Gods below this game is temperamental! When I switched over to SE I thought most of the problems we had with Oldrim would be over. If anything things might be worse now.

 

Sometimes the game will behave exactly as it did with LE and we had the memory ceiling.

 

- I will climb down my horse and turn around to check if my follower is behind - CTD.

- If I die in combat and the game reloads, it becomes unstable and a CTD is most likely to happen soon after, so I usually exit and reload from the last save.

- Sometimes it crashes (stopped responding) when I transition from one cell to another. So I've started saving every 4-5 minutes.

- Sometimes it will freeze solid and I can't even CTRL + ALT + Del to kill the process. I have to restart the system.

- It just crashed again, when a dragon attacked and I was in my tent. I could no longer control anything.

Maybe my gear is getting old. I bought this PC 4 years ago when I started playing Oldrim.

 

It's an I5 750 - 2.7G with an Nvidia GForce 760 2G on Win 8.1.

 

The video drivers are up to date (although I've been experiencing relatively frequent driver crashes (driver has crashed but recovered) as of late). I've looted, merged and bashed my mods. I'm well below the limit (175 mods active). If I add a mod I always re-loot, re-merge and re-bash the whole thing, running FNIS when there are animations involved. Finally I regularly check the saves with ReSaver. I'm not using an ENB, I've also turned off the Godrays, reduced the shadow rendition, reduced the LOD draw distance.

 

Oh and after summoning Durnehviir for the third time, learning the last shout and completing his quest, he just won't fade away! He follows me around whenever I'm in Skyrim (not in Solstheim), freaking out the locals and spooking the cows!

You haven't said how much system RAM you have. It may not be enough.

 

Try using Skyrim Performance Monitor to check your VRAM and RAM usage. It will preserve data after a crash, so you can see what led up to it.

 

As an experiment, try reducing the Detail setting to 'Low' in OPTIONS and running at reduced resolution in a window. It will look terrible but the question is: do you still crash so often?

16G - triple buffering on in the NVidia control panel - Antialiasing off. But I'll try your suggestion and see.

You could try it without triple buffering, as you only have a 2GB graphics card.

 

It would be interesting to know how much system RAM it actually manages to use before crashing. There used to be a problem with WIndows 8.1 not handling memory properly and pulling the plug at 4GB even on 64-bit games but I thought that had been fixed with a WIndows update a while back.

Now I'm prisoner in my house... whenever I try to leave I CTD. I rebooted and same results. I tried coc riftenorigin - CTD. It's either that damned Durnehviir that won't go away and spawns wherever I am in Skyrim - or because of the Black Books - or because I forced completed the Miraak quest qith the console and then gave myself his mask. I don't know. I think this particular game is done. Thankfully I finished all the DLCs nd the main quest. But I wanted to be free to explore now thatthe 'job' is done. Oh well.

Seriously, though, I still think you have RAM problems. If you can't get SPM working, have read through the SPM comments thread and contact the author. He's a nice guy and likes to know about problems like you seem to be having in case it's something interesting he can solve.

 

Also, SSE Engine Fixes might help you, if you don't already know about it. It might stop the crashing but also, it can be configured to generate a report if you do crash, that may give clues as to the root cause. I haven't used it much myself (except to see how it worked) because my game doesn't normally crash unless I deliberately force it to (for example, by spamming the memory leak in RaceMenu).

Upgrading my RAM to 16gb earlier this year solved a lot of my crashing issues. SSE will eat all you have. SSE with tonnes of mods will eat even more. It left me with a stuttery mess and an unstable game. Id fire up afterburner and check out RAM and VRAM usage.

i hear you on those issues, i have a nvidia 1070 8 gig vram and i still gotta use optimized textures, also it ia not your ram i only got 8 gigs and mine runs stable when i aint screwing it up, i recenlty uninstalled oldrim mcm because i didnt know the new skyui had it and nwo i cant create new characters without crashing.

 

but keep in mind i also modified some other mods to by repacking them into a bsa, also installed one that nearly destroyed a gamesave (resaver is a lifesaver). nmm is good for mod testing but i prefer mo2 for its left pane orginization

If everything else is fine your load order is fine, and you cant find an answer, It a corrupted save in my book, but this game demands the game specs to be covered at least.
