  1. What is it with this Kreisher person? Just because I was the first modder to answer here (I assume) since he asked for modder's opinions he thinks he can send me a friend request (which I immediately rejected.) Now I find out my mods are linked there. I could have found that out myself if I had bothered to try and navigate the site. I am so incensed I don't know where to start. From other site pages I've read it's nearly impossible to get a reply to an email let alone have files removed. I had this crap with Softpedia earlier in the year after getting a ton of emails (one for each mod) to say they had uploaded my mods....after the fact...and when I checked they had altered my Readmes which all have "No re-uploading allowed without asking first." Fortunately I was able to have them removed within 24hrs, but I know of other modders, like Korana, who have had no luck at all in having their work removed. That was a few months ago so I don't know if that's changed since. I've posted info about Gmods in various places as other people have so I hope it has some effect. There's not much we can do about other sites that do similar things, but I still can't get over how they come here, and to other sites, to announce their theft. Looks like I have some frustrating times ahead trying to communicate with Gmods staff. I'm just in the mood for it since my hard drive died too. And thanks Hey You...yes, I have everything well and truly backed up...this time. :) I learned my lesson when the same drive died last year and Seagate "repaired" it because of faulty firmware. Not done by me, but factory original. EDIT: I found my mod entries. The first thing I'm doing is commenting in every entry that they are to be removed immediately and they were uploaded without permission as stated in my Readme's.. That's assuming it goes through without having to make an account. I expect the comments will be removed so I will keep a record and take a screen shot. Then they can expect a caustic email. Second Edit: Well that didn't work. Adding a comment gets an error page. I am not surprised. This is hopeless. Every thing I do ends in an error page. I can't even "claim" my account or register and account with my user name as it says there's already someone with that name. ME! If I try to register with another user name how do I prove who I am? I can't imagine that going well. I'm just going in circles and getting nowhere. There's no Admin contact info that I can see. It was suggested to me that I remove my mods form here to mess up Gmods links, but I would prefer to have them removed from Gmods. However that seems unlikely. Any other suggestions?
  2. This may interest people here. It's Kreisher himself apologizing in a video for using files without permission. He also speaks about Tesnexus and the previous thread here. It's called - Apology....I haven't watched all of it since it goes on and on for nearly 7 minutes and is repetitive. It was posted on July 6th this year. http://gmod.com/video/Gmod%20Apology If you Google Gmod.com you find other sites with complaints including Bioware as well as a heap of Gmod promotion pages. BTW I only bothered because my games drive died today and I have nothing better to do at the moment but grieve for it.
  3. Really? This thread was started in a much nicer tone? I read words like "worst", "so called", "unrealistic", "disappointed". This is not a nice way to START a thread either. And you cannot expect all people responding to this will react in a humble manner. And it's not like the OP is a newcomer. S/he has hundreds of posts already. So s/he has seen at least a handful of these discussions. So why another one? To become known in this forum? Become known by making a "better built mod", sworddragon. Not by starting an aggressive thread, which repeats a beaten-up subject. Surely you're not serious. There's nothing aggressive about the words you highlighted, but the truth as seen by the OP and I might add, many others who don't bother to express it because of the reaction they get even if they do it in a polite way. Everyone has a different view of their game and realism is the one word of all of them that gets people worked up. Realism to me as far as this game goes is how Bethesda presented it, without the skimpy, sexy stuff, some of which I use myself. They gave us an editor so people can do whatever they like and thankfully, there are a lot of choices to suit varied tastes. Bypassing the swear filter as Heartcloud did is more aggressive because if (s)he could have said exactly as the acronyms used it would have been even more downright rude. I was talking about newcomers to the site being put off, (as well as old ones) not specifically the OP. Show me where it states someone can't discuss any topic they wish in a reasonable manner, which compared to some posts and threads on this forum, this one is. At least "sworddragon" didn't trash specific mods (or belittle people directly) as I've seen done on this forum by others. No don't bother, I have other avenues to express my views so I'm the one beating a dead horse here as much as I hate the expression. It's so unoriginal and of no constructive use. I do believe everyone has the right to their opinion without outright flaming, even if others don't.
  4. You know Heartcloud, the OP has a right to an opinion just as you have as I said in the last one, but he or she put it in a much nicer tone. Are you saying the Nexus is only here to cater to the sexy and skimpy mods and nothing else? Because that's what it sounds like. Yes, as another person said, sex sells, but it's not the be all and end all of modding or gaming. Put a label on a mod and call it "Sexy" something or other and you guarantee views and downloads and I think some of the time it's for attention and kudos deserved or not. People who make the best mods, skimpy or otherwise don't need feel the need to go to that extreme. Do we see people rolling their eyes at all the "help me with OBMM or FCOM etc, etc" posts? No we don't. It seems to me the people who jump on these threads with indignation are the insecure ones when they have to defend their choices particularly related to sexy, skimpy or nude mods. Not everyone has the same taste and there are 1000's of mods to cater to all of them if one searches through the categories. Your post and others like it, is rude and not at all welcoming of new members or ones who rarely post, nor is it encouraging them to be part of the community. You're quite correct on all points. It is an insular community, particular of late, which is why I often find myself distancing myself from it, coming back and going away again in disgust at the attitude of many people. And yes that means not just the Nexus. If you're not talking about the latest new body mod, sexy armour or manga you may as well just give up. Please don't give up on your mod though. There are people who will choose your mod because it suits their style of play and there are other people still making non sexy mods, some in production for a very long time, who are still going strong. After all's said and done, and as is often said it is a single player game and people can choose what they like in their game. We don't necessarily have to like it, but most of us don't ridicule others for that choice either as some are doing. @Darigaz17 How unoriginal. This gets really old as well. Asking for a thread to be locked because you don't like it is not up to you, especially when no-one has caused a problem. Why did you look here anyway except to flame. Can you not be more constructive instead of posting that useless image.
  5. Just to make it abundantly clear in case my first post was ambiguous NONE of my mods are to appear on your site, not do I want you linking to my mod pages. This includes my user name and references to me or my mods. Perhaps Bethesda would like to hear about this underhanded and offensive effort to mine sites for content related to their games, especially if as it seems there's the likelihood of you making money from these files. EDIT: Another reminder...stay out of my profile. I don't wish to add you as a friend.
  6. Just so other people know I have rejected your friend request. I don't even know why you would do this.
  7. We aren't trying to Leech Jim_uk, we are trying to create a useful site that brings more exposure to mod and modders. Nexus is not only mod site on the net. I can see the value of linking to the file page - this would also encourage users to contact the developer of the mod. I'll see if we can makes some changes on our end. Modders - what do you think? Since you're asking modders what they think I agree totally with Jim_uk. Link to the file page only and not the download link. Make a database list of links only as Jim already suggested otherwise you will very quickly alienate your site from the community as word gets around. Even though further in this thread you've said you'll make changes, I don't want an account auto created in my name for any reason whatsoever. I particularly don't want people trying to contact me from sites other than where my mods are hosted either as I won't support them that way and they are not to be hosted anywhere I unless I personally upload them......just to be clear, as I read a previous thread here about your site and it's proposed methods. I already see some mods there with auto created accounts for authors who may not be very happy about it because I doubt they've been contacted. Edit: Since you mention there are other mod sites besides Tesnexus it leads me to think you'll go ahead anyway so I'll be notifying the ones where I have my mods hosted.
  8. You just made my point for me with one image. Well done. @ lonewolf_kai  Nah, that was just a response to the post I was quoting. As I said it's not a poll so we don't vote.
  9. I'm with wrinklyninja 100%. If I get an email from them my answer will be a resounding no. I've read the topics here and at the official forums and they definitely started out on the wrong foot. Now they "appear" to be contrite and are asking permission but that says nothing as far as I'm concerned. Once someone agrees to their files being on the site what guarantee is there of what happens to them. Access to update, delete or anything else an author may wish to do? At least they are asking this time unlike Softpedia earlier in the year. I received 15 emails on after the other to tell me they had added my mods to their database...after the fact, and despite that my readmes say to ask me first. My readme's were also altered and permission info and credits for resources were not included. Anyway, long story shortened, I was was able to have them removed after I emailed their contact person with some very stern responses to their actions. Unfortunately, other modders I know of at other forums have had no luck in getting their mods removed from Softpedia and don't get a reply from the site managers either. In the end there's little one can do to stop other individuals or sites uploading mods without permission. If they don't ask, or even if they tell you after they've done it when it's difficult or impossible to get them removed, many modders would never even know unless someone spotted them and knew the authors wishes. Not saying gmod.com would do this particularly after the furor, but mods and other files can be hidden behind permission access restrictions as some forums are known to do.
  10. And another comment like this. :ermm: Everyone is entitled to an opinion within reason. No-one has to read it if they don't like it just the same as the tired old comment "don't download or look if you don't like it." That statement is true, but it really is getting old and boring when it's used as a stock phrase to shut people up. It more or less says don't bother speaking unless you agree with the majority because your opinion or choices are valueless. Not everyone agrees do they? Maybe that's one vote against you and your vote null and void except this isn't a poll. I happen to like some skimpy gear as well, but there is a limit. But why would I bother explaining myself. Quasimojo, I agree and if people have to keep justifying their preferences, especially when questioned, or I should perhaps say queried in a thread like this, I think that says something more revealing. No pun intended. To the OP, If you want the bodies and can't find the sex animations and mods...you're not searching enough. They are here, there and everywhere and not difficult to find if that's your scene. Personally, SIM sex in a game like Oblivion or any rpg for that matter, interests me about as much as watching paint dry. Quests and adventure are more my thing and before anyone brings up that other tired phrase about "blood and violence" when these topics are started, not all games rely on gore and severed limbs, yet still have an immersion factor.
  11. You forgot the plethora of this type of Oblivion mod that one can stumble across when browsing various Oblivion sites either out of interest in other people's opinions or searching for mods. I can tell you the pregnancy mods on those sites are not for role playing in the sense people here think of it. To say it would make you lose your faith in humanity and as a female give you nightmares is an understatement. Raping a pregnant woman, torture...you name it, it's out there. For Oblivion. Then, there are the other types of mods that can only be called morally bankrupt and I'm not talking about the usual sex mod one would see here. Some sites are obvious in what they host, others are not. To reiterate what Vagrant0 has said I am also NOT suggesting anything like that regarding the author of this particular mod. I find I agree completely with the above. Thank you for the first post I can actually agree on. I see Marharth's point of view here as well. I was going to stay out of this discussion since for one, I've never been pregnant and never wanted to be, and two, I can't see any point in role playing a pregnant protagonist who deliberately goes into combat which is what most, if not all games make the player do. Understandably, If a pregnant woman found herself under attack through no fault of her own, then yes she would have to fight or die, but to deliberately seek out combat and danger that would probably kill her and her child she would have to be suicidal or have a death wish. At the least if one wanted to role play a pregnant woman in an intentional combat situation there should be penalties according to the physical condition of the woman, not just that she looks pregnant in a special set of armour. Otherwise I can't see the point in role playing pregnancy in combat. Some of the points being made about relationships, sexual and otherwise, in hostile environments or times of great stress, in REAL life are true enough and part of human nature for reasons of comfort, relief of stress and survival instincts, but I thought this topic was about role playing in games, not reality. Another point as to the realism aspect mentioned so often here......why should this be considered realistic when any other time the word realism is used related to these games people jump up and down in indignation and point out that the games we play are fantasy and not real life therefore anything goes. Yes, in a fantasy game one could play as a pregnant female, but it's not realistic. It's fantasy.
  12. The first thing that puts me off and I suspect many others, is when someone says they are too lazy to do something. Time constraints and other real life issues are a different thing to being too lazy, which suggests you want people to do everything for you. Your post is quite literate and well written so you're obviously not stupid. You need to realize having someone do this for you is not going to be as short a process as you may think so the time factor is also going to be longer than you anticipate. You are still going to have to spend quite some time working things out for yourself like most other people do, or research what you need even if someone is willing to do this. Not me though, I'm afraid. I'm more than happy to help people who try to help themselves, but you started out on the wrong foot here even if your intentions were not quite as you outlined them. Also take note of Candex post about different setups and also your operating system, among many other things. if you have problems with OBMM though, Wyre Bash is going to be a lot harder. Offering money is not a solution to your problems either, but you may get someone willing to do it that way. There are tutorial videos on Youtube you might get some help from. That's what readme's are for. Go through the mod categories on the main site and read up on them and especially note any requirements they may have. There are Lists of recommended mods if you search for them but the only person who really knows what you want is you. However, a good place to start for OBMM is here: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Oblivion_Mod_Manager_how-to_site Or here which also includes mod basics: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ I know someone is going to say my post sounds mean, but lazy doesn't cut it really.
  13. On the form where you created your dogs you will see their stats, for example Speed, Strength, Intelligence etc. Change the Intelligence to 30 and save the change by clicking OK and then save the esp. Make sure you do it for every dog in their Stats form as well. You might find my Creature Companion Tutorial of some help. It has screen shots and is explained step by step for users not familiar with a lot of functions. You don't have to do make companions the way I do, but it will help you with a lot of things. http://savageartistry.darkbb.com/t129-my-simple-creature-companion-tutorial
  14. You have to give them an Intelligence of at least 30 to follow through load doors and so they will fast travel with you. This also means they can open normal doors and gates but is a minor issue unless you planned to make a yard for them or something along those lines.
  15. No, it's all cool as far as I'm concerned and I know what you meant. :) That's why I love emoticons...there should be one for me when I put my foot in it and don't always say what I want in the way I mean it to sound. @ myrmaad and all Back in 1993 I took a long break from my job for stress and other reasons. I did a few courses in child care and applied for a Govt job as a child home carer (Family Day Care) for working people who needed after school care for their kids, mother's who returned to work and needed baby care and other things along those lines. I passed all the requirements and police checks, did the extra courses and would have got the job except I was, and am still living in a rented house and there were a number of changes, including structural inside and out in the yard, that would have had to be made to the house to make it safe as per the guidelines for other people's children to be allowed to be here. Things like childproof cupboard door handles, higher shelves, safer outdoor fencing....a lot of common sense things I can't remember now, but I would bet are not part of many homes with children. The trouble is the Govt can't police things like that as much as it should be in a lot of cases. The child care protection agency is so understaffed even more serious things get by them, let alone whether or not people have their detergents locked away out of reach. I went back to nursing anyway as it was a big part of my life and despite the stress I missed it. To tell you the truth I was glad I didn't get the child care job in the end because it scared the heck out of me. Being responsible for other people's children in my home when I could potentially be sued for any little thing, not to mention if a child was sick or was injured somehow and any number of other problems. I would have been living on my nerves.... At least working in a hospital there's immediate backup if things go wrong. Besides that the pay for such responsibility was, and still is pathetic and way below the cost of living index. It's more a job for people with a working partner or other source of main income, because you can't live on it after tax and medicare and other deductions, even working dawn to dusk, which is often the case in home child care. I eventually settled for occasionally baby sitting and caring for my two nieces on my days off when my brother, who is a single parent and works long hours, needed a break. They are both now grown up and finishing at University and are wonderful, independent young ladies.
  16. Of course you have the right to report it. As with many other topics in this so called Debate area though it would be nice if people did stay on topic instead of going off course and getting uptight which eventually snowballs into threads being locked. I don't know why I bothered coming back. The childless comment was because the topic is about people's choice regarding kids or no kids and people without children, in my opinion, are being looked down on even in this thread. It's like being in another minority group.
  17. Permission from friends? That's an interesting concept on an open forum where anyone may post. Why do you need permission from others to speak your mind? You are also guilty of personal attack here towards another member in case you haven't realized it. Also if you look in your profile settings you'll find options to block a particular person or persons so you don't see their posts. Only works if you're logged in of course. You could also not participate in any topic. Personally, I found your accusations about bitterness and jealousy offensive even though you've recanted the jealousy part. I suffer neither of those emotions, yet I have been ostracized because of my childlessness. Work outings and other functions where children may be invited for example......people don't know what to do with the "one who has no kids" in a working or social environment. It's even worse when you're divorced and have no kids, as that's really against the norm. It's almost like I have a transmittable disease because I didn't have a partner or children to prove I was a viable and valued member of society. Personally, I used to be bored senseless with the endless descriptions of the birth process, how long labour lasted and all the rest of the gory details every time the mothers got together. Once is OK, but not a refresher every time in case it wasn't emphasized enough that mother A had it worse than mother B like some kind of competition. Half the time the actual kids weren't even mentioned. That's also a form of exclusion in a social setting, especially when there are other people, not only myself, who don't have kids and have other interests. Other topics of discussion usually die very quickly or people drift into groups of "with kids" and "without." Not wanting kids or not being able to have them does not automatically make a person bitter. Ginnyfizz, or as you ignorantly call her Redhead, comes across as quite level headed and speaks as a realist rather than from supposition. Accusations of not caring for children because one doesn't have them or want them are baseless and actually cruel. I lost both parents years ago, but for many years I worked in hospitals and nursing homes where the elderly very often suffered many types of dementia including Alzheimer's Disease. An eight hour working day can be difficult and emotionally draining. I can't imagine having that on a 24 hour basis even with respite no matter how much one loves their relative. However, caring for the elderly which is not easy and doesn't have a great record in many areas in Western society is for another topic. While caring for kids should be an imperative for society as a whole, and not necessarily only as breeding individuals, it should also work at both of the ends of the age spectrum. And in between for that matter. Exactly and to the point. Lisnpuppy, that maybe so, but as long as people keep to a degree of civility we childless have a right to state our position as much as the next person. Moderators have posted in this discussion. :)
  18. >This< I am one of those people who could not have children. I refused to let the idea of having kids be my raison d'etre and consequently did not spend either a huge amount of financial resources (neither mine nor the NHS's)or emotional resources in obsessing about getting kids. I got on with my life, recognising that for me, it was not to be. I really do wish that people would not portray the childless as being either lacking in true emotion or maturity. My infertility was caused by PCOS. And now I'm menopausal. Better shoot me now then. And for the childless by choice, it can often be a courageous choice given the amount of pressure and odd/pitying/condescending/horrified looks that you get. Shame on you Bben46, I would really have expected better from you. Hedonistic lifestyle does not come into it in many cases. Expecially in this day and age of precarious employment situations - I for example am at risk of redundancy YET AGAIN. And I'm not on my own. I agree with this post and usually you and I don't agree on anything. :) We are both in similar situations actually, age wise, economy and the job situation and perhaps more like hard headedness. Besides having a childhood I wouldn't wish on anyone else, I have never had any maternal instinct, at all. I never wanted children or had the desire to go along with the expected house with a picket fence and 3 kids after I got married despite pressure from family and friends. My husband felt the same way which was all fine until I reached my mid 30's and had a brief yearning because the clock was ticking as the expression goes. I then found it was impossible to have kids, and always would have been. Ironically, partly because of that brief change of heart, which wasn't real but a response to biology and outside pressures, my husband left me and we later divorced. He had two children from a previous marriage which ended badly and had an irrational fear of it happening again, so he got out while he could. There were other reasons it all fell apart, but that was the overlying one. I don't dislike kids or anything remotely like that, but I truly have no maternal feelings at all and I cannot begin to understand the feelings a mother or father have for their offspring, especially a mother who has carried that child and given birth to it. Perhaps I could be seen as having some kind of psych or personality defect by some, but I made a choice, especially feeling the way I did and still do, even though it's too late anyway. I don't feel I've missed out on anything because of it. I do feel for people who are unable to have their own children due to infertility, but I don't "feel" or understand the desire and desperation of it. I also believe some people just shouldn't be parents, myself included. Over my long nursing career and my own childhood, I've seen plenty of the good and bad of family life. @ draconix I read your other post and for the most part I agree with what you had to say. However, having children is absolutely no guarantee of having them with you in your old age. As I said above, over my nursing career I've had plenty of time to observe what very often happens between elderly parents and children especially when finances are concerned. Children are no guarantee of not being alone in old age. Read the above post by Ginnyfizz which says everything I would have had I noticed your post before.
  19. Dingoes are considered more or less vermin by many, particularly farmers, even though they are Australia's native dog. There is a move to consider them as a protected species because they are becoming endangered, but that's caused as huge debate between conservationists and farmers. Dingoes in the wild are solitary and generally shun human contact unless they are starving which is pretty common since their habitat is shrinking all the time as with other species of animals. There's also been some interbreeding with feral domestic dogs which changes their basic nature and these are often the ones that take sheep or other livestock and doesn't do their reputation any good. Then there have been a few controversies over the years, the most known being the Lindy Chamberlain story where her baby was apparently taken by a dingo back in 1980. The jury is still out on that for many people as there were many inconsistencies to the story so I won't go into it here as it's not the place to do so anyway. What many people seem to forget is the dingo is (now) a wild animal not a pet dog, although many people keep them and usually have to have a license to do so in some states. People who do keep them and raise them do it to help the species and try to educate people but due to preconceived ideas and sensationalized news stories it's an uphill battle. Dingoes are not at all like domestic dogs despite their appearance and by nature are more like wolves, but kept as pets they are very loving, smart and loyal. Historically the Aboriginal people used to value them as guard dogs and hunting companions so they weren't really that wild until much later when Europeans first came here. Dingoes actually came to Australia from South East Asia 40,000 years ago according to DNA and genetic investigation. In fact I just discovered something else I didn't know by checking out a few sites. The Red and Blue Heeler and the Kelpie, (my own dog is a mix of Kelpie and Red Heeler), are dingo hybrids. The Red Heeler actually looks very dingo like except they are of a very much stockier build rather than lean and streamlined. Quoted from this small article all about the dingo, it's known history and nature. http://www.outback-australia-travel-secrets.com/australian_dingo.html
  20. If you think banning Pit Bulls is ridiculous imagine how owners of Maltese Terriers feel in this country. They've been declared a "dangerous and menacing" dog along with the Chihuahua. I agree they are yappy and can be really annoying, but as everyone is saying it's the owners who need controlling before the dogs. Being so small (and sharp at one end ;D ) does pose a danger to small children when these so called toy dogs are not controlled properly though. Small toy dogs being made a fashion statement, carried around in a handbag and likened to disposable toys by certain celebrities doesn't help matters either. They need socializing not Gucci. :whistling: Every time there's a dog attack there's a hue and cry and lobby groups call for bans are other stupid restrictions. Even the beautiful Dalmatian, Rough Collie (Lassie), German Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog are on the list of dangerous dogs because at some time one has bitten a human or shown aggression. My dog is half Aussie Cattle dog and half Aussie Kelpie and you couldn't ask for a more loving and smart companion dog. Cattle dogs are trained to nip the heels of cattle to move them along when herding and it's also a trait they inherit, but it's easy enough to train them out of it with care. I've never seen a real Pit Bull except on TV or in pictures, but if they are anything like Rottweilers and Dobermans, which I have been around and are beautiful animals, they would be very loving and loyal dogs. In the right hands. I've had the pleasure to own or associate with dogs that are smarter and have more common sense than some people I've met. :) It's the morons of the world who make it difficult for the rest of us, and it seems the ones the Govt and other authorities listen to for reasons I have yet to fathom.
  21. Using the Construction Set find the skeleton in the Creatures list and open it's Form. On the Stats Tab which is the first one you'll see anyway, the attributes are on the top right. Change Intelligence to at least 30 which is the point where actors and creatures can follow through doors and also fast travel with you. Note that creatures a higher intelligence than default means they will also open doors and gates which is less of an issue than not following and getting stuck. I don't know if it can be edited via the console in game for creatures, eg a skeleton, but it would be better to do it via the CS. Edit: I almost forgot. Make sure you're only editing a skeleton with a unique ID from a mod or one you make yourself and not the default skeleton creature.
  22. Maigrets

    Depression

Get a grip....really? Listen to yourself. This subject is about facts that exist not a speculative one like "What would I do if I won the lottery." No-one pioneered mental illness besides the people who suffer it, but I think you probably meant pioneering research into it. Or I hope so. And yes, I do believe they would have sounded more scientific because they were (and still are) scientists and medical professionals dealing with an issue requiring that level of knowledge. It takes a medical or scientific background in the field of medicine, psychology and psychiatry and pharmacology, etc, to achieve success in this field and even the experts didn't pull these ideas out of nowhere. That is not meant to sound elitist or offensive or however you are likely to take it. It's fact whether that's today or 200 years ago. There is a lot of quackery and misinformation related to mental illness and it's history. It's not out of the realm of possibility that random speculation has bought us breakthroughs in many fields of invention and science, past, present and future, but in this case it's highly unlikely without "experience," training and background in the field. By the way, it's not "man." It's "Get a grip, woman." You got the wrong gender. And I wonder again why I don't post in the Debates area more often, though I read it most days and see the insults and personal attacks that go on here. @ grannywils Thank you for your excellent post and I agree 100%. I used to take part in a few debates here a couple of years ago, or it seems like it, but I was told having an opinion or expressing one's view of a situation is NOT debating and to take it elsewhere which I have done. It seems having personal experience is also frowned upon, at least by some, so there aren't many options left it seems. This particular topic interested me because of having personal experience, but being told by people who know no better that FACTS that actually do exist don't stand for themselves and intimating perhaps those facts are wrong in this instance on this particular subject, is wearing and immature. @ Lisnpuppy Exactly. I couldn't have described it better. Thank you. And now I really am out of this thread.

It could be. Some people who stay inside their homes for too long will develop stir craziness (for anyone who doesn't know what this is, it's basically just a form of anxiety). However, stir craziness, I don't think, causes psycological problems, which if it did, is the only thing I can think of that free time could contribute to. So do I think stir craziness causes it? No, but it sounds like an interesting cause should it be true. Me thinks cabin fever fit's in there as well, as would self-isolation. A couple of pages ago Grannywils asked if this topic was about depression. It was, but it sure isn't now. Now it's flowed over into the realm of fantasy, invented theories and supposition. Before I bow out also I'd just like to say that isolation and cabin fever (so called) are more often the RESULT of depression than a cause. I also cannot imagine anyone becoming depressed because they had too much free time... :ermm: unless there were predisposing circumstances, none of which fit here. Anxiety (Not cabin fever ) :wallbash: is also PART of the depression state, depending on the type of depression.
  24. And with amazing regularity people are told they can't have an opinion on the subject or discuss it sensibly. With the emphasis on sensibly. I know you didn't say this ub3rman, but I'm pointing something out to other people who like to jump in when this subject is discussed, or an attempt is made to discuss it. There is no ruling majority on the subject of skimpy vs non skimpy, although some seem to think they belong to the skimpy plus ruling side. People should be able to express a preference for either (as long as it's kept civil) without being shut down, and/or called a prude or pervert, as I've seen happen many times before. I don't like anime at all, in any form, and I should be able to say so as I don't intend to trash particular mods or their creators. I happen to agree with the OP and Isabela on clothing and armour more fitting to the spirit of the actual base game, and as much as people hate the word "realism" in a fantasy setting there is huge scope for just that as far as believability goes. However, I do use a lot of armour, clothing, (skimpy and not) hair and weapons that don't fit the setting and looks out of place, if I play in 3rd person to see it more than once that is. I've come to prefer playing in 1st person 95% of the time. It's just as well the game is so versatile and we can play as we like with the type of mods we like, but we should still have a right to discuss a preference. Trouble is as much as this is a viable subject, some people just can't help themselves and turn it into an immature flame fest because of their own insecurity.

    Depression

Because people have been able to communicate via the written word, story telling and other means which has kept history alive for those centuries and longer. Most of the types of mental illness we identify now have been around for as long as man has been able to communicate and pass on knowledge and have also been called many different names. Melancholia was one name given to various types of depression. They are still the same thing, no matter what they are called today. Read this as a starting point and find out about mental illness through the centuries from the Ancient Greeks, the Romans, Persia and Europe for example. In other words, all of past civilization where history has been recorded mentions depression in one form or another. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_depression Perhaps you could do the same and prove your argument which is devoid of facts and is just supposition in one sentence statements. Here is another starting point, it's basic as I'm not going to do your research for you. You will notice there are seven commonly recognized causes of depression and genetics is very high on the list, figuratively speaking. http://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/public/depression/causesofdepression/genetics.cfm One can't or shouldn't ultimately speak about depression or any other mental illness which depression is in fact, without discussing treatments, although the continuing point that keeps raising it's head about whether people actually need treatment or not, (and what that should be) is getting a bit wearing. Lisnpuppy's heartfelt story was recognized by me and I have more than good reason to empathize. Her story wasn't the only one by the way, as personally revealing and informative as it was. As for me, I mentioned my personal experience in passing a few pages back, but I'm afraid my extended story is not for public consumption. I am not and I stress NOT, having a go at anyone who does find it helpful or informative to speak on public forums about their private life. However, this is not something I feel comfortable doing, at least more than I already have here or elsewhere. Suffice to say Lisnpuppy and I have a lot in common. Also, as Marharth kept saying to me, "what has personal experience got to do with anything?" I wonder Marharth if this is why you didn't acknowledge Lisnpuppy's post or does it make you feel uncomfortable? Personal experience is one of the most valuable tools in finding solutions to many problems, which is why patient case histories are so valuable to the researchers looking for cause and solutions.
