Fallout 4 CTD (new to fallout and nexus forum)

Hello, I've modded my Fallout 4, and it seems it crashes extremely randomly. At one point there was a problem with the armor workbench (that's fixed), but the CTDs now are completely random. It can be when i'm shooting enemies, saving, opening menus, walking around, etc... I have no idea what mod or mod combination couuld be causing conflict, but here's my mod load order (taken after using sort mods on loot) and specs:

The game crashing at random, especially when there's some action going on or saving or swapping cells often has to do with RAM and/or V-RAM. So, to start, please post what CPU and GPU (Brand, type and V-RAM) you are using and how much system RAM you have.

idk if i posted the specs right, it's my first time using DxDiag, but in any case is it possible that the predator could be the problem?

It's very hard to pin down random ctds. Find out what FO4Edit is and how to make a merged patch for one thing. That many mods means some conflicts which could be causing your crashing. Your specs are plenty for modded FO4.

You have to understand that FO4 is a RAM hog. A GTX1060 has six GB, but that isn't enough to absorb the random peaks that can go to around 12GB. Such peaks last a fraction of a second and normally give a slight one-off stutter and a sudden drop in frames per second but sometimes such a peak crashes the game.

 

Using mods like, for example, one that adds blood decals when killing an enemy can cause such a momentary high peak. To counter this, have a look at ENBoost. It's a mod that makes the game 'think' that system RAM is V-RAM. Rule of thumb for the mod's enblocal.ini is to add system RAM and V-RAM, minus the amount needed for the operating system and background stuff to work as it was intended.

 

In your case that should result in 8 (sys-RAM) + 6 (GPU) - 3 (OS) is 11GB or 11264MB that can be used by the game.

 

Also have a look at LOOT (Load Order Optimisation Tool) to sort your plug-ins to avoid conflicts. LOOT however isn't a magic wand that will set you free of any troubles some mods might cause and you'll need to manually add plug-ins at the bottom for those that need to be loaded last if this is specified by the mod author.

 

For the rest, expect crashes at random anyway because of the fact FO4 is very badly ported to PC, isn't that well optimised and makes a joke of RAM use.

ok noted for the enb, but i'm currently already using loot (because i play skyrim too). As for FO4 edit, i guess i'll just look for masterfile edits, but i'm not aware of merged patches at all.
