pkmking Posted May 9, 2013 Share Posted May 9, 2013 HI there I changed from win to linux 2 weeks ago, now I want to play Skyrim on my desktop.First I need to download Steam on Linux cuz I need the data files of Skyrim, how can I do this unter Linux ?Then I need to install Skyrim by downloading from Steam, does steam automaticly install skyrim on my Linux Pc or how do I do this ?At last I want to use some mods and need to install the SkyrimModManager , how do I do this ? You need windows unfortunately.are u sure ?At least I have the main Game TESV on CD but the DLC not. If I install the Main game from CD do you think it will work ? gsmanners Posted May 9, 2013 Share Posted May 9, 2013 Actually, I got it running on Linux months ago thanks to guides like this: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=24749 I don't think the mod managers available (except maybe Bash) will work because of their dependence on dotnet, but you don't really need a mod manager if you know where the plugins.txt is and how to change it by hand. gsmanners Posted May 10, 2013 Share Posted May 10, 2013 Much as I like VirtualBox, it doesn't really handle Skyrim well. IMHO, you're better off with Wine.
