prod80
@Darviela ... manAnd this is only in Skyrim ... cannot think of more causes at the moment. Starting to think your specific hardware in SLI and Skyrim is just not going to run well ... but I mean, come on ... that should just be a simple fix in drivers to make an SLI profile for gtx690 & skyrim. Here's one thing, playing fullscreen while windowed @ full resolution, uses SKSE tho ( SKSE can be found here: http://skse.silverlock.org/ and is a separate launcher for Skyrim )http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36177/ ( beta version appears to be better - less/no delay )That card should be tearing through this game with ease... Anyway forcing single GPU for Skyrim did work right? a single GK104 chip should be more than enough for Skyrim. Well even with that it still crashes from time to time. The ONLY way to reduce the crashing significantly is to remove midiborns weapon and armor textures. and set the resolution to windowed 720p. The real crux of this mystery is that with the SAME computer but a different video card (560Ti Boost), everything ran WAY better. The confusing aspect is that no matter what skyrim does not LAG or go below 60 FPS with my 690. I can set the shadow resolution really high and the only thing that will happen is an instant CTD. So performance wise there is no real issue with frames per second. The issue is the constant CTDs. I honestly can't think of what could be wrong. It's very frustrating to me. Expecting this 1thousand dollar card to be good with skyrim.

(You are bound by this reality...) You might want to review this thread.... http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/999432-skyrim-vram-usage/ You will need to edit your SLI profiles... The only thing that changed was a video card. You miss the point of the exercise..... a 1080p 60hz.. refresh rate monitor is limited by the laws of physics to 60 FPS.... The frame buffer may say 120 FPS the additional capability is wasted.. Buying $800.00 double overkill cards does not change the laws of physics.. only a higher refresh rate monitor (120 hz / 240 hz) changes this. All of the Double GPU Cards have had a terrible history of being temperamental, and problematic...
Darviela
<p>my monitor runs 120 hz... But I frame limit skyrim to 60 fps.</p><p> </p><p>Also as nice as skyrim script extender is it seems to not work when I have xsplit running...</p><p> </p><p>GEEER how do I get rid of SKSE?</p> Edited May 23, 2013 by Darviela
Darviela
So far after removing the "MidianBorn" Textures I have had no crashes. Real shame I love those.
blitzen
Did you ever try redownloading and installing them, just in case some rare error occured? I've had bad archives that would not install at all after download because NMM said the CRC code was bad. This has happened several times with various large files, and some have required 4 downloads before I get a good one. There is also some type of texture optimization utility I have seen discussions about. If cabal has not already done that to his mod, you might want to try it. It would be a shame to have to discard such high quality work. Edited May 25, 2013 by blitzen

It would be a shame to have to discard such high quality work. I used the LAA program on the skyrim exe (I know its supposed to already be LAA). This resulted in better performance and it allowed me to use the midi weapon and armor textures without any crashing. I was able to zip around the map with console commands and not a single crash. Then, I figured hey I must have fixed it. Then I installed the skyrim HD 2k textures and now anytime I go near a town I crash. Perplexing... The odd thing is that according to skyrim performance monitor I am not crashing during he peak of any given resources utilization. I am crashing when entering a new cell or after spinning around, etc.
Pevey
I think you need to consider RMAing your video card. Occasionally, even with great cards, one can have issues. I mentioned earlier in the thread that i have two 680s in sli and had to RMA one a while back. First video card I've had to RMA ever, and took me a long time to finally come to the conclusion it was the card. The thing with two cards is you can swap them out to see if one is causing the issues. Since they are supposed to be identical, you can isolate whether the problem is with your card versus the software or lther hardware. I noticed during all this that skyrim is especially sensitive. Most other programs ran fine. Borderlands 2 ran mostl fine with only very occasional CTDs. With skyrim, I would go about 30 minutes before seeing some purple textures and soon after that CTD. I did notice that certain texture mods, which I won't name because the problem was really with my card, caused me to CTD much, much faster than others. My setup is rock solid now, but I still avoid some of those mods.
