  1. Telling off your boss can sure feel pretty rewarding sometimes, especially if you've got nothing left to lost at your job.
  2. Favorite old game that I still play is Oblivion, although I only play it occasionally now.
  3. I don't really spend much time worrying about who gets banned or for what, that's their business, not mine. I just try to keep my nose clean and move on a in a civil way around the Nexus. It's easier that way.
  4. May 30, 2009. Was never very active here on the forums until recently. Still not as active as I'd like to be.
  5. I seem to remember spending good money on anti spyware and adwware products. I have spent most of my free time the past several days reading up on some tech related things and watching some Youtube videos on the same. I think I've disabled and/or uninstalled most of the spyware and bloat. Now if I could just figure out to permanently disable the sign in on the lock screen. I do miss my Windows 7 already. Can't keep using it though.
  6. Built a new computer the other day and now transferring several large files to the new one. While I wait, I am starting with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMnKPRkhsQU
  7. Last one I watched was Glass with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson. At the end of the film I was left scratching my head and wondering why did I even watch it. i just didn't quite get it, maybe because I've never read a comic book in my entire life. The funny pages on the other hand, yes.
  8. Showing my age a little bit, but Pong started it. In more recent years, as an adult, Company of Heroes reignited it after 10+ years of not gaming at all.
  9. Success!!!! Tried the last slot and got it working. Now I've got to plug in the old pc and start copying and transferring files over to the new pc...including from Soundblaster. @NexBeth: Windows 12 could be a possibility, depending on if and how much of an improvement over 11 it is.
  10. Yeah, it works just fine. Works in my other pc. And I did try to install it just for curiosities sake, didn't seem to do anything. Of course finding drivers for it might be a problem. Creative Soundblaster. Had it likely every bit as long as the rest of that pc.
  11. No, nothing. The sound card I have looks alot like the others I'm seeing online. Even if it is still compatible, probably best to replace it. It is over 10 years old.
  12. Got any suggestions that'll work? I may have a slot underneath the graphics card, but I can't remove that just for a sound card.
  13. Until today, I regularly used Windows 7. Windows 11, in some ways, reminds me a bit of Vista...an OS that I couldn't dump soon enough when 7 was released. Maybe I'll get used to it, but at the moment, I'm not a big fan of it. I have looked a bit into customizing it. I will keep looking, but IMO, you can put all the lipstick you want on a pig, but at the end of the day you've still got Miss Piggy. Sound drivers are up to date. Stayed up most of the night putting it together and banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how some thing were supposed to go together. I got it eventually. It is possible that there is a slot for the sound card I have, but at the moment it would be underneath the graphics card. The sound card is an old Creative SoundBlaster. Bought it about 10 years or so ago (still works just fine). From what I have been reading online, the Rog Stryx z790-f (maybe all the 790's) have this problem. Nobody I have seen online yet has a real answer for it other than an external sound card. USB or an amp, I think. I am out of date on my tech knowledge so the time, assistance, and suggestions people here have given me is appreciated.
  14. Okay Folks, Got the new computer built and it is up and running. Took alot longer than I care to admit (haven't done this in 13 years). Besides the disgusting eyesore that is windows 11, I seem to be having issues with atrocious sound quality from this pc (Asus Rog Strix Z790-f) . I have my old sound card from 13 years ago, but I don't see anywhere to install it. I am guessing it is incompatible with the newer technology. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this audio quality? I mean seriously, elevator music over the telephone has better quality than this. There is absolutely no way that I can do anything with this in it's current state.
  15. Furthest from home I've been is Puerto Rico, but I was too young to even remember the trip. I'd love to travel now, but I neither have the time or money to do so. Being American of primarily English, Scottish, and German descent, I would love to see those places first hand, but with my finances, that'll never happen. I'd love to see NYC again before I die. Haven't been there since 1988, when I was a teenager. At least that's possible to do for me.
  16. Also, keep in mind that the monitor that I currently have is only capable of 1080 resolution. I am hoping that I will still be able to use it. I'm already in debt deep enough as it is. I will eventually have to replace it, but as it stands now, there is nothing wrong with it.
  17. Skyrim and Fallout 4 I'm not really worried about, it's TES VI that the new pc will need to run. My current 13 year old Sandy Bridge cpu (i7 2600k + GTX 780 Ti GPU) run Skyrim and FO4 just fine...well, until about 6-7 months ago when it started stuttering and randomly crashing (the pc crashes. I had to stop gaming because of this). At any rate, I have what I believe I need on order. The case for the new build should hopefully fit everything. The measurements I've seen seem to indicate everything will fit. This is it here.
  18. Just watched the first episode of Fallout the other day. Not too bad so far. Hopefully it is structured a little better than The Ones who Live was. That had potential, but fell a little short (IMO) because of how rushed it was.
  19. Thank you for the suggestions. I will be looking into these. Time is getting pretty short on this PC. It won't last much longer. One of these days it's going to crash and not come back. At any rate, the tower I have, I believe, is a asus tuff gaming gt501. Bought it about a year or so ago in anticipation of the situation I currently find myself in it is roughly the same size as my Coolermaster tower I have now. The PSU I have is a Thermaltake toughpower gf1 750 watt, not the 850 which I thought I had. If that's still not enough, I can get an 850 watt. That's not a very big big deal. EDIT: Okay, so here is what I have come up with so far. let me know what you think, and if this will work with my tower and if my PSU will be sufficient. https://www.newegg.com/asus-rog-strix-z790-f-gaming-wifi/p/N82E16813119599?Item=N82E16813119599 https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i9-14900k-core-i9-14th-gen/p/N82E16819118462?Item=N82E16819118462 https://www.newegg.com/corsair-500gb-mp600-pro-lpx/p/N82E16820236835?Item=N82E16820236835 https://www.newegg.com/corsair-2tb-mp600-pro-lpx/p/N82E16820236837?Item=N82E16820236837 https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-64gb/p/N82E16820374524?Item=N82E16820374524 https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nh-d15/p/N82E16835608045?Item=9SIA7ABJZT7030 https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-4080-super-gv-n408swf3v2-16gd/p/N82E16814932672?Item=9SIB9ZZK8Z4554 Total: $2683.74. In my cart waiting on me to buy them. If I need to make any changes, please, just say so. I will do what I can to correct it.
  20. Price isn't incredibly important to me...to a point. When I built my current pc, everything I put in it was pretty much top of the line at the time. Not looking to break the bank. (it's going to hurt it anyway) but not looking to go cheap either. Like I said, this is for the long haul, so quality is important. GPU included, I'm expecting to shell out at least $2000 for this, probably more. I am out of date on my Tech knowledge No, I do not trust a salesperson to give me tech advice, sorry. All they want to do is make a sale. Nobody here has any skin in that game (even if they are a salesperson in real life), so that cuts out that mess. Yes, I am in the States. What I have already: Tower and PSU (850 watt). What I can probably/hopefully re-use: Monitor, Sound Card, video card...temporarily till finances stabilize a bit. When I was on the old Bethsoft.com forums, there were alot of good people there that I trusted to help out on hardware issues. I trust those here to make some good suggestions too.
  21. Sorry folks, I didn't see a dedicated thread for this so here it goes. As the title says, I am in need of replacing my 13 year old pc. Originally intended on waiting till TES VI came out, but clearly that's still a ways off, and this computer is on it's last leg. This pc will primarily be built with that game in mind...As far as I am aware, we do not have any idea of system requirements for it yet, but it's probably a fair bet that if it'll play Starfield, then it'll likely play TES VI too. What I am thinking, is starting off with an Intel 14900K , but as my tech knowledge is 13 years out of date, I am open to suggestions for the CPU, Motherboard, and GPU. Keep in mind when making suggestions, that I intend to run this PC as long as I did the one I am replacing. This is for the long haul.
  22. Nothing like a little Molly After a hard day's work.
  23. The Mule, with Clint Eastwood. Almost didn't watch it because at the time it just didn't sound all that interesting. Glad I did, it is a pretty good film.
  24. The Walking Dead: The Ones who Live. Pretty decent show, but like many other viewers, I was left feeling like it was a little too rushed. Series would've made more sense with 2-3 more episodes.
  25. I do. Joined in 2009 and got the lifetime membership a little while after that. Almost lost it entirely recently due to inactivity. Guess I'll have to change that now.
