Why and when does one need to create a bashed patch?

I have modded and played Skyrim for about 4 years now and I know a lot about modding but I've never quite understood what exactly a bashed patch is usefull for. I've heard a lot of people saying that bashed patches are good if you have a lot of mods that change the level lists. I thought that you could choose what mods you wanted to include in a bashed patch but as far as I've seen, wryebash chooses the mods for you and there's nothing you can do about it.

So my question remains: What exactly is a bashed patch good for? Is it really neccesary and when should one make a bashed patch?

Don't assume that because a mod is ticked it will be included in the bashed patch - I have found that a mod will not be included unless it is tagged. If it isn't you can tag it yourself by right clicking in the relevant box & then selecting the appropriate tags (for example Relev adds items that the mod introduces to levelled lists & Delev will remove items that the mod has taken out of levelled lists).
