  1. Hi everyone -- I decided to start from scratch. I cleared out my Data folder, reinstalled skyrim, and decided I wanted to try SkyRe. I followed the seemingly 9,000 step process to install SkyRe and it's 58 dependent mods. Hopefully I didn't forget step 378, which is spinning around in a circle 6 times countercockwise. Anyway, snark aside, I *think* I did it right, with the help of Gopher's video and the SkyRe description for the non-dawnguard version. However, I get a nice CTD right after I launch the game. Now, almost all the mods I've running besides SkyRe (and crew) I've had before all at once with no issues. I guess my question is, does anyone see anything obvious? Is there a relatively simple way to tell if I have in fact bollocksed up my SkyRe install?   2. I'm happy to report that I think I have it figured -- it seems to have been Bluecreek Estate. I tried going through and systematically disabling mods, and testing. When that mod is gone, I don't get the CTD. So, tentatively, extra knock on wood, I think I'm good now.

I got rid of some of the player abodes -- a lot of those always seem kind of dodgy. Trimmed the fat in other ways as well; I had 3 mods that did things to grass. Now I have one, near as I can tell. I only have 1 WIC mod active, and 1 faster arrows. But no matter what, I keep getting that CTD outside of the helgen cave area. Very annoying. Any other comments or suggestions, folks?
  4. Hi, thanks for the comments -- you know, I didn't even know I had run your your lives on there. I don't remember putting that one in! If I can't remember installing it, it probably isn't too important. So yeah, point taken. I need to look through the list and just weed out some things I could live without. I shouldn't have 5 different versions of Faster Arrow... I'll need to look at that. It should just be the one. Also didn't notice that one, so thanks. As far as clean saves and scripts are concerned, yeah. I've been testing removing scripty stuff by using a clean save, starting a new game and a new save entirely in most cases, so I'm on top of that at least. So I'll weed through that list and hopefully stuff will start working. Have a good one.
  5. Well, I tried to fight this conclusion for a while, but I decided I ought to try to remove Live another Life and see if that made a difference. At first, everything seemed to be working great, and I was sad, because that's a great mod. However, with a clean save from the beginning, no alternate life at all, it still crashed at the same spot outside the Helgen cave. That makes me feel good about Live another Life, but perplexed as to what is causing the CTD. Thoughts, anyone?

Morning gentles, I've gotten some good advice before on these boards with various problems I've had in the past, so hopefully that trend will continue! :) Here's the situation: Recently started clean, deleted all local files, etc., all that jazz. After I exit the cave near Helgen with the imperial dude in tow (sorry Stormcloaks, this time ...) I'll run down the path towards riverwood. As soon as I move about 30 yards down the hill I get a CTD. However, if I move in a different direction, like back up the hill towards Helgen, it seems to not crash. So it seems like there is some sort of invisible barrier that is causing the crash when I cross it. That's speculation though, of course. Here's what I've done: I've used BOSS to arrange my mods, and cleaned all dirty edits in all of them with TESVedits. I set up a papyrus log, and the first time I rolled a character, this situation occured. My papyrus log stated that my Skyrim Economics mod was last running before the CTD, so I assumed that was the culprit and removed it. It still happened, though. So I figured I had a jacked up save and just started a new character. But the CTD at that same place still occured, with the economics mod completely removed AND a clean save, so I know it's not that. Also, interestingly, when I'm in game even if I dink around for a minute before triggering the CTD, I have no new papyrus log generated. So I guess that means no scripts were running during that time? Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts or comments I'd greatly appreciate them! Thanks in advance.
  7. Well, after updating all my mods, re-using BOSS, utilizing Tes5Edit, and walking in a circle around my computer 3 times counter-clockwise I seem to be down to only the occasional crash. Again, not uncommon for Skyrim. It's at a level I can pretty much live with, and all the mods I care about I still have. I do have one minor issue that is annoying. I'm not sure if I just hadn't noticed it before or if it is new -- a dialogue related thing. Sometimes, audio dialogue will clip slightly, and the lip sync will be a little off. Probably unrelated but still dialogue related is anytime I encounter an unvoiced NPC (due to Interesting NPCs, no doubt) the dialogue often skips through very quickly, as if I'm holding down enter or something, but even faster. Not sure if anyone has any thoughts on those, aside from maybe picking up the voiced npc only version of Interesting NPCs. Aside from that, I'm about ready to close this particular case.   8. Thanks for the reply. BOSS is cool with my loadout, no unresolved incompatibilities detected. No, I have not used tes5edit, I will give that a whirl. I'm not sure what you mean regarding the third item, though I will say that I tried to put some thought into which of my mods alter vanilla textures so as to avoid compatability issues (not saying I did that perfectly though.)
  9. Lol. Okay, I finally managed to pull my self away from Riders of Rohan long enough to play a bit more Skyrim. I got it to crash again, sort of. It recovered after I alt tabbed enough, but I took a look at my log and it is chock full of craziness. Those repeating errors go on for a long time, stop, some more semi-sensical ones and then a huge block of the same again. I don't recognize any of that stuff, though I do see a bit about some follower stuff and my sabertooth mod. I can certainly disable that one at least.
  10. Well, I started a new game a couple of times, only for it to crash after I finished making my character. So I decided to turn on that papyrus log thing. Now that the log is on, naturally, I can't get the damn thing to crash. Everything runs fine, and it just won't die on me. So apparently I must have put in the Magic Talisman = 1 line in my .ini file along with the other papyrus log lines of code. As I continue to play, I'll keep an eye on it. I'm sure it's normal crashtastic behaviour will start again soon.
  11. Hey guys (and/or gals), and thanks for the ideas. My combat thing seems to be okay ... I just ran all the way to winterhold and a few saves/loads later I was good. That particular issue has not reoccurred since. However, the intermittent crashes have. Disabling Alternate Start would suck big time because that's a sweet mod. I hear what you are saying ... I'll try that as a last resort. I did actually get rid of Reneer's Crime mod, because I noticed I already have a couple of mods that potentially do similar things with stealth mechanics and so forth. That may have been part of the issue; crashes are still frequent but perhaps not quite as bad. It's playable to near-playable. I did not know about the papyrus log thing ... I will try to set that up and give that a whirl and see what that shows as a next step. I'll let you all know the resolution of that. Thanks again.
  12. Interesting... I now appear to be stuck in combat. I can't mine ore, I can't engage a cart driver, etc. Reloads don't seem to fix it.

Hi folks, I have numerous mods installed, and before I start going through them one at a time, I wanted to post my list and see if any of the more experienced folks see any conflicts or potential issues. So, the game as it currently stands mostly works. I can run it, load a game, start a game, everything seems to be functioning pretty much correctly, except I get intermittent occasional hang-ups. They don't seem to be triggered by a specific event; the happen at seemingly random intervals, but when they occur the screen freezes, whatever audio is playing loops, and it's a hard lock-up: I have to kill the process and re-launch the game to fix. It would honestly be ignorable (the sun rises each day, skyrim crashes occasionally) if they weren't so frequent. Here is my current active mod list. I used BOSS to sort them, but otherwise haven't tweaked them. I know RCRN says it needs to be loaded last -- I've done it that way and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I use Nexus Mod Manager and launch the game through the SKSE executable.   14. Good Evening all, Thanks in advance. Every time I have a problem, some one usually has something helpful to say. I'm running an assortment of mods, and had a seemingly stable build going where everything was rolling along okay. I decided to grab a couple of additional mods along with the 2k texture pack mods. Then I started having issues. I removed the HD texture DLC, installed 2k and when I start the game, the some of the textures for the cart are missing, as well as a bunch of helgen wall textures. After I validated my game cache files and re-got the HD DLC, I enabled that and the 2k. Still same missing textures. So I disabled the 2k texture pack, figuring I'd just leave on the HD DLC, better than nothing, etc. Unfortunately, those same textures are still missing. No matter what I try I can't seem to get those cart textures and goodness knows whatever else to show up. Any thoughts/suggestions? I've been playing with a couple of ENB clients ... I tried running the game without any ENB, same thing. I tried disabling another mod I just got, SkyUI, and nothing. But those don't do anything with textures anyway to my knowledge.
  15. Damn. Welp, I guess it's back to the drawing board then. At least I have a saved game I can use to test now. I'm sure if I removed all my mods, the problem would be solved (most likely), but obviously that would kind of defeat the purpose. Hopefully I'll get lucky and remove the mod that's causing the trouble before I've taken away too many.
  16. Gentlemen (and Ladies): I recently performed a clean install of Skyrim. (i.e., all folders and files removed, including all old saved games, ini files, and mods.) I selected a fairly lengthy list of mods I wanted, downloaded them, and began the process of making Skyrim work. After spending hours removing mods, replacing mods, tweaking ini files, etc, I got a configuration that would stably launch Skyrim, load all the textures properly, etc. Everything appeared to be working appropriately. Then I ran into a strange (script?) issue early in the game. In Helgen, I followed Ralof into the keep, and we have to escape, etc. Well, we jumped the imperials and took their key, opened the door, and Ralof walks into the hallway and says "Great, this way!" or some such. He then stays there, and never proceeds down the hall. I can't seem to trigger him to get his ass in gear. I do have mods that I feel like could/do alter npc behaviour, but I removed the most likely culprit (a follower mod) with no results. I have a mod that overlays roads onto the map and does a few other things, but I've had it for a while and it's been stable. Any other bad config settings you could suggest for me to look at that maybe the mods I installed and removed left behind?
  19. Gentlemen (and/or ladies): I recently downloaded a few additional mods from Steam. After installation, I started up skyrim and when I attempt to load a saved game, I get taken to a loading screen, and right where the game "bites" so to speak where it would normally pop me in it remains stuck in the loading screen. I removed each of the new mods one at a time, trying to see which one was causing my problem, but got the same result every time. In the end, I removed all of the new mods I had downloaded since my last stable configuration. The problem is, I still have the same issue I can't load a saved game, even though I have the exact same mod configuration that worked before. I tried updating my mods, playing with load order ,etc., but nothing. I even rebooted and verified cache, all that good stuff. I really don't want to kill ALL of my mods and try to load each one one at a time, because there are a lot, and again, the mods I have now worked previously. Any ideas, before I try that?
