Dragonite1337
Let me be more specific, I mean just the factions. I'm going to be a Vampire Lord eventually anyway (You can ask Serana to make you one after you finish the questline as a Dawnguard member). I'm a spellsword with heavy armor, which means I use destruction in one hand and a sword in the other. Please don't forget stuff like Harkon's blade, or the weapons/armor you get from the Dawnguards (Excluding the crossbow). Thanks in advance
TheObstinateNoviceSmith
I playd as Dawnguard but had Serana turn me into a Vampire Lord in the end just to see what all the hubbub was about and now I am going to make a character just to be a Vampire Lord as my current one would never do such a thing. But Dawnguard made Vampirism pretty cool which is frustrating because I'm prolly the one person that wasn't "bitten" (cheesy jokes make the world go round) by the vampire fad thing so vampires of any kind tend to irritate me. I'm all about being a werewolf though but without a mod of somekind I do feel like being a werewolf in Skyrim is lame and insignificant and that Dawnguard actually made that moreso. So as things stand, I gotta say that it is cooler to be with Harkon even though I have not done it yet but even if you join with Harkon, I'm pretty sure you have to kill the guy anyway and would still end up with the sword but I don't know. Well werewolf is kind of out of the question, you see I'm the kind of guy who never uses the stuff he can only use once a day because of the fear that I may have to use it later (that and I put 0 points in stamina) lol. And while I agree, being with Harkon definitly tickles the evil lore-loving side of me fancy, I am trying to think more gameplay wise, so like if I only get 2 handed weapons and armor that I'll never use for being a Dawnguard and Vampire Lord enhancements from the VLs, then I probably want to go with the VLs.Thing is, I don't really know about what you get and what you don't from both factions too much, which is why I'm asking here =P Edited April 26, 2013 by Dragonite1337
TheObstinateNoviceSmith
The Ring of Hiricine allows you to change whenever you want if you're a werewolf but getting back on topic Lol With the Dawnguard group I know you get to buy armored trolls and there's different kinds of crossbow bolts that you get as well if you do some of their side quests like explosive ones. From what I've seen, the benefits with joining Harkon are all in the being a Vampire Lord thing. Have you seen the perk tree for them and a list of their powers? Well I use destruction and swords, so I'll probably have 0 use for the crossbow, and I'm not really a big fan of followers (except for Serana, I love me a portable bloodcursed arrows bank) as they tend to get in the way of my attacks, so it really comes down to the items... ClockworkBard
I don't remember there being much in the way of items that were different between the factions other than the whole crossbow suite of things. For example, both sides can get Harkon's blade. Only a vampire benefits from it, so if you pickpocket it off of him (I don't think it's equipped, so you can get it with a high PP skill level and an affinity for the Quick-Load button), the vampire lord side can get and use it near the beginning. The Dawnguard side has to wait until the end when you can get turned without the Dawnguard pitching a fit and putting an all-stop on your quest progression.Likewise, the faction armors are available to both sides as well. Since you're attacked so frequently by the opposing side, it's pretty easy to have your pick of their wardrobe. Like Harkon's Blade, the "Vampire Royal Armor", coveted for being light armor with Expert Robes quality magicka regen, also eventually drops for both sides. (Edit: Now that I think about it, Harkon's Sword may be too hard to pickpocket on the vanilla game, depending on its gold value. I might have been using a mod that made item value less important for pickpocket when goofing off with such things.) ayberkos
I have already killed the vampire lord :)
Nodtveidt
I would choose the Dawnguard, why? because you kill the most powerful vampire family and if they are beaten you can ask Serana to be a Vampire Lord, then You are the most powerful Vampire in Skyrim.....
