  1. Anyone know why I can't use injury kits/mibari crunches on my dog when he's added using the Extra Dog Slot mod? Add the items to his quickslot. They can be used from there.
  2. You don't even get to keep the money if you DO take the bribe. >.> my friend chose that path yesterday and she regretted it straight away. :/ There's no advantage to it.
  3. No, it's really not doomed to fail. It could be done on my motherboard which didn't have SLI supported originally. Flashing with a higher end models bios solved the problem. But now even the official bios allows both SLI and Crossfire.
  4. It depends. If you have the right amount of PCI-E slots sometimes flashing the bios with one for a slightly higher end model in the same line will let you do sli on a non sli board. I remember having to do this for a gigabyte board before it became officially supported.
  5. I've heard really good stories about this game, and I had some friends who LOVED it. I never got around to actually picking up a copy though, but I'd love to sometime.
  6. Why would I feel guilty about liking a game? If I play a game and I like it then I will be open about it. If you have to hide your favourite games from people for fear of what they will think then you probably need to change something. If you're comfortable with yourself you should be able to proudly play anything, even Pokemon, at any age, location, group, test tube, whatever. I used to hide the fact that I liked Pokemon, now I don't really like Pokemon anymore. :( I bought the new game but I just couldn't get into it. I still want to play the Remake of Pokemon Silver though, that game was a major part of my childhood.
  7. FEAR 1 was actually pretty alright... I didn't get scared at all in it... But towards the end it started to get a little scary.
  8. Google is a pretty cool invention. Seriously, if you don't know what a game is, google is always more then happy to help. Instantly.
  9. That Xenomorph mod was actually where i got the inspiration for this race whole from. :P Thanks a lot for your advice. The one thing I am worried about when using 'setScale' for the different sizes is that, according to the CS site, "When used on a player in first person, changes do not affect the character's model when he switches to third person. Also, although this command does automatically change the point of view of the character while in first person, the camera does not move nearly as much as would be expected in most scaling operations." How would I get around this to change both the 3rd person and first person model? ModScale isn't mentioned as having this limitation, but the second form is signifcantly larger then the last form and would suffer from problems because of that.
  10. That seems quite interesting, but I don't want the players skills or infamy or anything to change upon their form changing. Although, I suppose their fame/infamy being reset could be put down to their form rendering them unrecognizeable.
  11. Thanks for the advice. Is he on these forums? If so I can just PM him?
  12. XD That would have been hilarious.
  13. Eh, not really. lol I love some realism mods in oblivion such as hunger and sleep mods. You want to know why? Exactly the same reason you don't. Fantasy, to get away from the real world. But if I want to do that, I want that fantasy to be as real and immersive as possible. I do all the same things you do in Oblivion, but I also eat and sleep. I just like to actually role play. And as with the fps thing... Maybe you're just really bad at them? lol No offence (seriously, none whatsoever I'm 100% kidding), I'm not exactly great, I always get my ass kicked online (and have GREAT fun doing it) but I play all my fps games on the highest difficulty and it's never exactly gotten to the point where I've had to re do a mission 50 times. Just to the point where every fire fight is actually fun and exhilarating and I have to work to win. Sure, I die now and then, but I have a lot more fun doing so. Plus, it makes you review your tactics and think about what you're doing. I just can't see the point in playing easy games.
  14. So, in that case, I could create the main race with the bones for the tail but make the actual tail invisible and just have the armour for the first two forms follow those bones? This would crash the game if a different race used it, but that shouldn't be possible unless the player cheats to obtain that armour.
  15. I am sorry. That wasn't made clear in your inquiry. I apologize. R' Ah, I see, I thought I had made it clear when I said automatically and when I later mentioned problems with changing race in Oblivion which I thought made it clear that I had used that method before. (Although that didn't make it clear that I knew abotu the saving and loading part) I now see how my post could be unclear. Hopefully anyone else reading this thread will see this and not be confused too. Also, any apology is unnecessary. I see no reason to apologize, your advice would have been helpful and it was only bad wording on my part that caused the mistake.
  16. Yes, I know how to do that, and that would work fine if I was just doing this for myself I guess... But this is a project I plan to release at some stage. I'd much prefer this all to happen without the player having to do anything except level up. Thanks anyway though.
  17. What something is 'meant' to be has little affect on what it is. If a 'realism' mod does somethign unrealistic it can hardly be called a good 'realism' mod, can it?
  18. Eh, vague title, sorry about that. I'm creating a new race based off a character from an Anime I loved as a kid which involved a character that had several different 'forms' The first two forms featured tails although their body shape was a bit different, but the last form's tail was pretty much non existant. I was hoping to be able to create a race that started in the first form and changed into the later forms during later levels. I have thought of doing this as a sort of armour that would be swapped out at certain levels, but then I wouldn't be able to have the tail animated, would I? So another thought I had was that I could create the different forms as different races (which would allow me to have different body sizes and base stats for them, which would be great) and use a script to change between the races at certain levels. Now, I don't know how to go about changing a race automatically by script. That's one problem, I also know that Oblivion tends to reset stats and things when a race is changed... So, if anyone could give me some advice on how to get around this problem, that would be great. If worse comes to worse I might just make them as completely seperate races or only make the last form.
  19. I think what he means (no offense) is mods that make enemies harder to kill, but makes it easier for them to kill you... Not where it is easier for both sides to die... Which is not realistic, hence not being a realism mod. That's all I was pointing out to him.
  20. Well, that's not a realism mod. THat's a difficulty mod. I like realism mods as they tend to affect both the player AND the enemy. It means that you both die really quickly and fights actually become tense.
  21. There's no real need for a mod as there is an extremely simple console command that will extend the time of day built into morrowind. :) set timescale to # Where # is the rate at which time passes. I believe the default is 30, so, set timescale to 15 would make the days last twice as long as vanilla Morrowind. Hope this helps, should hopefully keep your mod list down a bit too. :)
  22. Thanks for all the response guys. :) I'd say I'm from a hot country. Middle of Queensland, Australia. It gets pretty hot. :P I try to have the air conditioning on if I'm playing games now, but it's a bit expensive to use it at the moment because, apart from my computer, the rest of my household is coping fine with the heat so we're not turning it on just for me. :( I've also been pretty careful with my cable placement, I don' think that is contributing to the problem. I use Tune Up-Utilities religiously, so hopefully that is taking reasonable care of my registries and things. I guess I really need to replace the cooling for the CPU (that would come with that thermal paste stuff 'm hoping). I've heard that stock cooling for the i7 is pretty bad anyway, so it was already on my list. I'm using a Thermaltake V9 gaming case at the moment which apparently isnt able to hold the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme which is the CPU cooler that I'd been looking at quite a bit. :/ That was really dissapointing, but, I've had some problems in the past with fans breaking anyway and I'm unable to control the speed of any of the fans in the case except for the CPU and GPU fans, so I thought maybe I should just bite the bullet, by a new case that will fit a proper cpu cooler in it and will hopefully have better airflow. I'm not sure if I'm being a bit drastic here, but I'd really rather fork out the cash for a new case then a new CPU (i7's are pretty expensive and I'd like to overclock at some point anyway) Also, the case is on my wooden desk, and I clean my room and case like a madman to make sure there is no dust, although it did get really dusty at some point and I'm not sure I was able to get all the dust out fully. So unless the tiny amount of dust that's left inside is causing the problems I don't think there's much I can do there. :( If any of you have advice on smaller CPU Cooling for my i7 or on a better case that should be able to hold the TRUE, have good airflow in general and isn't too hard on the pocket. That being said, I would rather pay more for a better performing and looking case. Looks are quite important to me as I am quite proud of my computer and like to show it off a bit. :P Vain, I know. Thanks again guys for your advice.
  23. I've been having some issues recently with my FPS in games steadily dropping. It wasn't long ago that I was able to play Far Cry 2 with a steady 60-70 FPS on the highest settings. All other games (except oblivion... >.>) Behaved the same way. But I'm starting to see some major drops in performance... I get around 50 FPS now which has dropped down to 28 FPS and Oblivion is barely playable at all. On top of that my temperatures have really started to soar through the roof with my cpu getting temperatures of over 70C occasionaly even at idle! This makes playing even games like FEAR a bit worrying as I'm worried about damaging my system. If anyone else has some advice about what could be causing my loss in gaming performance (and how to fix it) that would be great, and I'm sure it might help some other who browse through here too. Any hints on my temps would be appreciated too.
  24. Hiya guys, I've been blown away by some of the screen shots that I've seen of Morrowind with some amazing shaders applied through MGE and thought I had to try it myself. All kinda went smoothly, except that the shaders didn't really seem to work. I was using Phals Sun Rays shader and, seeing as that seemed to be the one that I was having an issue with I decided to read the readme which said: 'You will need MGE SVN rev117, and a MGE d3d8.dll that passes the real sun position and sun visiblity to shaders.' Well, I have the latest version of MGE, so I thought that must be fine so I downloaded the DLL that it said I needed.... Only to be confronted with Morrowind refusing to start and showing an error message stating that 'd3dx9_40.dll' was missing. I can't run the game at all now, and I'd really love to use those sun glares. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. My computer runs Morrowind very, very easily even with Distant Land on, but it seems to overheat like crazy and sometimes even triggers my graphics card to underclock itself drastically in an effort to keep cool. I believe my CPU is also underclocking quite a bit under the strain. Is there any reason Morrowind makes it run SO hot? The performance isn't really suffering at all, just the temperature.
  25. Damn...! I barely meet the recommended ones... I guess it'll be the first game in a while I won't be able to run on max settings... But yeah, if I were going to get a game that barely ran, it'd better have good enough gameplay to outweigh the annoyances from stuttering. Ooh, reccomended quad core? Maybe a game that will actually take advantage of all four cores. :3 That graphics don't look particularily great though... I wonder why the requirements are so high?
