rawrn00b
Guild Wars was my first PC game which I bought but my computer couldn't play because of the graphics card. So I went out and bought a new video card. After playing Guild Wars a lot on the PC I got Oblivion, I played it on the XBox 360 to around level 50 something and then I went on youtube to look up something about the game. Then I happened to run across Saiden Storms Akatosh Mount, I instantly wanted this mod, so I realized it was only for PC and then I waited until my birthday. At my birthday I went ahead and used some of my money I received to buy Oblivion. Well I got home and installed it but this is before I knew anything about computers. So basically I installed it and I went to run it, and it lagged so bad because of my old computer. So we went to Geek Squad and asked them what to do. They installed multiple graphics cards before finding one that "worked" unfortunately I got home and after playing for a bit it crashed and my computer was broken, thanks to Geek Squad. So we went back to best buy and bought a new computer, which they said had a good video card in it. Well lucky me the video card was a built in chip with like 32mb of memory. So we called my Moms cousin who builds computers and fixes them for a living. So after a while we went to his house and he picked out a video card for me, 8600gt 256mb. Well after a few weeks he had time to install it along with a power supply he bought with it. so my Dad payed him and we left and I played Oblivion, Crysis, The Witcher, Call Of Duty 4, Halo, Turok, a lot of games, you get the point. So after about a year I wanted to build my own computer for experience, fun, and being able to tell people I built my computer. So after a while we got all the parts sorted out with my Moms cousin again. And after a while when we received all the parts we waited for my Moms cousin and I built it while he watched me so he can make sure I did it right. Well I built it and did everything right and then went to play games on it. Of course with my luck I got a faulty video card so I had to RMA it and get a new one. So after a week or two using my 8600gt in this brand new computer I got my new card in the mail. so I went ahead and uninstalled the 8600gt and installed the new card,9800gtx 512mb Black Edition, and it worked fine and now I am playing any game I want maxed out basically. So that is my story. My current PC specifications 9800 GTX 512 Megabyte Black EditionQ9300 2.5 Ghz Quad core processor4Gb of G.Skill Ram780i T-premium Asus motherboard750GB HDDApevia X-plorer case800 Watt power supply And this past Christmas I got a G15 keyboard and a G9 mouse. Well that wraps up my story!
Michlo
So along the way you didn't learn how to write in paragraphs? :P I think my eyes are bleeding! hehe For me, my best mate at school was rather spoiled and was given an Atari so I played a few games on that. Then at school they formed "Computer club" (yup, this was before the days it was actually taught in schools and yup, I'm 40 :P ). I saved up and managed to get my first computer at about 15. It was an Amstrad CPC 464. I'll never forget it. Even though it took 30 minutes or more to load up the games from the cassette drive, it provided hours of entertainment and escapism from a childhood that wasn't exactly pleasant. And here I am all these years later, still playing 'em and no intention of stopping. heh. Of course, I have my computers these days are umm, a tad more powerful. ;) Cheers. Edit - I forgot to mention that I did eventually "upgrade" to an Amiga and I fondly recall the game "Supremacy". :) I managed to get a version working on the PC sometime last year and I found that umm, it hadn't stood the test of time. heh It was definitely the start of my megalomaniac ways in games though. ;)

humanbean234
First computer "game" I ever played was in 1981 on my High School's computer (a donated machine from McDonnell/Douglass Aircraft that had a whopping 8k of memory and used a punchcard reader for input), was a text-only drag-racing simulator that was just a three-number comparison. First real PC game I saw was Wizardry (Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord) for the Apple II in 1982, and being a D&D player at the time, I got entranced by it. Had I money to have invested in the industry, then, I'd be a rich man right now. (Get off my lawn, kid!)

katklaw
Well I have been gaming since space invaders first came out  I am much the same as Michlo and humanbean234 I was a keen Board gamer (Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Traveller) And started to play Amstrad and Amiga games in the early 80s. Favorate games then were 1K, Dune, Kings Quest, Dungeon Quest. But the best two were Elite a space game that for its day was out of this world and 4th and inches one of the first American football games. I actually had no idea how to play 4th and inches. We only played Rugby or Rugby League so it was cool. From there i brought a 486 and got into Dune 2, Warcraft 1 and 2, Red Alert, Command and Conquer Then a pentium 2 and had just enough memory to play Diablo Moved on to a AMD raptor board and could just play Diablo 2, Pool of Radience, Starcraft, Jedi Knight 2 and Morrowind incidently which was just the best game I had ever seen up to that point. Now I have a Asus Dual Core with an 8800 gtx 620mb which can run most games and I play Witcher Delux, Morrowind, Oblivion, Dawn of War 1 and 2, Blitzkrieg 2 and Assassins Creed
