  1. Being able to make people that don't look like Jensine will definitely be a modding plus that I am looking forward to.
  2. Ditto. I don't even own any consoles anymore.
  3. This is just a guess, mind you, but it could work... Try deleting the FALLOUT and FalloutPrefs config. files from your "My Games" folder in your Documents folder, then start the game. It should force the game upon launching to create new versions of these documents from the default .ini file in the game installation directory. If I'm right, it will create fresh versions of these files as if you've just installed the game. If it's worked it will give you that message that it's going to automatically check your hardware and configure your graphics settings. It's at least worth a try.
  4. Two things can / will fix this: 1) This setting in the .ini: bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 2) Make the plug-in a master with something like TESsnip. We had to do these things in FO3 as well. You'd think they'd have fixed that in the new game, eh?
  5. If advertisements enable all this gaming greatness to remain right here at our fingertips then I'm all for it. Yet I also understand ginnyfizz's original concerns and don't mean to deprecate that. I've only been able to spare the cash to be a Premie once since I first started hanging around here and I would maintain such a membership were it possible. I don't think of the ads as a punishment for my financial state; I think of it more like the difference between watching a movie on cable as opposed to renting the DVD. When I can afford the DVD I prefer to go that route, but when cash is short I'll tolerate the commercials.
  6. I agree that the world design and lack of exploration for Fallout New Vegas was very disappointing, but I think our complaints about that deserve a separate thread since it's really a separate issue from whether or not games should have a main quest and how well it should be written.
  7. Delete the entire folder, run CC Cleaner on your registry, then reinstall.
  8. Well, I agree that nobody wants a game with a main quest that was written by talentless hacks. So, just to clarify, my opinion is that a main quest is a necessary part of this type of game and it should be well-written.
  9. I think more side-quests would be great, but I don't think the MQ itself can be totally eliminated. While it wasn't true so much with FO3, in New Vegas the MQ has enough alternatives and options that a second (or even third) play-through can still be entertaining as long as you make different choices and side with different factions than you did in your last play-through. I enjoy many hack-n-slash dungeon-crawling games from time to time, but they can ultimately become quite repetitive. One of the things that makes Bethesda's games what they are is all the options, not only in the quests but also in the creation of your own avatar. Take those things away and Bethesda games would drop to the same level as the rest of the hack-n-slash dungeon-crawler games.
  10. I hope it isn't a Nexus Forums faux pas to post this twice but there are two simultaneous threads going about this mod. It looks really good and I hope to be able to use it, so I hope this will be noticed.
  11. I spent about an hour installing this according to the step-by-step instructions in the pdf, now the game won't run beyond the massive stuttering of the Bethesda logo. After the epic fail of trying to run the game with Morrowind 2011 I had really hoped this would work. Here's the Warnings.txt: One of the files that "TLM - Ambient Light + Fog Update.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "TLM - Light Sources (Clearer Lighting).esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message but not necessarily fix any errors. One of the files that "Balmora Un-Mod.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. One of the files that "TLM - External Lights Ownership.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save. This may result in errors. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information. EDIT: I hope it isn't a Nexus Forums faux pas to post this twice but there are two simultaneous threads going about this mod. It looks really good and I hope to be able to use it, so I hope this will be noticed.
  12. Being a "Rubenesque" or "full-figured" gal myself, I must say that keeping things under control and covered up for many of us is as much due to practical necessity as to modesty. Sure it feels great sometimes to be free of the harness, but there are other times when it's really handy to have the thing on. As for men always being aroused if we were always topless, if our being topless was an accepted norm in our society then said arousals would be uncommon since seeing a woman's bare chest would be a commonplace thing. A large portion of physical arousal is psychological. And for the guys I have to say yes, please be decent enough to cover up when in the general public. What's good for the Gander is good for the Goose. Most public places have a "no-shirt, no-shoes, no service" policy for good reason. Especially in places like restaurants or the grocery anybody being half-naked just isn't sanitary. But if it were legal and practical for everyone to be topless all the time then I say that means EVERYONE, not just folks who have been to the gym or were just naturally blessed with high metabolisms and svelte figures. I do think Lehcar's dad should have handled that situation far more delicately. While I suspect his intention was to attempt to prepare his daughter for the perils of womanhood, doing so in an accusatory and hostile manner was totally uncalled for. I'd say that likely did more harm than good.
  13. So like, are you still around or what?
  14. Do you have mods installed? My problem is that once I get too many mods installed the game will no longer save. I haven't figured out how to fix that.
  15. I've only just recently acquired the BioWare Infinity Engine games and, though they're all installed I have not had a chance to get too far into any of them yet since I'm right in the middle of my first play-through of Neverwinter Nights, but I have every intention of playing them and just wanted to take this opportunity to chime in about how great I think the Gibberlings3 Widescreen Mod is. It works flawlessly with all five of the games and without it I probably would not be considering playing these on my newer PC as seriously as I'm considering playing them now. Perhaps someone has already said all this here but I just want to reiterate that if you have these games and want to play them widescreen this is definitely the way to go. Oh, and if any of you newer gamers are reading this, don't knock older games just because of their retro graphics!
  16. I'm pretty sure console modding is illegal and is not supported by this family of sites.
  17. What they said... ...and don't expect to be able to change your character's facial features. IMHO overall Morrowind is still just as enjoyable as Oblivion. I'm confident you'll like it even though you've played its sequel first.
  18. And that's fine if that's what one feels is most important, but where RPGs are concerned my definition of "attention to detail" focuses on well-written original quests, interesting and believable characters, plenty of options for what the players can do in developing their characters and expansive and entertaining areas to explore. If a game has these things I can live without such minute landscape details that are hardly noticed during actual gameplay anyway.
  19. Fatalmasterpiece: It's funny that you mention NWN because I just recently started playing that one for the first time and love it. I'm also a PnP D&D veteran and perhaps my vivid imagination makes me less demanding when it comes to the graphic environments created in video games. All I really require from a game in that regard is that it's three-dimensional, as one might guess from my signature. I still enjoy playing the original Doom, and it's low-res pseudo-3D. My leaf-scoffing is due mainly to the fact that after purchasing Oblivion I had to wait almost five years before I was able to afford a rig that was capable of running the game at a decent fps at a resolution above 800x600. Sure, it's not the fault of the game developers that I'm not wealthy, but I don't want to have to wait another five years before I'll be able to play Skyrim. For once in my life I'd like to be able to play a new game while it's still popular with all the other kids too. All my current favorite games the majority of the rest of the world has already moved past, and sometimes it's a bit disheartening and lonely.
  20. Sorry you feel that way but I really enjoyed Oblivion straight out of the box. The ability to mod the TES games and the thousands of mods available to make it how you want to play it spoke to me...and why I still have Oblivion installed years after being released...well, that and this fine community I've grown to be part of. LHammonds I'm in total agreement on the moddability aspect; it's why I hang around here. My point was merely that Morrowind was just as moddable and gave us an enjoyable gameplaying and modding experience (and still does for many) without requiring quad-threaded processors or stacks of RAM sticks because of graphics details that are somewhat superfluous where gameplay and moddability are concerned. I'm not trying to say that I hope Skyrim looks like crap; I'm just saying that I hope that the developers take into consideration that a large portion of their fan base may not own high-end rigs or be able to afford expensive upgrades and will give us a finished product that's a comfortable balance between graphics and gameplay.
  21. It's after a certain number of forum posts. Got mine so long ago though that I've forgotten exactly how many are required. Is it 500?
  22. Ooh! Look at how the leaves rustle in that tree! That's sure to make the gameplay so much more enjoyable... Sorry, I had to let that bit of sarcasm out. I'm just still keeping my fingers crossed that this time around Bethesda won't be so caught up in the current trend of game developers to base their products on flashy fps-killing eye-candy covering a mediocre game. Personally, I'd be satisfied with the graphics from Morrowind as long as they give me epic quests and expansive lands and dungeons to explore. I really don't need every detail of the surrounding landscape reflected in high-def ripples in the puddle at my feet to enjoy a game and firmly believe that rendering swaying blades of grass has nothing at all to do with the quality of the game itself. Pretty high-res landscapes do not equal a great game. But I also know all too well that it's a business intent upon turning a profit, so I think it's a safe bet that everything in Skyrim will be surrounded by that glowy HDR aura that's supposed to be so realistic despite the fact that to this day I've never seen anything in real life glow like that...
