Diaryofjane
hellos!i started having issues with skyrim since yesterday when my wsad,Map,Powers,Inventory keys suddenly wont work,it will work properly but after a while it stops working,i never had this issues before,i was trying to figure out how to fix it and what mightve caused it,i tried to put the gameenabled to 0 already and some console command, but nothing worked, then i noticed i get that issues when my characters blood starts to boil as she got bitten by a vampire but i saw i can still cure the early stage of it, so i cured it ,i dont see the notice about her blood boils anymore but then the issues happened again.when this happen i try to load my last save before the keys stop working and it just works properly and after a while it happens again,i tried to play other different character saves i have and they work properly and no keyboard problem at all. really cant figure this one out. anyone had the same problem and perhaps a solution for it?sorry for the weird english.cheers
IsharaMeradin
You might have a mod that for some reason disables various player controls, perhaps in an attempt to act as some disease/injury debilitation.
Diaryofjane
is there a way to find out which mod is it or is it maybe because of a race?im using ningheim race atm and my other character is a nord and she doesnt get any keyboard issues. :s coz the issues started happening when i got bitten i think. IsharaMeradin
If it were the race, I'd expect more people would have the same issues.Since you think it started after getting bit, it might be a mod related to vampires. If it is there might be documentation that states what will happen which you might have overlooked. But I have no idea how you can tell which it might be... dalevj
I have a similar problem but nothing to do with any mod. Just a new computer and a fresh install and vanilla game. Why won't the wsadejip keys work? Strange. Worked fine on older computer running the same OS.
Georgiegril
Have you tried logging out of steam, then running back in? I wonder if steam is not recognizing your new hardware.
dalevj
I've uninstalled the game, steam, everything. Signed in and out of steam new game, etc. Yet my keyboard is not seen by the game except console key, tab, and save key. New game if I try to name my character all I get are numbers when I type any letter key. Frustrating as heck. Brand new powerful computer and can't play the game. Georgiegril
That is very odd. Obviously your keyboard works in general, or you could not have typed your post, but does it work with other Steam games? Also, just to be sure, you boughtdownloaded the PC version of the game?If you open your Skyrim prefs.ini file (the one in your documents folder, not the one in your data folder), can you post what you have under the [Main] and [Controls] headers? Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for your keyboard? also, are you using any program that shuts off background processes/apps, like Gamebooster? If so, have you tried playing without it?If none of that helps, it might be useful to know what exactly you have-- could you post your system information from Steam? (you can find it by clicking on the help button in the steam UI, I think there is a copy option if you right click after opening it.) There is a lot of information there, so it would help to enclose it in spoiler tags. Also could you post your BOSS log text file, and to it add any mods/supporting programs you are using that do not have .esps (like some texture mods, Skse, etc.)
dalevj
Please see my other post entitled Keyboard Issue. The game worked fine on my old PC computer except for some stuttering, slowness, and occasional CTD's. I'm trying to play as vanilla a game as possible so as not to have interference from mods so here is most of what you asked for. No real need for my boss files yet since what I have running is minimal. Yes and No to the keyboard question. That is I did and nothing changed so thought I'd try with just the W7 drivers. Additionally, I have tried another wireless and a direct USB keyboard, neither worked. Here is *.ini stuff: [MAIN]bGamepadEnable=1bCrosshairEnabled=1fHUDOpacity=1.000bSaveOnPause=1bSaveOnTravel=1bSaveOnWait=1bSaveOnRest=1 [Controls]fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=1.0000fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0125bAlwaysRunByDefault=1bInvertYValues=0bGamePadRumble=1bMouseAcceleration=1 Current LOADED mods/esm's,esp's/patchesDawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, Dragonborn.esm,HighResTexture Packs 1,2,and 3, Unofficial Skyrim, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn and High Resolution Patches. That's it! I'll get the steam stuff for next post. Thanks for trying to help.
