  1. Well, the newest version of OOO is the version you want FCOM, I think. And someone has made compatibility patches for the newest version of MMM. I actually screwed up my game most recently when my computer crashed while I was trying to install them. I'm not sure where they are, but I think they're on TESNexus. I'll look for the link, but if someone else could provide it, that's probably work just as well. And while, yes, FCOM is a bit dated, it still works with most things, and it's such a popular mod that people usually will try to make their mods compatible.
  2. FCOM isn't another overhaul like Fran's, MMM, or OOO. It's basically a series of compatibility patches that allow those three mods along with Oblivion WarCry (and some others) to work together and not kill each other. I am running FCOM, and to be quite honest, I'm not entirely sure of all the changes it makes. While it does take a long time to install, BOSS makes it a lot easier, and it does add a LOT to Oblivion. http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/convergence.html There's the FCOM website. Under the "FCOM requirements and installation" section is a first time user install guide. If you have some experience installing mods, it shouldn't be too hard, though you will need to learn how to work Wrye Bash (but that's a skill every Oblivion modder should have). It does take a while to get working, but the payoff is worth it, in my opinion.   3. If you use Wrye Bash, you can do a similar thing with that. Go to the saves tab, right click on a save that worked, and click "Load Masters" It also shows the load order for that save in a column on the right. Also, I believe you were seeking fewer crashes.   4. I'm having (more or less) the same problem, except that I did install Python first. Wrye Bash will start fine for the first few times, then, after some amount of times, it won't start. Period. I am running Windows 7 64 bit, I do have UAC disabled, but Oblivion is installed to Program Files (x86). I don't think that's the problem though, as I didn't have any problems until I upgraded from 275 to 290. Yes, I did install the full version of 289, then upgrade to 290. I've figured out that I can fix this problem by just deleting the "Mopy" folder, and re-extracting the 289 and 290 archives, but that's a rather poor fix. Also, sometimes if I go to delete the Mopy folder after closing Wrye Bash (if it won't start again), it says it's open in another program. I checked in the Task Manager, and pythonw.exe wasn't running. If I restart, Wrye Bash still won't start, but I can delete the folder. On another (somewhat related) note, can you edit the ini to tell Wrye Bash to run a different program for a certain tool? I ask because the new version of BOSS wants you to run the .exe, while the older versions (that Wrye Bash is compatable with) want you to run the... .msi maybe? I don't have my computer with me, and I haven't tried the new version of BOSS yet, as the masterlist updates still work with the old version. Anyway, I'm sure that you're not supposed to run the .exe on the old version. Sorry for being kinda off-topic, I just didn't want to start a new thread.   6. I loaded the exact ESP/Ms that are loaded in my working folder, and the game still crashes. I assume this means some of the data is missing/corrupted or something? And Smooth613, I didn't only use the "Load Masters" feature, I also used the "Diff Masters", and it says that the masters are the same. Also, I couldn't start a new game, so the masters in my save shouldn't have any effect, right?

  8. Yeah. Just make sure that when you run Oblivion, if you're not running it through OBMM, that you run obse_loader.exe and not any of the other files. According to Tushaar, OBMM does that automatically, so that should work fine. (I use Wrye Bash more, so I'm not so well versed in the ways of OBMM.)
  9. Hey everyone. I've been working on this for days, and it's got me stumped. Thus, I come to you humbly asking for help. A while ago, I installed Nehrim, and played it for a while, but then I decided that I wanted to play good old (heavily modded) Oblivion. Thus, I fired up Wrye Bash, ran BOSS, just to be sure, went to my old save and clicked load masters. When I started the game, It crashed when the loading bar was just barely starting to move. I tried starting a new game, just to be sure, and the same thing happened. I tried a bunch of things, but none of them worked, so I uninstalled EVERYTHING, and started over from scratch. After reinstalling everything, it still crashes. I know this is something more than a simple mod conflict, because this configuration worked before. However, BOSS does make Streamline load earlier now. I don't think this is the problem, as I've moved it back to the end and it still doesn't work. Also of note: I have the GotY edition and the Knights of the Nine disk (if that matters). More importantly, when I try to start the game without the disk, the error I get is in German. This is part of the reason why I think the problem could be related to Nehrim. Here is my current load order (the one from my save): I've tried disabling things in the order I installed them, but I haven't found anything yet and it's taking forever. Now, I did back it up partway through reinstalling everything (after FCOM and Cobl, I believe), and that does work.   10. Hey, everyone. I just had to reinstall Oblivion and all my mods, and now, after installing ScreenEffects, when I save my game, the screenshot attached to that save is only one solid color. The color varies depending on where I am when I save, but it's always a solid color. Has anyone ever had a problem like this before? If so, is there a solution? I know this isn't game-breaking, but it really bugs me. :mad: Thanks for any help!! -GG
  11. Well, it took all day, but I reinstalled everything (I think) and now it works. I don't know what exactly went wrong, but I'm just glad it's fixed. However, I've found some new bugs. All NPC's have black eyes and are bald. I read up on this issue, and it seems to come from conflicting "beauty" mods. The trouble is, I'm not using any of those mods. Is there any other source for this problem? Edit: forgot my load order.
  12. Ok, so here's my DxDiag information. I moved my saves out of my save folder, and that didn't help. Regenerating the ini didn't change the behavior of the crash, either. When I reinstalled, I did back up my mods and such, but I didn't delete my Oblivion folder. Would that make a big difference? Thanks for the help!!
  13. I did check the masters in bash, and it says that nothing's changed. Both regenerating the ini and a clean boot failed to solve the problem. I'm going to try reinstalling Oblivion and see how that works. EDIT: A reinstall failed to solve my problem. I'm at a loss here.
  14. I would do a clean save update, but as it stands now, I can't load ANY save. I checked the masters, and my currently loaded mods are exactly the same as my last functioning configuration. Also, I disabled everything but Oblivion.esm and tried to start a new game, and I can't even do that. Should I just reinstall Oblivion?
  15. Hey everyone, I just encountered / created a problem with my Oblivion installation, and I'm hoping you can help. Some background: I installed the new version of Better Cities and Unique Landscapes, and after uninstalling Better Cities, I tried to start the game to make a clean save, but it wouldn't even get to the main menu. I know how temperamental Oblivion can be, so I thought nothing of it, seeing as I wasn't in a BC cell anyway, and went on with my BC installation. I started the game, and it ran fine, but I realized that I hadn't activated all of the new BC files, so I saved, exited, activated those files, and restarted the game. This is when the trouble started. From this point onward, whenever I load a save, the load bar progresses a very small amount, and then the game stops responding, and I have to quit it through the Task Manager. I have "rolled back" the versions of BC and UL to the ones that worked before, but the problem persists. I have deactivated everything but Oblivion.esm and loaded my oldest save, but that doesn't work either. I have also restarted my computer, but that didn't solve anything. Are my saves corrupted? (Please say no.) Is there some problem with Oblivion.exe? Any help you can offer would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!! -GG P.S. I just realized that it might be worth noting that I have mods that require OBSE, so I run the game through obse_loader.exe. I don't know if that matters, just putting it out there.
  16. That's odd... As far as I know, Elys Silent Voice only adds a silent sound file and a script that plays the file when the game has no sound file for that particular line of dialogue. Are you sure you didn't download anything else?
  17. All of my Xivilai are invisible. I have SM set so I can summon 4 creatures (I'm a conjuration master), and even when I summon all 4 Xivilai, they're all invisible, except for their hair. The odd thing is that I didn't change anything to cause this to stop working. Was there a fix for the problem in vanilla? Edit: Hit post button too soon.
  18. I just got back from a long trip and decided to start playing Oblivion again. However, when I summon my Xivilai, they appear as normal for a second, then turn invisible except for their hair and the glowing cloud that signifies that they are summoned. As far as I can tell, this does not happen with any of my other summoned creatures. I do have Midas Magic and Supreme Magicka, though they never caused this problem before my trip. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, have you solved it? Thanks! -GG

  20. Hi, everyone. I just got Fallout 3 and I'm ready to whip out the mods. I do have Oblivion, and have been running quite a few mods very successfully there. First, I was wondering if there were any good lists of mods to start with. I really have no idea what the "best" mods are for FO3. Second, are there any good load order guides or programs to resolve conflicts between mods? I know I've been spoiled by Wrye Bash and BOSS. Thanks, guys! -GG
  21. I uninstalled RAEVWD and ran TES4LODGen again, and now my FPS is much better. However, now whenever I look at a city from a medium-ish distance (about the distance from Frostcrag to Bruma), it turns yellow when I put my cursor over it. What might be causing this problem?
  22. Well, I reinstalled Really AEVWD, and that brought the FPS up to about 20, which is good enough for me. I think the amount of far away objects was just too much. Perhaps the ones generated by TES4LODGen are too detailed?
  23. Alright. I'm not at home right now, so I'll try that tonight. As far as my FPS range, when things aren't loading, and barring this issue, I'm almost always at/above 30 FPS. Also, could it be 71 Better Cities - VWD of the IC.esp? If I remember correctly, the file said that it only generated these LOD objects when you ran TES4LODGen. If this is the problem, would disabling it and running TES4LODGen again solve it? Or would I have to go in and delete some objects? Also, thank you so much for your help!!
