  1. Strange, the only thing that shows any version history is the launcher icon (the dark grey amulet) which shows as 1.0.0.83, there is nothing that I can find in the Witcher folder that says .exe yet the game runs, even managed to get an old savegame I found on another drive to work which will save a bit of time (location :- Swamp outside Visima), there is a 34Kb DIR file that says Patch although I have no idea what programme would be needed to open it, I would therefore assume that the patches must have been applied but am as yet unable to ascertain the exact version.

OK there are two ways to find out what version you are on .

    (1) Go to your install directory and open The Witcher folder and there you should see a system folder if you open that you should see the witcher exe hover your mouse over it and it should read 1.5.0.1304

    (2) launch game and when you get to the new/load game screen click options and then click video options and uncheck full screen and then accept and when your screen resizes your game version should be in the upper left of the screen the latest game version is 1.4.5.1304 . if yours says this then you are on the 1.5 patch .

  2. Too late to edit last post, but after running the TWEE with the language pack and then the 1.5 patch, when I hover the mouse over the launcher it reads 1.0.0.83, yet the 1.4 patch took ages to update (in fact i went to bed and left it to it's own devices!) so I would have expected it to at least show as 1.4.

To see if the patch took effect you will need to go to your witcher/system folder and hover your mouse over the witcher exe and it should show 1.4.5.1280 i think for the 1.4 patch but if it shows 1.5.0.1304 then that would be the 1.5 patch

  3. I'm more interested in how your choices from Witcher 1 affect the new game, if there is a significant change then playing W1 down a particular route and then following it through W2 becomes a very interesting option.

The only thing i know for certain is i have started my 3rd play . One non import and 2 imported and i`ve gotten 3 different outcomes just in the prolog in the LaVellet SP? castle scene concerning Aryan and his mother . Of course if you save Aryan you get to help him later but concerning his mother both times i didn`t let Aryan live and in one scene she was being tortured and in the other scene she was in a prison cell without being tortured . In both cases though she still helps you .

  4. hiya

this Topic is about the Thing's from Witcher 1, that gets import in Witcher 2.

    First thing i notice.

1.Raven armor (very bad Stats tho)

    2.Aerondight (very low Silver Sword)

Thing's to get pissed of about.

1.I made Triss as pissed of as posable in Witcher 1, but in Witcher 2 she act like she is the Witcher Soul Mate ???? what happend to Shani or Alvin in that matter??

2.the Witcher bestiary complete gone, like he forgoten anything in few months.???

3.Scoia'tael act like a enemy, ?? in Witcher 1 they almost begged for help from the Witcher.

4.Witcher is bone Dry in money, i was haveing like 10,000 gold in Witcher 1??

Place your Notice things from import savegames.

    (1) No Shani in Witcher 2 and Alvin was the Grandmaster so therefore he`s not in Witcher 2 either

    (2) You can forget about the TW 1 bestiary all monsters are different in Witcher 2

    (3) You will get the opportunity to side with either Roche or Scoia`tael in Witcher 2

    (4) You don`t get any or very little money from TW1 as the devs didn`t want the game to be lopsided or in more common terms they did not want you to be able to just buy everything in sight but instead have to work for it ...just like TW 1 .

As for Raven`s Armor and the swords ...not to worry there are a lot better armor and swords in the game

  5. hey thanks for the look at this post

basicly i the game dosnt instl all the way and i get a cdc error same one every time

SO wtf is dvdx8 dvd9 compatible is this something i can fix with software I hope?

Generally that error means that your computer or more specifically your DVD player cannot read dual layer DVD`s . You might try copy and paste to your hard drive although you may still get the same error but it`s worth a shot just to see

  6. I've just re-installed the original Witcher, downloaded the 1.5 patch but when I try and apply it I get a message telling me that it doesn't recognise the game version, should I download all the other patches and apply them in sequence? It was also rather odd that when I uninstalled from my F drive and then re-installed on C I wasn't asked for the game serial code or to register it either, both of which I would expect with an install on a new drive.

PS, viewing the readme it's V1.0, how do you actually check the actual install?

If it`s the original game from 2007 then you need only to download and install the 1.4 patch and relevant language pack first before applying the 1.5 patch .

If you download the 1.4 patch from the link http://www.en.thewitcher.com/the-witcher/1/ it will let you update the game without registering .

To setup the 1.4 (EE) patch download both the 1.4 patch and language pack , then create a folder for example on your desktop and place both the 1.4 patch and language pack in this folder . Then run the 1.4 patch as admin and you should be good to go .

Also if you run windows 7 you will need to update to the 1.5 patch and then go to

http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=minimum.htm and update the tages driver and then remove them.

Updating to the 1.5 patch removes the DRM which will let you play without the disc .

When all is said and done hover your mouse over the witcher exe and the version should read 1.5.0.1304

  7. You could try making an exception in your antivirus for Witcher 2 in case real time protection might be the issue

Also try running the game as administrator and temporarily turning off UAC

Windows 7 should have a builtin memory tester to test your memory sticks

Additionally you could try the 3 GB switch note that you may need to change it back to 2048 after gaming

Open Command prompt as administrator and copy this and paste in the dialog box

    bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072

  8. It seems to be running the latest patch and I verified the game cache, and its fine. Still, I manually forced Steam to re-download the huge patch, but the issue persists. And I tried left clicking during the cutscenes. I've been in communication with CD Projeckt, but still no luck.

You should be able to verify that you have the latest patch by navigating to your install directory and hovering your mouse over the launcher exe and in the dialog box that appears ...should read 0.9.0.754 and the witcher exe located in the bin folder should read 1.2.6276.44681

Just guessing on your install directory but should be similar to the following

    X:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\The Witcher 2

Thanks, I overlooked the file version.....my launcher is the correct version, but the witcher exe is still 0.0.0.0. Game cache is fine according to Steam, and I had deleted the Client Registry blob and AppUpdateStatus, which forced the 9gb patch to download again (or at least I had been led to believe that would do the trick) but it seems I am still missing something?

What you might be able to do is backup your witcher exe to another folder then delete it from your bin folder and then run a file integrity through steam

  9. Got through this part yesterday after about 4 hours and maybe 70 reloads...although i finally snuck through the Kaedweni camp...hope Geralt don`t hold grudges after being turned into a pin cushion that many times

I finally crossed to the wall on the left (same side as the canteen) and followed the wall and tents as much as i could you will need to stun about 5-6 guards and for pete`s sake use Axii on the cook as soon as he says "don`t hurt me master" go up to him and use Axii . The gate you seek is all the way through the camp on the left and if i remember right the cook is the last obstacle before reaching it . :D

  10. Heh, I am back at that point now in my second play through and this time I am not doing so well. Funny that...I have a lag every time I hit the 'Q' key and the delay is long enough for me to get smacked. The last time I did this I had no armor, just had him in his breeches, this time I have on the best armor I can get and not getting anywhere...LOL...go figure. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is, seems to be a delay when i use the 'Q' to get the yrden on the ground, even swapped keyboards. Don't know if this is a game bug or what. I'll keep at it... :wallbash:

Could be a memory leak in there somewhere causing the delay . There have been times as i`m playing the game and Q will not work at all...i don`t know but it`s like the Q key isn`t being pressed at all , same with the E key for block . Generally when this happens i will exit the game and sometimes restart the computer just to be on the safe side and all is well afterwards .

  12. I'm running into audio issues where the sound gets really garbled, static, and cracking noises. I'm also having problems with dialogue and other sounds repeating itself. I don't have this problem with any other games I play. I have a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound system (Camebridge Studios Desktop Surround Sound.)

I`ve heard that some people experiencing the same issues with 5.1 and 7.1 can configure their speakers to 2.1 and everything works normal . If this works for you then i would say that it would be a game issue where a patch would be what it would take to fix it permanently .

  13. Things seem primed for another Wicther game, given the events that are unfolding at the end of TW2

Just finished my 2nd play and sided with Iorveth on this one and yep i do think we will see Witcher 3 in most likely late 2013 or early 2014 given all that CDP Red is doing with the consoles now which is not a bad thing i guess...although some are downright disgusted with them for doing it . But let`s face the fact that not everyone has the means to shell out 1000 dollars for a PC with the economy the way it is .

  14. What all do you need for the Trap for which is needed for the Kayran? I've got the frame. Any other info would be appreciated as it seems they Kayron is the only thing for which I've got left to finishing this part out.

Ok folks found the receipe for the Kayran trap. Once again should have checked with Cedric. Now what gets me for the trap I need 2 Silver ore and to have the Superb Silver Swrod made I need 4 Silver ore. I've only found 2 silver ore and I've been through everything on the map. Is there on 2 in this chapter/Act or is there actually 6 and I'm missing them some where?

I believe the dwarven blacksmith has silver ore to sell

  15. [i'm having problems too, what is the yrden sign supposed to do for me. I've tried dropping it close and far, either way it does not hold the tentacles or help me target them. I'm just getting frustrated and slapped to death.

    I

If you meditated and had your fill of potions . Yrden will be like a trap that holds the tentacles down one at a time so that you can take care of it

  16. You can find Marlena at the burned out mental hospital area...topside and not in the hospital itself . Like you on my 1st play i didn`t know where to find her and had given up on it ...but luckily i hadn`t done the hospital quest yet and that`s how i found her .

I think that by finding Dmitri`s letter of passage and Thaler`s report is ways of connecting the First Witcher game to the second .

As far as the bandit`s hideout ..you access it from the forest and can`t tell you exactly where but i know you cross the river and go up what appears to be a fallen bridge and go to the right a little ways and then go straight into a swamp area...be prepared though more bandits and drowners await . You might check your map for areas that you haven`t explored yet . You should see an elf or two that have been hung . Nice lootables in the area so if your close to your maximum weight you might want to shed some before going there . Press the Z key often to find places of power and lootables > if you haven`t figured it out yet when your moving and hear a metallic whoosh sound and see your medallion go kinda funky that means your close to a place of power .

  17. Hello!

im still running into this issue, i think that turning off Full screen in the options isn't really a "Windowed mode", it simply makes the game smaller but is considered full screen for all intents and purposes. is the traditional way of messing with the games shortcut and adding -w to still work to resolve this issue?

Just tried the -w in both the launcher shortcut and witcher exe and still starts in fullscreen on both

You might try changing your user ini file located in Documents>Witcher 2>config . Under rendering scroll down to fullscreen and if it`s a 1 change to 0

  18. One other thing, all the text shows up weird, like Menu_New_Game.

Sounds like maybe a patch went haywire at some point

If you open the witcher 2 folder and hover your mouse over the launcher the version should read 0.9.0.754 for the 1.2 patch and the witcher 2 exe found in the bin folder should read 1.2.6276.44681

I don`t know if trying to reapply the patch would fix anything or not . The 1.2 patch should be located in

Documents>Witcher 2>downloads . If you do try reapplying the patch be sure and run as administrator and temporarily disable antivirus before running the patch...sometimes they can interfere with the patch updating properly .

  19. There are different possible world states at the start of TW2 depending on various decisions you made in TW1.

Nice, so you've given us a reason to fire up the first game again and replay with different decisions in order to find out the changes in the second game.

    Sneaky....but nice!

My first play was a non import game and the 2nd is where i sided with order and am currently in act 2 siding with non humans just to mess with them a bit to see how it plays out .
