Jukkiss
Hello! I have a modded skyrim, and I have done some ini tweaks also, mainly to correct shadows update time seen outside. But now, I see really strange flickering of lights indoors. Suddenly when I move couple of steps, one light source turns on, and then after couple of steps, it turns off. Really strange. So depending on my characters location / or view angle lights turn on and off. Let me give one example as a screenshot. Any ideas? All info welcome. gsmanners
Too many lights, probably. That's the fad, lately, but the engine can't handle it. Here's a good rule of thumb: One light in any 512x512 area. No more than that.
Jukkiss
Gsmanners (or someone else), can you please tell me how do I make sure that theres only one light in 512*512 area? Im not so good with ini tweaks.
Georgiegril
Well, normally I'd say remove some mods, but if you only saw this after you were messing with your ini files, it could be related to that instead. Can you post your pref.ini file (copy/paste, enclose in spoilers)
Jukkiss
Sure thing Georgiegril. I have also used Skyrim configurator to some degree; and Im not completely sure that are those weak always shown in the ini. Georgiegril
That is your skyrim.ini not prefs.ini. However, from your last post, it seems like you have multiple possible causes-- it could be the configurator, rather than you making only changes in your ini files. So I would recommend trying to retrace your steps, undo your setting changes until your get to the issue.
gsmanners
Some lighting mods do actually add light objects (for "realism" or whatever), so I just assumed you were using one of those. They usually add lights with some kind of script (and you're basically stuck with that if you installed that version), but sometimes you see mods that add lights to cells by hand (and those you can just remove from your load order). gsmanners
First of all, you don't need 4000 for fInteriorShadowDistance. You can get by with 2000 or probably even 1000. Secondly, using 2048 for iShadowMapResolution might be giving you problems allocation memory for shadows (since that value dictates 4 MB shadows). You should try 1024 or 512 or lower for that.
