still use this word and others like it in the old way win.

Christians called people like me heathens and pagans as an insult. We've come to adopt it as a badge of honor. You can all either do the same, or get over it. Letting these words mean anything offensive to you defeats you.

That's the problem with these things, some words do evolve for the purpose of humour and endearment but this one still comes across as aggressive for gay people, even if some straight people don't notice as it's just a re-invention of the old playground humour (i'm nearly 30, and in high school my crowd considered this mentality dated). I know the joke was innocently motivated and noone is judging you...aaaaaanyway, back to the topic/joke :whistling:

fag·got Noun /ˈfagət/

f@&#!ts plural

  • offensive. A male homosexual
Web definitions
  • f@&!t: offensive term for an openly homosexual man
f@&#!t, often shortened to fag, is a pejorative term broadly meaning an effeminate gay man. It is a common slur used chiefly in North America against gay males and its use has spread from the United States to varying extents elsewhere in the English-speaking world through mass culture, including movies, music, and the Internet.

I am not trying to be a smartass, I get the joke and its funny if you put non-transparent sellotape over that word.

What I'm trying to say is that you wouldn't like it if your sexual preference is used as a common word for insulting people. I hear it every day many times in 2 different languages. Do you remember the times when black people were called "ni**ers"? Imagine if that was a general insult and people said it to everybody, not just black skinned ones.

After people use your own sexual preference as a word of insult, you start feeling a bit out of place and get hurt you know...

That said, nobody is judging you in particular at all, i realize that things like these are really just details and people dont notice them at first.

And it isn't dated.

People are still fighting for their rights just because of that little difference in who they like they were born with. Others are still holding up signs "God hates fags". Just like they did some time ago with "God hates ni**ers".

In 50 years maybe, hopefully it will be dated and forgotten, just like the n word for the most part.

////back on topic, im sorry for starting an off topic debate, no offense to the OP
