So i bought Fallout 3 GOTY edition or should we call it wgoty, Happily thinking " I know how to solve this buggy game " Well i did not????

Ive simply tried everything, multicore fix,large aware adress patch,fose,fomm,changing compability mode,updating net framework to 3.5,newest direct X,disabling ffds show,unofficial fallout 3 patch,updating

graphics drivers,disabling everything running game booster,used old xp audio drivers,8 different versions of drivers for nvidia,turning all auto saves off,Trying to cheat the game with a 3d9.dll trick so the

game thinks im using nvidia g7000,archive invalidation invalidated,fo3edit,running fallout completely vanilla style using only dlcs and even without any dlcs.

But the game freezes and it freezes and so on and so on :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

first it frooze after reading the youre special book,then it frooze just after the robot cuts the cake,then it frooze when butch tried to punch me AND NOW IT FREEZES EVERY F##### time im trying to fire

my BB gun at the targets YES EVERY FREAKING 20 times ive tried.

How on earth is it possible its only the INTRO!!!

Dont know what to do but please if anyone knows or experienced the same thing could come up with a solution i would be bonkers HAPPY :biggrin:

Or maybe a save game the puts me right outside of the vault at the beggining of the game much appreciated thanks :biggrin:

thomriis - Hello!

I know you said you applied the multi core fix but it does sound like the Fallout 3 multi core bug.

Fallout 3 has trouble with multi core computers, mainly with ones that have more than two cores & use hyperthreading.

Did you definitely edit the correct .ini as it's a common mistake to edit the .ini that's in the Fallout 3 folder instead of the right one in the Documents folder.

The one you want to change is:

For XP:

My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\

For Vista & Win7:

Documents\My Games\Fallout3

The file you want will be called:

FALLOUT.ini

Open the .ini with Notepad & change this line:

bUseThreadedAI=0

to:

bUseThreadedAI=1

& insert this line under it:

iNumHWThreads=2

Save & close your ini.

Hope this helps!

Hi Prensa.

Yes i did read the multicore fix right and made a save game, then changed the bUseThreadedAI=0 to bUseThreadedAI=1 and added iNumHWThreads=2 below in my documents/My games/fallout3/fallout ini file.

Also made sure to install it outside the C:location,turned UAC off and disabled GFWL.

I got the original fallout3 GOTY edition and did 3 clean reinstalls Still the same, I draw my BB GUN and when i fire the first shot it freezes completely (cant even shut the damn game down, Only a hard reset works)

Im running Windows 7 64 bit (ULTIMATE) with a I73940XM CPU and a nvidia gtx 675m Graphics card.

Thanks for trying to help :smile:

You should try running the game with all graphics settings set to the lowest possible setting. Shut off all AA and AF, no shadows and everything set to the lowest settings. I also had a problem with the intro scenes until I disabled all the DLCs. It took me a while to realize that the game was not made to start with the DLCs activated.

Once you get out of the vault, you can try increasing your graphics a little at a time.
