  1. Personally I choose Mr. House. While he is quite despotic and has little regard for individual human (although same could be said about any other faction) he is the only one with an actual longer term plan. Plus his ability to accurately predict eventual future events and lack of of petty feelings (no prejudices towards "races" that used to be humans, lack of interest in small time revenges, etc.) are also a bonus. Also he has already demonstrated that his plans tend to bear fruits (saving Vegas from nuclear holocaust, manipulating NCR into signing a treaty clearly beneficial to him). Maximum efficiency with as much as possible personal freedom is the best thing you can hope for when you live in a crapsack world. NCR under Kimball is in my opinion a shadow of what it used to be under Tandi presidency. Ironically the best thing it can hope for is loosing the whole Mojave campaign,as it would be the impulse to change it's decaying political body. Victory in Mojave would only win Kimball more support and promote individuals like Moore and Oliver. Caesars Legion is a bunch of murderous misogynistic Luddite slavers, best chance for future my ass. Bonus points for falling after its leaders (who unlike House isn't ageless) death. I tend to have mixed feelings towards wild card ending. On one hand it would be possible to Courier to create haven on earth with all his resources. On the other Courier is basically ax-crazy (judging from number of people he killed, whether those people deserved it is another thing), brain-damaged, half machine (hello Big MT and dr. Usanagi) half mutant (since most of perks are clearly mutations: Toughness (bulletproof skin isn't quite normal), Solar powered (healing factor PLUS superhuman strength while under the sun isn't either), not to mention rad child, atomic and the one that removes radiation over time) clad in power armor. He is basically good old Frank Horrigan MK. II, with a golden heart (if good karma) but still. Terrific enforcer, guy/gal you would call when you need a hole punched in some troublesome deathclaw, but I doubt he/she would make good faction leader.
  2. Voiced protagonist? Might had voice modulator implant (something similar to one in Project Nevada) due to some past ilness/to be better at social skills. Hell, you might even be a synth if you want. Father might have grafted original Shawn's memories into one to see if it is possible to move his own awarness to new body (makes sense since he has a cancer) and set you free to monitor if you trully are Shawn (he might have spent some time with original one after he defroze him, we have seen that an Institute is fully capable of manipulating synth's memories), that would explain why there are no hardcore needs (especially since it wouldn't be hard to implement them, compared to, for example whole stronghold building thing) and just how competent combatant you beacame. TL;DR: With right backstory you can play anything you want without too many logical problems.
  3. Calculators which could solve equations much faster than human brain, not to mention chance of making an error, vehicles that allow us to travel faster than we could with our legs and thats not even tip of an iceberg. Most funny thing are glasses. Originally only those near/far sighted would use them, but now we have things like google glasses/their chineese clones which are also used by people without any sight problems, just for usefulness of their extra options. Who knows what would happen if we develop prosthetics that would be in every way better than their biological analogues, in my opinion 30 years from now sportsmen in paraolympics would be the ones setting records.
  4. Probably get killed by the raiders. But assuming that I'd become dethclaw chewing, napalm spitting, soul eating lizard king like any protagonist I'd join the institute, once becoming the director I'd get the old guard (including all synth retention bureau, since it's never good to have secret police that you are not sure is loyal to you) executed and "convince" the rest that it would be in their best interest to do what I tell them to do. Then I'd use the technology from institute to turn the Boston area into industrial powerhouse instead of doing some illuminati bullshit. Or I'd join the minutemen, but instead of nuking the institute I'd occupy it and have some show trial for most important/troublesome scientists to boost morale and remove possible future troubles. The rest would start doing something useful instead of already mentioned illuminati stuff. Basically some wasteland edition of operation paperclip. Really, blowing facility which could let Boston thrive, if led by someone sensible, is huge waste. End effect would be the same. Also no more synth production to use them as slaves. That doesn't mean no more robots for military/industry uses, just not ones with true AI. Also I'd convince capitan Zao that Prydwen is full of capitalists planing to bomb China again and would be great for target practice for those tactical nukes he still has.
  5. Forgot about that, that would explain a lot. Yes, that would explain how gen 1 and 2, which are basically more humanoid robots with advanced AI, are powered but how could that work with gen 3 (unless it's some advanced mumbo jumbo reverse-engineered from alien tech, like Skynet and many Enclave technologies. That would basically mean that FEV explains weird mutations and aliens explain weird tech).
  6. I'd like to know how are the gen 3 synths programmed, I mean they are entirely made of pre-made organic components, grown using Father's DNA and modyfied with FEV, which are then put together using some high tech mumbo jumbo (I mean since in Big MT they were able to create technology witch will allow brain to wirelessly control body, creating body from puzzle-like pieces doesn't seem high tech at all). And how exactly was it possible to transfer curie's awarness to gen 3 body. You could do something simillar in Fo2 with Skynet, but in that case brain was only used as a processor. Also how is that possible for organic synths to live without consumption of food or water. Older, mechanical generation would only require power supply but living tissue needs nutrition (for both energy and regeneration).
  7. Non human races I'm aware of 1)http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43732/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D43732%26preview%3D&pUp=1 robotic race with some armor conversions and perks http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44617/?tab=3&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fuser%3D0%26id%3D44617%26gid%3D130 super mutant with nightkin option, some armor conversions and perks http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35045/? alien hybrid http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35531/? playble ghoul with "ghoulish" abilities (depends if you count ghouls as non human) http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/56961/? playable ghoul without anything else (good if you want to create "personalized" ghoul perk), http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54460/?
