mkvamm1
Should this be set to the amount of cores plus threads? Or is it just the amount of threads? Edited May 1, 2021 by mkvamm1
dubiousintent
This is a 10 year old game, designed before multi-threading was really "a thing" in the game industry and with compromises for the XBox360 hardware limitations. As such empirical testing has show it isn't able to take advantage of a iNumHWThreads option greater than two (2) and even then still primarily uses a single thread. Hence core processing speed is more important than number of threads for performance. Suggest you take a look at the "Solutions to Performance problems" section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article. The old "TweakGuides" site detailing all the game options has been taken down, but the content has been preserved on the "PCGamingWiki". The FNV specific game guide is now on the nVidia's "GeForce" site, but the link to there on PCGamingWiki is broken at this moment. Still the information for both FO3 and FNV combined between those two sites are by the same author and useful for those determined to understand and get every option tweak available. -Dubious Edited May 2, 2021 by dubiousintent
JimboUK
I can confirm the above through my own testing, it'll max out one core and make some use of a second one but that's it. It was designed primarily for the Xbox 360 which had three cores but most titles only made use of two, this being one of those titles.
