I'm excited for the Xbox One! Rubin gave an update on his opinion after the internet started getting angry about the whole 720p thing. With upscaling, the difference is slight (a little less crisp, but the average console gamer probably couldn't tell). I don't particularly like upscaling, but I understand why they chose to upscale instead of have the game in native. CoD is a multiplayer online first-person shooter. You absolutely have to have 60+ fps at all times to keep competitive and make things run smoothly. It is so fast-paced, and TVs have such a high amount of input lag, that you have to make every frame count. It is not to say that the game would lag on the XBOX's specs. It's that you might be getting 50fps instead of 60, and that's a no-go in fps land. This is why I exclusively play them on PC. The input lag from the television rules playing them on consoles out for me. Will also be buying a PS4, but I am infinitely more excited for the XB1 because it seems to have done a lot more than just upgrade the hardware. Twitch TV, for one thing. Finally.

You must be from the EU, cause its out in the US....the only complaints ive heard from it is "same old same old" but if you havent played since AC1, then you wouldnt know its the same stuff over and over haha....i personally have only played most of AC1 and all of 2. 2 was great, i have Brotherhood, but only put a few hours into it lol. ill probably finish that someday, but i dont see myself picking up a new AC after that. It's not out on PC in the US yet. November 19th, I think?

This is happening to me on various files. It only gives me Kent as an option. However, if I close the box and wait a minute or so, the servers usually stop syncing.

Skyrim nexus site (and only skyrim) very very slow
spookycandy replied to RegM's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I've been on Nexus for about four years now (previously I used another modding site that I can't even remember the name of anymore). My only complaint is the instability of the server performance. Slowness doesn't bother me if it's consistent, but when a site runs wicked fast but will randomly screech to a halt at least twice a week (sometimes lasting 12+ hours each time) it is quite grating. There always seem to have been server issues. Though my gaming servers were hefty, and I worked on a site that had 20k uniques a day, I haven't worked with servers of the same massive level that Nexus does. Stabilizing for this amount of traffic is difficult, something usually reserved for only the most professional of tech companies, news companies, etc. Finding someone who knows how to make this stuff scalable and stable, and isn't going to charge you ridiculous prices is just about impossible. -
I'm really looking forward to TES Online (Beta was awesome), Banished, Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Watch Dogs, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Crimson Dragon, Thief... The list goes on. Since I got Black Flag for free (bundled with new graphics card) I get to try the new AC game when it comes out. Haven't played since the original.

Premium Membership prices increasing from October
spookycandy replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
The ads on the site are incredibly invasive. Sometimes if I had multiple tabs open while looking something up on a different site the ads would start playing out of no where. I have adblock but I originally had an exception for Nexus so I could support it better. After those video ads started I just couldn't do it anymore. Just my two cents on the ad matter. I bought Premium membership a few days ago after reading about all the server changes going on. Now I'm kicking myself for not having bought it years ago, it's great. Been trying to talk other people I know into doing it as well. I have had one issue; I was promised more results per search page and no matter what I change in my settings I can't get more than the base number. Bummer. -
I think I know the mod you are looking for... http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19733//? Its called immersive armours, it adds ( i think) over 100 new armour sets that work for both males and females, and better yet they aren't tramp or stupidly exposed with the women variants! Also, as you can guess, these mods are meant to be very lore friendly and fit with skyrim's overarching theme I have this mod, but I wouldn't describe it as "take my breath away." It makes a lot of armor look a lot better, but when I go to find the custom armor sets, the beautiful ones with intricate deatil are usually slutty or have really dumb heels. Grace Darkling's ranger armor is one of the best I've seen so far. I just wish there was more.

Check out S.T.E.P, it will tell you everything you need to know, answer your questions about those mods and help you troubleshoot along the way. Seconded. Gopher is fabulous, I could listen to his voice all day and I've been modding my games for years. His guide is excellent.

Skyrim topic - Essential Npcs - Does this break your game?
spookycandy replied to armady's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
There are a fair number of NPCs in the game that lose their 'essential' status as you progress quests that they're involved with. Here is a partial list that's missing some names since I know for a fact that Farengar and Sybille can both be killed after their respective quests. So it seems that Beth did try to work around the problem of 'unkillable' NPCs to a certain extent. Yes, but this doesn't apply to all NPCs. It bugs out quite often, too. -
Skyrim topic - Essential Npcs - Does this break your game?
spookycandy replied to armady's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Essential NPCs are essential in many cases. The others in this thread are correct. While I long for the day when the world is so dynamic that you will get different quests every play-through because of how the NPCs interact with the world around them (maybe they die, maybe they move, etc), it is not that day yet. Skyrim wasn't built for that. IMO this isn't game breaking at all. It's game saving. This would be a good trade-off. -
I am actually looking for an answer to this as well. Evolved has a few quirks that have made me hesitant to download it (on top of this, a friend swears they encountered less bugs on the original). I'm not enough of a magic user to extensively test this myself.

I jumped in thinking this was going to be an interesting discussion on the politics of Skyrim. Instead I see people talking about how it's unrealistic that a woman would do some of the jobs they are doing in Skyrim. What you might not know about history is that women have a long history of not only cooking the meals and making the clothes but fighting in battle, working in fields, and yes, blacksmithing (though usually they did other crafts)1. They often did farm work, which is not easy work and, as many would argue "a man's job." In Skyrim I was happy to see some empowered women doing complex jobs. It did not feel overkill. As others mentioned in the thread, the women who are in that line of work are in it with their husbands (this was also extremely common back in the times). This page is old, but quite informative on what trades women participated in back in those days; among the books it references is Medieval Artisans which I had the privilege of reading when I was still in college (college libraries are awesome). It's a great book. Definitely do more research on it. If anything, it's refreshing to have a game from this era get things right! 1Source: Women and Gender in Medieval Europe: An Encyclopedia

I can recommend most any mods from S.T.E.P. It's excellent for beginners. Just know that you're not supposed to go through downloading everything, carefully deliberate what you do and don't want from it. This is my list of mods I won't even bother running Skyrim without*: SkyUI - Changes the interface so it actually makes sense for a mouse and keyboard.Better Dialogue Controls - Less accidental selection of the wrong dialogue option.Better MessageBox Controls - Finally, being able to use a keyboard with message boxes.Project Optimization - It helps everything run smoother.A Quality World Map With Roads - Because where we're going, we actually do need roads.Audio Overhaul or Sounds of Skyrim - I actually switch between these depending on the mood I'm in. Both are fabulous. Audio Overhaul doesn't harass me with a million dialogue boxes when I start a new save, so when I'm playing around with new characters I usually choose that one.Alternative Start - No more five minute long cutscene that I usually just spend making a snack. It allows you to choose your own back story (even the default game one).Climates of Tamriel - Well rounded weather overhaul. There are others, if you want to be a rebel.Besides those, there are the texture packs. Any of the top rated ones will do. aMidianBorn texture packs are some of the best (to be used with a major one like Skyrim 2K or Serious HD). Vivid Landscapes is another. In terms of miscellaneous mods, I'd recommend looking at the Skyrim Gems list and selecting what you personally prefer from there. My current favorite body texture is True Daughters of Skyrim. Check out the guy's other stuff, he (or she) has talent. My favorite immersion mod, believe it or not, is Fire Hurts. It's such a small thing... but now I have something stopping me from doing jumping jacks in the local tavern fire pit. Prince and the Pauper is another good one. One I have just started experimenting with is Simple Crosshair. It makes the crosshair far less distracting while still keeping it useful. I'm sure there are plenty more I could recommend, but GEMs and S.T.E.P. will be enough to overwhelm you already. *I actually won't run the game without a lot more mods than listed, but those are the ones that won't destroy your computer's performance.

I second this. Oblivion is my favorite, and I've played every Elder Scrolls game. With mods I can do a lot more with Skyrim, but I still launch Oblivion from time to time and play it.

My significant other is running RealVision full with 2k texture mods and grass mods on an i7 2600k and the same graphics card you have, and gets a minimum of ~45fps during battles, usually over 60. I would definitely recommend that. My personal favorite is Seasons (it makes the game look realistic without sacrificing the fantasy ambiance, plus the creator is a gem who keeps updating it to make improvements.)

I would totally download those. Someone make them, please!

I'd like more lore-friendly clothing and armor mods that fit the smaller bodies. Do you have any idea how many times I've seen a high quality, intricately detailed armor set only to click the full image and ask "Where are her pants?" I don't mind that some people prefer a different visual aesthetic, but I play Skyrim because I want to be a part of that era and get drawn in to that world. The amount of mods that allow me to do this are shockingly limiting. High heeled combat boots? No thanks, not for me. I have yet to find more than one or two solid, good lore-friendly armor/clothing mods. It is Skyrim, land of leather and fur. You can do so many things with those. Instead we've got spandex and bikini armor (and high heels). I just want a whole set of armor mods that take my breath away while being lore friendly.

Thanks for your answer. I already know what vram is, and the difference between the both of them (I knew it before starting to study computers). The memory I'm talking about skyrim is using is the RAM, not the VRAM. I can share an screenshot if you need to see it. Yesterday, Skyrim got to 1,7Gb of RAM usage. I can play smoothly enough when there's only 1Gb of RAM being used by the O.S., but if I try to play Skyrim when the memory usage is around 35%, It's just better to restart the PC and free that 10% of RAM before playing. I can garantee Skyrim consumes a lot of VRAM as well, there's no doubt about it. But I only wanted to know if there was some way to reduce the main memory usage that doesn't require to reduce the grafical quality. Btw, I don't use ENB mods at all, only texture mods. I know the ram usage is 100% related to the amount of texture mods I have, but it's just extrange that this only starts to be a problem when the memory usage gets too high as time passes... There's have to be a way to free that used ram. P.S.: the problem I'm talking about is similar to when you have a lot of programs running, consuming all of your ram (memory leak, as you said): applications start to respond slowly and you need to free that ram by closing programs or restarting. Maybe I just need more RAM... Thing that crossed my mind. In this day and age if a game is using less than 2GB of system RAM I am actually surprised. Knowing that, I would say there isn't really a way to reduce such a thing. 4GB is the minimum for some games and running programs/browsing the internet. On top of this, using 2GB out of 4GB shouldn't actually be causing any slowdowns. Things can safely use a much higher percentage of your system RAM before causing slow downs. As for memory leak, a memory leak isn't when you are running too many programs and running out of RAM. A memory leak comes from one program incorrectly allocating memory (hoarding it). Way back when, Firefox would easily consume 3.5-4GB of RAM if I left it open too long. It's a problem from one program, not many, and closing other programs isn't the answer. I would recommend more RAM (it's cheap these days!), but I do still think that VRAM is the issue for you. Someone can have only 4GB of system memory, but their graphics card will make up all the difference in VRAM. System memory isn't the main ingredient in making Skyrim perform well. You can have 16GB of it and your (modded) game will still lag if the graphics card isn't up to par. More memory will definitely help if you want to run many other programs while running Skyrim, but if your issue is that Skyrim does this with nothing else you know of running, more probably will only give you unnoticeable or negligable gains. If you do want to try upgrading, I really like 8GB as a balance. FYI I hope I didn't seem too preachy here. I worked as a repair technician for many years and tend to babble on about this sort of stuff.

It's not the normal RAM that Skyrim uses--it's VRAM (video random access memory). VRAM is located in your graphics card. To find out how much you have, you can either look up your card name (if you know what it is) or download a program like CPUID or GPUZ. Skyrim is a wormhole that eats VRAM day in and day out (particularly with mods), and requires a hefty 2GB minimum to run the "best" ENBs and graphic mods. Having more system memory helps, but if you've got less than 1GB of VRAM there's only so much your computer can do. Unfortunately, there is no way to really stop Skyrim from doing this. Optimization mods might help, but they will never come close to fully alleviating the problem. In layman's terms, some programs will have memory leaks that cause them to use more memory than they actually need the longer they are open (but in this case, Skyrim already needs quite a bit). In the meantime, I would recmomend closing everything except Skyrim while playing, and possibly playing it at a lower resolution in Windowed mode.

CTD when switching to female character during new game
spookycandy replied to bladewisp's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
That could be a contributing factor. I would also recommend disabling hair/eye mods one by one to see if any of those are causing the crash. After knowing which one, solving a load order problem is a lot easier (or alternatively, just removing the mod). -
Powerful rig but horrible performance
spookycandy replied to greenknight1490's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I am wondering if K ENB isn't optimized properly. I would go into the thread for that ENB and ask there. I am running a rig less powerful than yours (new parts arrive tomorrow actually!) and only have one GTX 580 in my system. My graphics card set-up is no where near as good as yours and I am getting 20-30fps outdoors with tons of 4k texture mods (your mod list is tiny compared to mine). You should be getting a lot more than you currently are. Unfortunately since the issue appears to be with K ENB I can't help you. Here is a link to the thread. It seems other people are having the same problems you are. -
CTD when switching to female character during new game
spookycandy replied to bladewisp's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I had this problem a couple of days ago. I think it was from loading all the custom hairs at once. Installing Precache Killer fixed the problem for me. -
Taking on the "Kill the Bandit Leader" quest in Riverwood results in a CTD. The second I hover over the menu item in SkyUI to read the bounty letter after receiving the quest, I CTD. I can't even open the note because simply highlighting (not clicking) the note causes the crash. This happens every single time. The only mod I have (at least as far as I know) that touches books/paper is Book Covers. It occurs on new save files and old ones. I have enabled and disabled many different mods in an attempt to figure out what is causing this. Is there a recommended way to troubleshoot this? Edit: Unchecked all mods except for unofficial patches in NMM and started a new save game. I had merged Book Covers and its patches awhile back. Using the unmerged version instead fixed the problem. I should note that prior to unmerging, I was able to open other notes perfectly fine and that it was exclusively the bandit letter that was broken from merging the mod. For anyone having this issue, don't merge patches!

Changing the "files per page" in my search preferences isn't working. Is this a bug?

Bird Armor? Phoenix armor? Yes please. Speaking of Armor, could we please have some close fitting (but NOT spandex-close) female armor that is based on the original meshes? My bosom is not for the viewing of nords!
