I cant really do anything with the groups in my load order

Recommended Posts

Hiyya, i'm having a very frustrating problem with vortex, i cant manage my load order properly at all. In the manage groups menu, i'm trying to add a group, but it wont do anything when i right click on basically anything. The only thing i can do, is add lines between the groups that are already there, and move those groups around. Can someone please try and help me with this?!

First of all, what game are you trying to mod?

What are you trying to do?

It sounds like you're trying to "Over Manage" your plugins, by trying to make more groups than necessary.

First order of business, when using Vortex, forget all of the bad habits NMM forced on you, and don't worry about the order of your PLUGINS (ESPS), you don't need to worry about that anymore.

I'm trying to mod fallout 4, and I'm trying to organize my load order better. I have over 100 mods so far, and every mod that i download gets placed into the default group, i have to change it anyway, so why not organize it better. I'm trying to just make my own groups for most types of mods, like weapons, armors, and workshop items, i don't want to put them all in the same "items" group. So, I'm simply trying to replace the current groupings, because i don't like them.

The problem is, groups in the plugins tab isn't for "Organization" as much as sorting your load order.

I have 279 mods for Fallout 4, and out of those 279, I only had to manually sort the order of about 16 esps.

If you click on the "Manage Groups" button you can see the layout of the groups, and how each group has priority over another in the load order.

When i get to the manage groups section, I can't right click to edit, add, or delete anything. right clicking does literally noting.

There was that tutorial video, that show the guy could right click, and add groups, that's not working for me

Not working for me either.

It could be broken in 0.18.9

Just a heads up, The more groups you make, the more "Unable to Sort because of Cyclic References" you're going to end up with, when you try and sort your Plugins.

If you try and sort a plugin from one group AFTER a plugin in a group that comes AFTER it.

Dangit.

I was really hoping that it wasn't broken, and that i was just doing something wrong.

Organizing and sorting the load order, its pretty much the same thing to me, i just prefer saying organize.

And for each mod, it doesn't auto sort it for me. I've literally had to manually sort everything out of the default group
