  1. hate to break it to ya. but yes. people have said this on the larian forum. countless times. hell. go to the feedback threads right now or even from the early access days. this has been asked for since day one. its literally the second request on the forums for baldurs gates 3 lol. did you check the larian forums before asking your passive aggressive rhetorical question Here, let me correct your post: "People have asked for this on the official Larian forums already, even since early access. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they're budging so far on allowing it." Nothing I typed was "passive-aggressive," nor was it rhetorical. Chill out, I don't browse the Larian forums and mentioned that as a possibility. And to be polite when making such requests, because I've seen how people can get overly emotional talking about things like that and start slinging insults instead of trying to get results. Much like you just did :) Nice assumption, too bad it was wrong.
  2. Without spoiling anything, some companions/interests may be okay with multiple partners. Explore, live a little, experiment and find out~
  3. Have any of you voiced your opinion on Larian's official forums? And if you do so, please don't add needless conjecture such as, "How could you forget to add this?!" Polite, persuasive, persistent dialogue gets results. If nothing else, once the official modding tools are released it should open a lot of doors.
  4. Will try and spell this out as plain as I can without confusion.... I have mods A, B and C; mod A has a house in a position that clips into changes made from Mod B and some landscape added from mod C. My CK question is, should I create an empty esp, mark it as active in the CK when loading mods and have the other mods in question loaded? Would that then save any changes to the 'active mod' (which would be my empty mod)? And if so, will it automatically set masters as needed? Just want to make sure I know how this actually works before I go experimenting. Yes it's paranoia (yes I can reinstall mods if they get f'd but I'd rather have a definite answer from those with experience, and any possible caveats others have seen). Thanks in advance. EDIT: Or is it best to just edit Mod A directly for a change like this?
  5. http://winkingskeever.com/list-of-skyrim-modders-resources/ Google'd "Skyrim modder resources": 1st link: http://winkingskeever.com/list-of-skyrim-modders-resources/ 2nd link: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/273ncl/guide_comprehensive_list_of_modders_resources/ 3rd link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/categories/82/ 4th link: https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/files/category/79-modders-resources/ Otherwise you're better off learning to make your own. Plenty of tutorials out there on that as well.
  6. How to create an esp for what though? If you're making patches for say, armors, weapons, misc items, food items, etc. learn how to use xEdit. Maybe it's just me but back when I got into this I found pretty quick you can right-click any reference in the left column of xEdit and copy as overwrite, into a new mod, name it something relevant. Choose the option for an esp with esl flag if you're just doing overwrites. Make your changes in the new esp. Done.
  7. Eat, sleep; shuffle, repeat
  8. General searches haven't shown anything, but is there anything out there that does something to the effect of my post's title? Or is it even something feasible? After mulling over it, I think something like when crouched and going in for pick pocket, you get a prompt with two choices: 1) Pickpocket and 2) Place poison The second option would only appear if your perks allow you to do that (would require patching for some overhaul mods). Since you can give NPCs through a prompt a potion of health (with it only showing your healing potions, like Valdr), why not be able to give the same prompt but with all of your available poisons? Main reason for even thinking of this: Skyrim Souls (aside: they really should have named it Elder Souls and someone could carry that name right into the next ES game :p). Targets will move, and it makes picking pockets (esp hostiles that patrol, thief guild marks that aren't sleeping, etc.) far more difficult if that's the style of play you are going for. Just a thought, thanks for any feedback.
  9. Ignore the quest, job's done. Otherwise you'll have to cheese your way around it. I won't give my opinions on either, but both work very effectively. EDIT: just realized I replied to an old necro'd thread, rip
  10. Without a load order listed (use spoiler tags) no one can have any way of knowing what is causing your issue, because that's likely why. Also you didn't mention a specific weapon used, if you tried other weapons, etc.
  11. In response to post #24637584. #24638209, #24647644 are all replies on the same post. Hit edit on another post, my reply ended up here. Nexus, fix? Happened a few times already today... Will be posting a bug report tho, but figured I'd edit in this :\
  12. In response to post #24637444. #24637704, #24638489, #24647534 are all replies on the same post. Dark0ne, always supporting and get where you're coming from with the scale of a web site. loco, nothing's ever B&W, it's better to not generalize with statements like that and just take in what there is to offer and decide on it from there (as opposed to, "this is good", "this is bad", "this is grey-ish"). Not bashing, just something a lot fall into. Not only that, it seems pretty obvious *most* protesters are just whining about having to potentially pay for mods, should the creator decide to go that route. I don't think any of us can do anything more than react to this when changes are made, and make a wave if things do start to go sideways. The idea is good, the practice needs a bit of work though, eh?
  13. In response to post #24643354. #24643854, #24643949, #24644484, #24645019, #24645409, #24645524, #24646134 are all replies on the same post. Modders. Choose. To. Ask. For. Payment. "He's not wrong.. Its not about just complaining or being as simple as "not having to buy" hes talking the truth about how it's heading and what it means. He is simply saying the natural cause and effect of things that WILL 100% happen unless this is reversed." And what will happen, "...100% unless this is reversed,"? Steam Workshop and the Nexus are not the only places that host mods, just the most dominant. Not only that, modders ASK FOR WHAT THEY WANT. If you don't want to pay, don't pay, not having a particular mod doesn't give your life less meaning or take away from your gaming experience as it was intended (the old instant gratification issue, which so many seem to feel they are entitled to have). Hell, as I've said before, if you want something bad enough, go pick up some tutorials on Blender and NifSkope (both free pieces of software, by the way), learn how to use the Creation Kit, and make your own mod! Wow, what a concept! Maybe after you put 100+ hours into a project that you love and enjoy, you might consider releasing it to the Nexus or Steam Workshop, or maybe both, because you think it's fairly well polished. Then you get the messages about bugs, simple issues with textures because XYZ user didn't install it properly, or the download may have just been corrupt, or there was an unexpected conflict with an obscure mod, etc. Do you see where I'm going with this? We as users, regulate what happens. If we don't want XYZ mod in question (i.e. don't deem it worthy of our money), we don't download it. The modder then either A) does nothing or maybe pulls it down, B) reduces the price or C) increases the quality. How is this so hard to follow? Am I missing something here? Because as far as I can tell I don't think I am...
  14. In response to post #24645764. #24646449 is also a reply to the same post. If no one wants to pay for the mod, they don't have to. What are you even talking about Azradun? And the 24 hour policy is there as well. I swear I'm done after this post unless I open my browser again...
  15. In response to post #24645544. "HOWEVER, I don't think that means compensation is deserved. Not to say you shouldn't be able to donate to these creators and what not, but I just don't feel like I should be forced to pay for any type of mod." So they can't ask for money, for something they created, put their own hard work into? They absolutely must allow everyone to have it for free if they have shared it with the community? For something they've poured tens, hundreds or more hours into? Testing with other users, gathering feedback and data, troubleshooting, etc? All the while doing their day job and or whatever else they may have to contend with in regards to life? "The thing about mods is you can have up to 200+ running at a time, and most people here probably play with somewhere between 25-100. Imagine even paying $.99 for 100 mods? And most mods I'm seeing on the workshop are charging more than $.99. Why would I ever do that?" They're not making it a requirement to charge money for mods! Too many people are used to the idea of just having mods for free. This introduces a way that content creators can actually make a little money for what they are doing (hell maybe consider downloading Blender and NifSkope and the Creation Kit, learning how they work and making your own mods? WOW WHAT A CONCEPT). Why is this a bad thing? I'm not saying it again after this: IMO Valve needs to reconsider how much they are taking as a cut from mod makers, but the mod makers do deserve some compensation IF THEY DEEM IT NECESSARY. We can pay for it if we like it (there is a 24 hour policy, probably should be 48 but again, something that needs dealt with on Valve's end, and something WE as a community can respond to). Stop crying about this, give input as it evolves, and stop acting like this only benefits Valve and Nexus!
  16. In response to post #24644689. #24645379, #24645579 are all replies on the same post. That's a very general statement speash, one with no relevant arguments. Again, another person shooting from the hip... It's what people do best on the Internet. People need to gather some constructive thoughts and criticisms about this situation, which some have been. Trolling and random one-two lines statements that have a mild similarity with what's being discussed in the OP are not helpful.
  17. In response to post #24644689. I'm sorry if something I mentioned came off as offensive, but what words did I put in your mouth? And how was I being aggressive? Don't post things without making references. This is very, very simple as far as I can see (for now at least). Valve is giving modders the opportunity to ask money for their content, their work, their time AFTER their own work or schooling is done and they have time to work on the crazy stuff that we download and use with only giving them a simple thanks. Users decide whether or not they pay for said content. The field will level itself from there. If no one wants to pay for it, they won't pay for it. Creators have the option of not posting content on Steam Workshop OR the Nexus and make it available elsewhere. This is not the end of the world, but something that needs watched as it is a VERY new thing, and is change, which the vast majority of people are scared to death of for some reason. Be mindful, watch as things evolve, and inform the community appropriately. End of story. There's nothing aggressive about that. It's mindful, and supportive. Appreciate what you have, and help these content creators to expand their horizons and build even more quality content. Some are acting as if this is solely for the benfit of Valve and the Nexus. Yes the price model is questionable (I mentioned that in another post, sorry), but change takes time. Give it some thought and consideration.
  18. In response to post #24644499. "Remember that, although Valve's pay strategy is patently unfair, it is the mod author's choice to have their work in the curated Workshop in the first place" Just re-quoting this, as everyone seems to be forgetting that bit... We all choose to pay or not pay for something. People are acting like spoiled brats here, or thinking they are some champions of freedom by declaring nothing have a price tag attached to it... This will play out one way or another, we just need to be mindful of all sides of the issue before spouting that one of the sides is XYZ. Just my few cents.
  19. In response to post #24643924. To quote you: "The only way to fight this is to not partake in it on any level" So you're saying people should not be paid for the work they've put into a project for a game? They absolutely must release it for free, no questions asked? Would you also ask that a repairman fix anything and everything in your house for free (assuming you don't like in an apartment that typically provides repairs at their expense)? Or that your vehicle should have all repairs provided for free, with no warranty, registration or insurance requirements? Or what if your PC/laptop/tablet/smartphone has an issue, if it's out of warranty should it also be repaired for free? "This all reminds me of corruption..." Ooooh you're one of those, "Money is the root of all evil," people aren't you? Did you even read the article above? Some quotes for your viewing pleasure: "Most importantly, I ensured that it was the mod author's complete and utter choice as to whether they wanted the Nexus to receive a cut of Valve's cut in all of this." "So what we have here is Valve coming to me, in a positive and open exchange, with no strings attached, offering to share some of their split of the profit they receive from specific mod authors who have specifically stated when they upload their mods that they would like the Nexus to receive some of Valve's cut of the profit. Wrap your head around it. Mod authors using the paid workshop system say "I like the Nexus, I feel like the Nexus has helped me or the community at some point, I would like to support the Nexus, I'm going to donate some of Valve's cut to the Nexus". So the Nexus gets a trickle of funds, for free, for no extra work and for no promises of allegiance or support of Steam Workshop." "I will champion and fight for modding being allowed to remain free and open on any platforms that want to remain free and open, like the Nexus, like ModDB, and all the individual modding communities out there for games. I will fight against the DRMification of modding. I will fight, as I always, always have, for an author's right to choose how and where a mod author distributes their work. And I will most definitely fight against anyone who chooses to persecute, attack or seek "revenge" against mod authors who have chosen to sell their mods. Because that is wrong. It's f*#@ing wrong. And I do not swear in these posts lightly." People posting their mods, decide what to ask for them in terms of money. Not the Nexus, not Valve. Read. Stop posting your shot-from-the-hip s#*!.
  20. In response to post #24643354. #24643854 is also a reply to the same post. Qrygg is right, no one is forcing you to download and install content that is not included with the game itself. But the cut Valve is asking, is a bit absurd... 75% for something they never even touched as far as the game goes? That seems a bit shady IMO...
  21. Go check the tubes for TotalBiscuits discussion on this issue (Valve announces paid modding for Skyrim), particularly 16:35-18:20. Yes, Valve could generate a large amount of money out of what they are charging to modders (75% percent, wtf Valve). Yes, we might have to pay for some items out of the Steam Workshop. But TB makes an exceptionally good point in that snip above: why are people complaining about paying for the WORK of someone else? If someone is willing to put hours, months or YEARS (does anyone recall <b>A Quest for Heaven</b> for Fallout 3) into a mod that has fantastic quality and expands the experience of a game and, as a lot of people have mentioned, "...this mod is like a full DLC release," why should they not be paid IF THEY WANT TO APPROACH THAT SORT OF SYSTEM? Artists, in music, film, animation and other industries work via Patreon or some other system, why should modding not end up adopting a similar following? This doesn't mean that all modders will or have to make money from their projects. But they are NOT obligated in ANY way to provide their content for free. If they do, good on them and be thankful for their contribution to XYZ game. Get rid of your old ideas about having everything for free. People have made (roughly) similar arguments about music, movies, etc. all for the sake of having them for free (through many different outlets). Because they can't afford X dollars or whatever currency to pay for it. So if you can't afford something, that has ZERO IMPACT ON YOUR ABILITY TO LIVE, you deserve to just have it for free? Think about it... These guys deserve a due for what they've made. Let's face it, a pat on the back and a few, "that a boy," comments don't pay the rent, or anything. It's a rough area to navigate, as TB's video mentioned. But this needs some serious thought and consideration from all, mod makes and users alike. Discuss the change, don't stick to old-fashioned ideas just because it's convenient for you, open your minds and let's all help to shape this change to benefit everyone involved.
  22. In response to post #24642279. #24642719 is also a reply to the same post. Do elaborate.
  23. Still working to troubleshoot this, but I'm really not sure what mod could be causing it... When running up the hill behind Kynesgrove with Delphine to battle Sahloknir, the scene changes to become darker, and I get a radial blur around the edge of the screen. After the fight, the sky clears up but the blur remains. Tried zoning, fast travelling, waiting 48 hours, none of it worked. Reloaded a save before the encounter and had the same effect happen at the same point. Since my last run of this battle (on a previous character) I'd only updated Frostfall (updated 2.0 to 2.2b) and SkyRe (updated one revision from 99.23.2 to 99.23.3). Both updates were done from a brand new game, no previous saves. So far I've uninstalled Frostfall (using the proper uninstall procedure) and tried disabling RLO's weather but no joy :( Next step when I get time will be to uninstall Frostfall before even departing for Kynesgrove, other than that any idea what I could hunt for? Possible in-game solution? Thanks much in advance, I'll post a full load order if needed and will update the post if I end up solving the issue. EDIT: Disregard... apparently my bound key for telling my horse to "wait/follow" was also giving me night-vision outside of werewolf form (I forgot to account for not being a werewolf last game...). I'm using Gopher's predator vision with B and N bound, but it may be another mod doing it with V. Sorry for the confusion!
  24. Disclaimer: the first paragraph is the big problem I'm having, the second is another issue that seemed to coincide with it, that's why it's there. Not sure if the second issue or the first could be mod related, but figured I'd start here and see if anyone has seen anything like it. I'll have ask to have it moved if needed. The first problem I had was Adrianne Avenicci and Idolaf Battle-Born stuck where they normally start their first conversation when you enter Whiterun (about the Imperials needing more weapons, etc). This happened after that conversation already went on, and did it after many many trips to Whiterun and hours of gameplay. I figured it was a fluke and just an annoyance since Adrianne still sold/bought goods as normal. Then after a lot of misc questing and main story events, I went back into my Dark Brotherhood storyline (I was at the point of talking to Astrid about starting the first events of their "big" contract, omitting details for spoiler purposes, I can elaborate if needed). I received the quest and went further in to buy some materials and found the rest standing in a circle around Babette like they did when I entered for the first time. None of them would move, and speaking to each of them once started the same conversations that happened when I first entered the sanctuary, but after that they gave the relevant dialogue options for the quest and I could buy stuff from Babette but they would not move even after waiting in game for 5 days. After finishing that quest and the one following for Gabrielle, Astrid would not speak to me about the "event" that happened while I was gone and everyone was still standing where they were, just like I had gone in for the first time. So to finish, the "stuck" issue with Adrianne happened well before the DB issue as I'd gone back there several times to buy things and everyone was milling around like usual. Also none of the above characters would actually run their dialogue like they should after they got "stuck" (i.e. Adrianne and Idolaf should be talking about the weapons but they stand there staring at each other, and the DB members stand around not talking at all either). Maybe some console command to get those initial dialogues to kick in would fix it? And somewhere between the two events above I tried to dismiss Lydia since I was going to leave her in Whiterun and go about my Dark Brotherhood storyline (already owned Breezehome and had its furnishings). I have UFO installed since I'd planned to maybe use 2 followers but didn't, although I still liked the "relax" and "train" options for it. Long story short, she would keep following after telling her we're parting ways and ShowFollowerCount still held a value of 1. I made a test save, unloaded UFO (not installed), went in, dismissed her and she went back to Dragonsreach, saved again and reloaded UFO, came back and I could hire/dismiss her at will. But she would always return to Dragonsreach, so I tried talking to Proventus and he wanted me to buy Breezehome again! All my stuff was stored there and I could go in/out as I pleased so I made another save, bought it from him and he said I had all furnishings when questioned. Lydia also went back there then, and this hasn't been an issue since. So I'm guessing this is an issue with me "losing" Breezehome ultimately? Again this hasn't been an issue since I fixed it. So after all this I'm stuck and can't continue my DB storyline. I've gone to every place I can think of that would have NPCs that had a specific starting area and maybe conversations with other NPCs and none of them were stuck like the two instances I mentioned above (except the DB is everyone in there, Whiterun it was just those 2 NPCs). Another note, I ran the full DB quest with the mods I have now on a previous playthrough (custom race that was getting on my nerves a bit and decided to start with a vanilla race) and went all the way through to the end where I started the repeating missions for the DB and no problems. If someone needs I'll post a load order, but most of my stuff is clothing related with some other bits but none that touch NPCs and the only follower overhaul is UFO. I have a save I can go back to where none of these issues are happening (with the same mods loaded and the same load order) but that means a metric sh** ton of game time, loot, etc. lost. At that rate I'd want to say screw it and start a new game. Let me know if anyone's run into a similar issue, I haven't been able to find anything yet and if I have to I'll start anew. EDIT: I've decided to start a new game, I'll check back to see if there are any posts and respond if I come across anything in the meantime. Starting to think it's not mod related but possibly a Steam cloud sync issue.
