LE Gold Armor & Weapons?

Hey there Modders.

I was wondering if anyone out there has a mod, or is willing to make one, that uses Gold for more then jewelry?

 

You could, in theory, simply add in one set of armor per main group. (Gold + Iron in iron, Gold + Steel in steel) - and make "Guilded" versions of each.
Be heavier, but we could give it some other benefit. Perhaps some kind of speech bonus - not sure.

For weapons: since silver is especially good against undead, perhaps Gold is good at banishing?

 

 

I'm open to ideas, and would love to help contribute to this project ^__^

I never know with these forums: do you all want me to be specific - or vague?

I assume vague, which leaves room for you to make things your own way (or an easy way).

But if its better for you modders to have a "more completely thought out" idea, then please let me know and I'll update my post ^_^

Are you looking for a completely new set of armor? Or are you looking to simply have an existing armor that is either on the mod market or already in the game given new qualities like you described that just kind of looks gold? There is a set called hero plate that looks similar to what you described and then there is the Dwarven armor that is already in the game... Not the lighest stuff but it comes with its perks that can be changed to whatever you like. Do either of these sound good? Edited May 20, 2013 by a3970010

I think he's looking for something new... A new armor set that is similar to iron or steel, but has gold inlays, with completely new look and stats. At least that is what I get from his idea. I think its a great idea, and I completely support it. I am not a modder however. But I would love to see such a thing made. It seems silver and gold were completely overlooked other then for jewelry and silver hand weapons.

Not to nitpick.... gold is one of the SOFTEST ores around. A steel sword would literally cut right through a gold sword. I doubt tempering it with iron or steal would make it stand up to a full blow iron or steel blade. i like emmurshun.

Here is my thoughts:

 

You take existing weapons/armors that are craftable, and make a "Guilded" or some other word version.
Take the normal recipy, replace an ingot or two with Gold.

For weapon stats, you give some weapons a small boost because of the weight - and of course, increased weight.
For armor, the same. A little bit heavier then the base, and a little more protective.

 

For the appearance, you can take a basic version of anything, and add in a little bit of gold to the skin coloring.

And as for the "bonus for using gold" - I'm not sure.
For armor it could be a speechcraft bonus, or something.
For weapons - I was thinking they would be good for Banishing summoned things (like how silver is good vs undead)


And since "Studded" has only one item in the whole menu, I'd love for the Studded version to be extra cool.


For those wanting to really go out and make brand new armor for this mod, then I'd love to see something like this:

 

its called Coin-Mail. Perhaps the recipe could call for some leather, a good number of straps, iron ingot, gold ingot, and a good number of Gold Coins?

That would indeed be very cool, but I don't really wanna ask too much from the Modding Community ^__^

I'm really just looking to have a more productive use of gold then in jewelry.

There are SOME gilded armour serts out there, I play with Nordic Carved and Steel Plate gilded installed, but it would be nice to see a gilded version of EVERY base armour in the game, adding no armour value (as it has been said before it is soft and wouldn't improve the armour in any way), although I do like the idea of a speech boost, perhaps scripted to allow player enchantments on the armour and weapons?
