Security updates: reCaptcha and Two-factor Authentication
Rodjama replied to SirSalami's topic in Site Updates
I had major issues with the captcha mechanism on my gaming machine. When enabling the audio, it doesn't match what's on the screen... After several attempts with & without the audio clues, I gave up. This was yesterday, but today no issues of course logging in & did not have to fill out that silly captcha rubbish Very odd!. -

Looking forward to the stable release! But for now, I value reliable gameplay with my fav games above anything else, so its persevere with NMM for now.

Where on earth are nexus mods for FO4 within the new layout website? There is no tab for games! Is this some kind of dumb joke? :(

Which faction is the best for humanity?
Rodjama replied to JackTrenton's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
With only 4 factions to pick from in vanilla, hardly worth considering at all. But MM probably has the best chance because of their altruistic motives. -
I understand exactly what your saying and FO4 is available in my part of the world on 1 retail DVD disc but the catch is it's only part of the game.. rest has to be downloaded. That is fine IF one has reliable and affordable internet connection, something Bethesda "assumes" PC players have... I use to be very annoyed about this but as an individual, I have no control over it. The move away from optical media like physical disks is just a technology trend in the computer world. Portable USB flash drives have seen the death of optical media like DVD etc. As far as long term storage is concerned though, optical media is still more reliable than data on potentially volatile Nand flash when it comes to archival storage potential "Sharing" games with friends is frowned upon by businesses trying to make money on each and every product they make, and why should your friends get "freebies" of product when the business has put a lot of time and money into bringing the product to market in the first place? They are not running a charity, they're running a business to make money and ultimately end up keeping people employed. The video game business is like any other business, making money is the name of the game (pardon the pun).

Heck, I use to get skyrim crashing when it felt like it, often in higher levels and this is with only 1 -2 mods and also in pure vanilla. Yes, all patched up and game files verified by steam. It's the game engine, that's why Bethesda sometimes gets called Bugthesda. Go figure... All this on a system that can run other games just fine...

Ok, so going by that discussion you linked too, the .44 pistol will actually be alright in this game and of course even better with crafting it up. I use to flog those off or give them to a settler whenever I found them... but I'll think again when I find such loot. Don't know what it is about that weapon, but it always has a certain "feel" to it when fired that other hand guns just can't match...

PC I have on-board realtek 7.1 sound, and USB Logitech 7.1 G35 Headphones I switch between the two depending on what I'm doing, if I'm watching YouTube videos, I'll set the RealTek onboard sound as the default device, if I'm gaming I'll set the Headphones as the default device. This is the only game where I've had this problem. It seems if text is being displayed next to the cursor, (IE contents of a body, container, safe, etc) at the same time something is looted my game will freeze. Ok, I was only asking because I had Creative's X-Fi Titanium card for years that gave me good service until I found it causing too many CTD's and lockups in this game. After removing it and of course the drivers for it too, and reverting to my motherboards realtek sound chip, the CTD's and lockups have been reduced significantly so far. Its inferior sound quality imo but it makes for smoother gameplay experience so I shouldn't complain. All this after Creative released win10 drivers for this card too. However, steam released another update patch for FO4 yesterday, so I"m yet to see how much more stable and CTD free this game is...

A pacifist character build in FO4? hmmm, could be challenging to say the least, but depends what difficulty level you plan on launching him with and continuing throughout the game with. Personally, I just stick to the one difficulty setting from start to finish, no matter how hard is it is. If I'm doing anything that nearly always gets my character killed, then I'll rethink my strategy first. I neglected to mention in my first post, that I have only deposited 3 luck and 3 Charisma into the character's build and haven't put any more points in them since, the rest of the points were spread out pretty much even among the other S.P.E.C.I.A.L classes when starting out. I've gotta say, roaming around the FO4 world with low luck makes scavenging more adventurous... lol... or else your character misses out on stuff

It's the engine, I've seen forums whereby discussion often leads to flame feasts about how buggy the engine is in the first place. Its a bit like building a skyscraper, if you don't get the foundations right, how the heck do you expect the extras on top to be stable??

This is why I opt out of beta releases...

Thanks for the comments above, some interesting points indeed. One thing I've come to learn in Bethseda RP/Action games , is that your character does not have to beat or destroy every enemy that gets in the way. Good old fashioned "running away to fight another day" is and can be fun, not too mention that if the character hasn't found every location on the map, often running away in a random direction in order to escape quickly aka "Panic" until your AP is drained can make the character discover new places. In building up this current character, perks to aid AP regeneration come in mighty handy... lol.. :) Sometimes unexpected things can happen and bring new twists in discovering the FO4 world. This is one of the reasons why these games have so much replay ability, even with minimal or no mods. Its all in the creativity of adventuring.

How many players here actually try and RP their characters properly within the mechanics of FO4? What I'm getting at here is do you place limitations or parameters on your characters build when starting out and consciously avoid specific perks when leveling up so as to create challenging game play? I'm doing this now with my current character's play through, that is I avoid picking perks that change damage dealt and received for example. The only exception to this is if your character interacts with a skill magazine. Something which is kinda hard to avoid until you pick it up. Also, my character is not taking on followers at all unless specified in a quest for its completion and character avoids using power armor. I have a power armor suit ready to go but so far, that is to lvl 28, have had no need to use it yet. All this is done on 'Hard' difficulty, so far, but I've been thinking though, maybe I should have done this on default difficulty instead because it can get frustrating when your shooting with a crafted up combat shot gun at raiders in the head with no head amour and they take quite a few shots to get down, this is practically at point blank range too... hmmm... lol,,, One way to increase offensive power is with specific perks in crafting or in the case of melee attack, adding points to strength, but obviously crafting will scale with any type of gun according to what level your characters on. It will make you think more about strategy and resource management to say the least.. but nonetheless having a great time with this concept.. :nuke: In a broader sense this is what I use to do in Skyrim a lot, challenge myself by creating characters that play in unorthodox ways.. Who else tries to do stuff like this?

OP, I'm not up to speed with what mod is on what platforms but is this on PC or console? If your on PC, are you using dedicated sound card?
-
In both vanilla games, FNV offers proper ironsights with guns, FO3 has non immersive ironsights, in other words, can't aim properly without cursor help with guns unless it's scoped. If your into shooter blended with RPG elements, FNV is the go.

Thanks JimmyRJump, At least I'm not in the minority with this ongoing problem, my PC's motherboard is already operating at max throughput speeds with SSD's connected so their is nothing technically more I can do to help from the user's end. Has this current character your playing done much settlement crafting? How many, if at all of the DLC's do you have installed? I"m only asking because when you think about it, settlement crafting could involve very long lists of stuff the game's engine has to factor in before loading properly.. Honestly, Bethesda should have thought of better systems for memory usage knowing full well that players could build, and do just about anything for as long as possible in the FO4 world. The game's engine should be better optimised for the vast range of activities a character can get up too.

Whatever you voters in the US decide to do come election time, I hope its not what happened in our Australian Federal election on Saturday. So far, we have the strong possibility of a hung parliament or minority government similar to what happened here back in 2010. Never before has the Australian electorate seen results (to date) such as what happened 2nd July 2016.... http://www.abc.net.au/news/federal-election-2016/ Neither the centre left (ALP) or centre right (LNP) can form majority government... also witness the rise of Independents and fringe groups.

FO4, this after playing Skyrim (vanilla & modded) for nearly 2 years.. nothing else out there interests me in PC video game world.

Yep, I ain't voting because of this reason.

I have this game updated with latest official steam updates and this in this current play through, only have 1 mod - UFO4 patch v1.02, that's it, nothing else whatsoever just plain vanilla game. Game files have been verified via steam already. The same pattern of long load times is really bugging me and gets worse the higher in levels my character goes... Does anyone know why this is so? and what can be done to reduce or eliminate this. Currently on level 28, save files approx 10Mb. Sometimes I get just blank screen with the FO4 activity icon in the lower left hand side of the screen moving and that's all.. occasionally I'll see my HDD lights flicker and the music may come on, but the waiting now is going into virtually minutes upon leaving interior maps and exiting to exterior locations... I don't know of any other game that does this...
-
Thanks, yeah the problem gets worse the further your character levels up in the game. I'm like you in the sense that the SSD's show little or no activity for a while then start to get more active and the new map comes on screen.. It's definitely immersion breaking..and waste of time.
