New Notification System Is A Bit Wonky

My notifications aren't working properly.

First off, when I get one and click on it, I get a red warning flashing, too quick to read, but something about a 'connection error'

Then it will take me to the page. But..

The message might disappear. Or be replaced by another.

This morning I had 2 notifications.

I clicked the first one, it took me there, but the second one disappeared.

I did a manual search for the second ones author, went to the image, commented on it, then got a new notification to say that that author had posted the image.

I clicked on the new notification, was taken back to the same image, then was informed that I had 4 new notifications. 2 were new, the other 2 were the same ones I got this morning. Crazy!

The warning is caused by a bug in Firefox. Basically it doesn't properly handle network requests made as the page is transitioning.

 

I'm not really sure why you're seeing things moving around. What your describing is just not how the system works. I know the above issue with Firefox will prevent some notifications from being marked read intermittently.

 

We are working through the first wave of issues over the coming weeks so hopefully it'll be clear if this is a bug or some kind of weird browser caching.
