  1. If you find anybody charging for one, please report them and the site you find them on to Bethesda Softworks. Modding isn't a business: it's something we do for pleasure, using the tools Bethsoft provided for free. Occasionally some slimeball tries to make a few bucks out of it, but they usually get run out of town very quickly.
  2. Oblivion runs reasonably well, even with 250+ mods. Morrowind seems, at times, unaware that it is running on Windows. Still, I wouldn't give that game up for the world.
  3. In that case, this guide has some pretty useful info about increasing FPS in Morrowind. Decreasing shadows, dropping resolution, turning off music, etc: you'd think Morrowind would run easily nowadays, but it was never optimized. Great game, though. Best of luck. :)
  4. What mod? I've never heard of a mod that causes CTDs because of an "old" OS or PC, and I've been involved in the modding communities of both Morrowind and Oblivion since they started--and now, in Skyrim. This doesn't mean I'm right, but I'd think in trying out far, far too many mods by now (I always run to the maximum allowed), I'd have heard of such a condition. :) Rather, it sounds as though either something is wrong in the mod itself, or there are issues of too little RAM, or mod conflicts.
  5. I just did a search on the Web and found this comment: I have to wonder if what you're seeing isn't a result of too high an framerate, as too low of one, that in turn causes the stuttering. Just a thought. Have you tried showing FPS on the screen, so you can check that out? You'd do that by opening the console and typing tdt, just in case you weren't aware of it.
  6. How much RAM do you have? What video card? What CPU?
  7. I wait usually a year to two years for anything I buy, though I've received games for review over the years upon release. Some are never off my computer, like Darklands, Hidden Agenda, or Morrowind.
  8. I'd probably chuck The Elder Council. There are quite a few issues with it, if you real the comments section. The Oblivion Quest List is a year out of date--the maintainer had a child--but remains the single best repository of links to quests, around. Also includes descriptions, sorts by length, and tells you whether they have companions to offer, or not.
  9. These. Search on FCOM, and you'll find several threads; your choice. Or start your own.
  10. I wasn't too clear, but QQix's mod actually lets you view the contents of any armor/clothing sold in any store, not just Divine Elegance. It's done in a very RPG manner: you get three invitation envelopes, and can pass them along to the proprietors of three stores. When you get back to DE, the models already have their merchandise. You just pick the outfits you want to see. And the envelopes are back, as well, so if you want to switch out content, you just take them and give them to other stores.
  11. Apachii's Goddess Store is an extremely large collection of female armor and clothing. Much of it is HGEC, and there are several variants. The atmosphere of the store itself is well worth a view, too. QQix's Divine Elegance Showroom will let you see a fair amount of its content on display as various models pose and strut their stuff.
  12. [ MGE is not a patch, not by the teams who did MCP or MPP, nor intended to fix any bugs. It is an attempt at creating a centralized upgrading system for graphics, and has been notably problematic for many users over the years. Some swear by it, others, at it. But it has no relation to the couple of patches being discussed, and it wouldn't do to confused one mod with another. Some mods conflict. Some mods don't. It pays to find out in advance which are which. I can understand that if you have installation issues with the two most respected, always recommended patches in Morrowind, you would be annoyed. But the best way to deal with this is to get assistance in the official forums, rather than trash the patches. You'll find a lot of people willing to help. And getting them properly installed only makes sense. The MCP not only deals with dozens of bugs, it also eliminates several major instances of saved game corruption, while the MPP fixes several hundred bugs left untouched by Bethsoft. These are perfectly safe. Again, don't take out your frustration by dissing two patches that are universally recommended in the Morrowind community to solve many issues. :) Morrowind received critical and popular raves for its graphics upon release: a fact that can still be checked by a look at the contemporary reviews remaining online. It wasn't the storyline and quest systems that grabbed most people--though the latter in particular were excellent t--but the depth of immersion in a seemingly free-and-open environment. Which isn't to say that you can't like the story, or dislike the graphics; but it's good to be accurate about these things. Personally, I still think the graphics hold up well, and think it best not to replace them with various smaller texture mods until one's played for a while and decided if they're sufficient. But that's just my opinion.
  13. Lot of texture replacement mods for Oblivion, so you can make it look as good or better in many respects than Skyrim. Whether your system will allow this without much slowdown depends on how good it is. Also, tons of other mods. Revamping the magic system. Adding huge quest lines. Some very personalized companion mods. Excellent journal mod. Hundreds of house mods for every need. Thousands of extra weapons, armor, etc. To get a flavor of quest variety, check out this site. Hasn't been updated in a year, since the maintainer had a child, but it's still a remarkable list. Just be sure to read comments before downloading on the appropriate sites, as these can point out incompatibilities with still other mods. And check out the advanced search categories here on Nexus, of course. Enjoy. :)
  14. Instead of using Babehair, consider COBL Races. That should integrate better in your Bashed Patch, and may give your character their hair back. The UOP should load first among your ESPs. Minor point, but still. Few FCOM mavens, here, but a bunch hang around the official forums. Try posting your list, there. Getting all four of those giants to pull together is tough on its own, much less with other mods thrown in. (Only use Fran's and Mart's out of the group, myself.)
  15. Odd about those various issues. Though I agree about completely avoiding autosave and quicksave, you shouldn't be having the problems you are with the Patch. Be sure it loads directly after your ESMs, date-wise. If you have Wrye Mash, that's easy to set up: you just change the date/time stamp on the Patch to be the earliest of all the ESPs you run. You should also download the Morrowind Code Patch. It complements the Morrowind Patch Project you've already got, and deals with a range of issues that remove saved game corruption. If your current saved game is crippled, that might help. Finally, do consider Wrye Mash. It has several controls to remove further instances of game corruption in saves, as well as a ton of extra features.
  16. I don't know what other mods you're running, or how you've installed the ones you mentioned, to have any idea what the problem is. That said, there are alternatives, You can use the console to change your strength. You can acquire a mark/recall spell, set it for a shop or place your character calls home, and recall from dungeons. You can use a companion mod, such as Jackie, or Constance, to temporarily hold stuff for you.
  17. Likely a temporary issue, since the board's been moving to new servers. I suggest you post this up under Feedback, not under Morrowind.
  18. Something we didn't check--you aren't using autosave and quicksave regularly, are you? Because they are a known cause of saved game corruption.
  19. Might want to put this up in Bethesda's official mod forum. Lots of Oscuro vets, there.
  20. Good for you! That's real generosity. :)
  21. You've not used BOSS, have you? Because the Item Interchange mods are supposed to load directly before your Bashed Patch. Also, COBL races includes the Ren Beautypack, if I recall correctly. And the UOP Vampire Aging and Face Fix is something you can engage in Wrye Bash directly, as one of its settings. There are some other anomalies. In any case, run BOSS just to see what it recommends, and if it suggests newer versions of some of your mods.
  22. I think you're going to find that most people prefer modding their own castles, upon their own specifications. It takes a ton of work, usually months. If you'd simply asked for a one-room shack, that would be different, but obviously your needs are greater. Well, sure it may be uploaded wherever the modder who does it wants. After all, it's theirs. They built it, they own it. Another reason to do it yourself: you'll own (within the limits imposed by Bethsoft) the results. I know you're having CS loading issues, but that's something I'm sure the people here could help with if you ask over in the Oblivion troubleshooting forum. Best of luck, regardless. If you go the modding route, you'll find plenty of tutorials on modding around the Web, and lots of modding veterans to offer suggestions for how to get things done. And nothing beats the pleasure of seeing the results of one's own efforts, when finished. :)
