  1. Why you gotta be a dick, tho? Dude, just download the SKSE off silver lock and do what the ReadMe text file says. Presto.
  2. That would be freaking awesome. Add a laser pointer in the triangle recticle shape and bam.
  3. Simple idea, probably torturous to execute (I suspect): Anytime we press the Print Screen (or whichever hotkey you have it tied to) key to take a screenshot, this (ini code? bat file? script? ???) mod would blank the UI, and then force the engine to name the screenshot by whatever name you designate, plus the direction of compass you were facing, and approximate elevation in game (and possibly coordinates). Even better if there's the option to choose elements to include in the screenshot, like date (in-game), time (in-game), x/y coordinates, direction, whatever. And the name, instead of being screenshot10982.jpg, would be SSxx_SE_Pos12Ft_yyyyy_zzzzz.jpg, where x is the screenshot number, y is the x coordinate, and z the y coordinates (on the in-game map).
  4. Post it in spoilers. Also, run Loot. Then, check Loot's accuracy by running WryeBash (yes, this is how it works, judging from this being your first post...congrats, by the way!). Look for orange boxes. Those are mods who depend on other mods in a certain order. Not a big deal--means the author was lazy when they made the mod. In FO4Edit (yes, you'll need this, too--are you writing this down?? There'll be a quiz later...) you will uncheck all when it opens, and then load ONLY the mod whose box is orange in wryebash (leave that open). Right click, sort the masters (when it's done loading and pushing for donations), save, and close. Click on the wryebash window and the orange box turns green magically. LOOT is pretty reliable, so leave it do it's thing, but always read each mod's description before installing, especially if it's script-heavy, like War of the Commonwealth. As for you needing to sign out, that is generally a not a good sign to be crashing that hard. You're either memory-starved, or you have hardware failure. I have a similar issue on occasion with it, but my memory cards are shite. G.Skill sucks harder than black hole. Should have went to corsair. I run 2x8MB, but I have an MSI 980Ti with 6GB of vRAM to back me up, so I get by.
  5. I hope not. I have messaged him; we shall see. I want my shoulder cannon! Someone tag Ethreon or that Japanese guy who gave the finger to Bethesda when they said vehicles were impossible and then came out with quad raider bikes or something. How tf you tag people? *keeps trying*
  6. Okay, so I've noticed that when Workshop+ (or the other one, Workshop Framework, can't remember which off-hand) triggers the game to exit the settlement menu and save, those saves are corrupted, whereas a hard save is not. Hmmm...that, I believe, is what is called a "huge clue." lmao Suddenly, things are becoming more clear... Also explains why, when sorted chronologically (by default), they appeared to be randomly corrupted. All the ones that are corrupted are tied to the bad mod. But all the mods are up to date, and nothing updated the mods...did I mis-click something in vortex and not see anything because I wasn't paying attention?
  7. Yes, ma'am. I am happy to say that the other saves load. Only have an hour or so off of settlement building, but not worried about it. My OCPD just went, "Ahhhh..." lol So, now, to figure out what would bork saves randomly in the save folder? Looking through the vortex portion, it's completely random.
  8. Sorry, lol I was thinking everything was on the D:, forgetting that the C:\Users\Michael\Documents\My Games\Fallout 4\Saves is on C:. See? lmao It's why I come with a warning label. lol All the saves it's finding are the ones that are corrupted. They're the ones in the My Games folder that's botched. Hold on, I'd try to post a screen shot, but I can't find a site that nexus likes that won't return some weird error about it can't find the size of the image (???). I dunno. Another weird thing, when set to small icons, the docs folder looks like a document icon, not a folder. That's also new. Also, I never knew until now that you could look at save files in Vortex. Wtf. See, I set stuff in place as I fumble my way through a mod installation, then avoid touching it because I usually break it. That's why I don't really poke around in Vortex. My luck is infamous. That said, Vortex shows previews for some but not all. The ones that show, load in ReSaver. What did I do? No idea. They weren't working before. (copied off bing, not an image hosting site) Size-wise, they're up to 46MB, though one is 77MB--wtf? 45, 45, 77, 45, 45...lol No idea. ReSaver says, 145 plugins, 15724 strings, 2077 scripts (hey-o!), 143,657 script instances, 170,667 change forms...I can post the ReSaver log...can save files become too big? I'm going to try to load one and see what happens. I thought they were all corrupted because I was picking at random after the first three and must have been hitting bad ones.
  9. Sorry I'm late to the party. The invite must have gotten lost in the mail. First, it's only natural that Skyrim runs the worst (though you fail to mention if it was SE or LE, which could explain a few things...) because Skyrim's engine is what, 11 years old? Not only that, anytime you play with mods, you will experience a memory leak in your saves. There's no way to avoid it at all. Not even the great and powerful Dark0ne himself can get around this. That is the nature of the beast, and an accepted factor in modding. Now, I'm willing to bet in certain areas of the game, say, around the Rift and Riverwood it bogs down, right? Or it bogs down when there's more than ten NPCs on screen? Whiterun buggy, too? Those areas are notorious for lag. I also notice you use a lot of body modifications. Are those exclusive only to your character, or are they applied to all NPCs? That would also explain the lag if your computer is having to render 4k eye lashes on every NPC (I'm using hyperbole, here). What level is your character? How many hours into your save game are you? Also factors. If you're interested in eking out more performance, you could unpark your CPU cores and use a CPU timer tweak to squeeze a few more FPS out of it. GrandBulwark has an excellent (if old) page on this here. Hope this helps!
  10. There's nothing on the C: drive but the OS. Steam didn't update around that time, so that's not it. The two things that did were NVidia and Windows. That said, I don't know enough about Vortex to know how to check whether something in the virtual filing system got jacked. I'm going to end up having to try to make a new My Games folder and ditch the old one, I think, because I can't figure out what changed. I have no guarantee that the problem isn't still there, waiting to corrupt more saves again, and even reinstalling Fallout 4 isn't going to cure the issue with the My Games folder. All the other games in it work, though. I don't get it. Just dumb enough to not grasp the problem, but smart enough to know I'm too dumb to grasp the problem. lmao I really appreciate your time in this, though. :)
  11. No, ma'am. It doesn't display a preview at all. It sees the saves (they're not dimmed, as in your screen shot), but the preview is a gray box.
  12. Pleasepleaseplease help me. I have no idea what happened or why, and not even my AV guys know wtf. 400+ hours of saves, gone. Went to bed on Saturday after my Fallout 4 setup crashed yet again due to my garbage G.Skill memory cards (one of them is going bad), woke up next morning to play, suddenly, the My Games folder has a darker background than the surrounding icons, and all my saves are corrupted. Steam updated (don't really think it was that) and windows updated (but I don't think it was that, either--doesn't fit the usual Windows-type issues with Steam games and modded setups). When I load a save in Fallout 4, it immediately crashes. I keep my games and Steam on the D: drive, separate from the C: where the OS is. The D: is a SeaGate HDD, 500GB, and it's only four or five years old, no noise, never a single issue. My system is more than capable of running stuff. liquid-cooled i7-4790K @ 4.0GHz, 2x8GB of G.Skill RAM, MSI GTX 980Ti G6 GPU, 850+ Gold-Rated EVGA PSU, 250GB SSD (for the OS). All my drivers are up-to-date (with the exception of the NVidia, which just updated yet again tonight--seriously? Twice in two days??), and nothing stands out as a cause I could even point the suspicion to. What I've done to solve it: 1. Tried running ReSaver. Every single file gives this error (taken from the ReSaver>Help>ShowLog function): Version: 4.2.0-b110 SaveWindow constructed; took 1.1 s. Updating filters. Creating filters. Updating filter. Filter updated, took 2.4 ms. Choosing a savegame. ================ Reading from savegame file "C:\Users\Michael\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves\Save424_00000000M4D69636861656C_Commonwealth_050558_20191020013541_46_2.fos". Updating filters. Creating filters. Updating filter. Filter updated, took 1.2 ms. Detected a new character encoding: UTF-8. Error while reading file "Save424_00000000M4D69636861656C_Commonwealth_050558_20191020013541_46_2.fos". Width (0) and height (0) cannot be <= 0 java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Width (0) and height (0) cannot be <= 0 2. Tried running WryeBash, and the Saves boxes on the left panel are orange with a red checkmark. When you click on them, a dialogue box pops up with: Traceback (most recent call last): File "bash\balt.pyo", line 1730, in OnItemSelected File "bash\balt.pyo", line 1731, in _select File "bash\basher\__init__.pyo", line 155, in SetDetails File "bash\basher\__init__.pyo", line 153, in _setDetails File "bash\basher\__init__.pyo", line 1933, in SetFile File "bash\balt.pyo", line 187, in GetImage File "wx\_core.pyo", line 3105, in SetData wx._core.PyAssertionError: C++ assertion "Ok()" failed at ..\..\src\common\image.cpp(1577) in wxImage::SetData(): invalid image 3. Verified cache through Steam, and 6 files were missing that were replaced. No idea what. Ran BethIni afterwards to reset my inis. 4. Unticked the Read-Only button on the My Games folder Properties>General tab. Everything looks kosher on the Vortex side, but what's weird is my DLCs don't have the green buttons next to them like the other mods do in the plugins tab. Was that always like that? No idea. Never paid attention, and not sure if it's significant or not (have you seen my signature?? there for a reason lol) so I figured err on the side of caution. If you want screenshots of the My Games folder, I got you, just ask. If you want any other logs or whatnot, just ask. If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize, but the reason I placed it here is because, while I figure the saves and my 400+ hours are gone (I'm crying lol), I need to know what happened and why so it doesn't happen again. No point in playing if all my saves will be corrupted. Haven't actually tried that, yet, because I'm hoping to find a solution before it comes to that. Moderators, please move this to the correct forum if I've placed in the wrong spot? Thank you ahead of time.
  13. So, I tried uploading a new image to my signature. Forums display it properly in my Signature editor box. Doesn't come back with a borked ? in a box. Hit Save. Unable to retrieve signature image dimensions, please try another image. Really? Seemed just fine before. Gone through multiple image hosting sites, now, all of them seem to be missing image dimensions, which is strange, because I have no problems seeing them anywhere else. Help? Really annoying, getting more and more pissed off the more I think about it. https://cdn1.imggmi.com/uploads/2019/10/22/3ff1a537bcf252ee8ea44df46bcde4ff-full.png Site is a legit image uploading site since tinypic no longer works.
  14. So, I combed through the forums, and discovered that no one had yet created or asked for the creation of a mod to add the full panoply of U.S. coins to the random junk you find throughout the game. Not looking for the fussiness of replacing all the caps with coins. Quite simply, just a mod that adds pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, and gold and silver dollars, with the occasional wheat penny, zinc dime, Sacagawea dollar, and buffalo nickel thrown in for good measure. Junk that would have value only as metal scrap, but stuff that you would realistically find in safes and vaults as an anachronism of the past. It could be added to the leveled lists and be placed realistically where you would expect large amounts of coins throughout the commonwealth--registers, newspaper vending machines, Nuka Cola, Vim, and milk machines, and anywhere else appropriate. "Oh, you have a bag of pennies? What's it weigh? Two pounds? Eh...I'll give you twenty caps for it." "Twenty caps?! I had to kill--" "Look, buddy, I don't need your life story, and I really don't need the copper. Twenty caps, take it or leave it." "...gimme the damned money." "Good choice." *uncocks the hammer on the pipe pistol beneath the counter*
  15. So, there was this villain in the Commonwealth named Dr. Evil, or something, and he built this machine that allowed him to strap down two of whatever--a death claw and a human, a rad roach and Danse...whatever--pull a lever, and presto! Now, A sounds and acts like B and vice-versa. That's right, now, Preston runs around in tattered rags, roaring like a death claw (but with none of the strength, alas for him--ha ha!) while that death claw, righteously pissed at his body being used for such experimentation by the BOS, will rip a mini gun off a flying BOS vertibird and proceed to open a can of whoop-ass on you for this crime against nature, you sicko. *sigh* Sit your ass down, Preston! It wasn't that great of a shot! So, I'm thinking there'd be a little scripting with this mod, but the only thing the machine would do is hot-swap (is that possible?) behavior files, even if you have to force a refresh via load screen. Where there is a will, there is a way. Bethesda said that vehicles couldn't be implemented in the game...hold my beer while I peel out on my raider quad bike and do some wicked donuts. The lever would be the activator to trigger the script, which would then swap behavior and voice files with whatever you put in cage A and B. Once you acquire the plans, you can build one from the workshop in all your settlements. I can't be the only one who thinks it would be hilarious to have Preston hostile towards you as his voice comes out of a death claw...
  16. Not sure if this is a mod...but it should be. --Get rid of all the DLCs --Get rid of all the NPCs --Have only settlement areas you can choose from an Esc menu, beyond which is just water (rendered like in the CK) --Jam all the settlement mods together in an unholy conglomeration of menus, submenus, and subsubmenus that takes an hour to navigate through, but maximizes object availability --Add an in-game dropbox that you can drop and store frequently used static forms into --Flesh out the workshop menu with hotkeys, search functions, etc --There is no more game--the only objective is to build the biggest, most detailed settlements you can --Have an option to export the entire settlement as a _____ file so you can load it as an esp into your next game. --Have a Regenerate Previs/Precombine Mesh button in-game that you can hit after going into an interior cell area and using the PCB command --Have a way to easily upload scans of textures or other real-world items to make it even more functional. --Robot Defense be damned. This is for building beautiful settlements outside of the CK using the workshop menu interface instead, with none of the fussiness of the CK (as it's only for building stuff). --Have an option to add NPCs and idle markers, as well as run attack simulations from lists of enemies, with the ability to specify attack patterns, groupings, and goals. I would never leave my house again if someone made this. ð¤£ðð¤
  17. So, I'm not even sure this is possible because you need to also open the mod in creation kit, but I was hoping someone would be able to make a SkyUI plugin for the MCM to allow you to assign body slots to armor and clothing and accessories on the fly. That way, no more having to back out of the game to go through the tedious and error-prone fumbling through the CK that I am infamous for. The way I envision it, open the MCM, go to your SkyUI settings, select Hot Swap for body slots and then be able to go through your inventory and change each slot so you can have multiple layered pieces of armor/clothes/jewelry present without the dreaded disappearing mesh. Pleeeeeease make this a reality...? Tanin? Gopher? Anyone? *microphone feedback whines, then crickets*
  18. Very simply: Fort Dawnguard has what are called "machicolations" along the upper portion of the walls and towers. However, the machicolations are flawed in that they are not properly constructed, and everyone, Bethesda included, seems to have missed this. Machicolations were an advancement in engineering that allowed a direct way to attack wall sappers and other enemies who might attempt to build ramparts or escalades to reach the top. The murder-holes would allow castle defenders to rain down boiling oil, flaming pitch, stones, arrows, excrement, rat carcasses and worse on top of the enemies while offering relative safety to the defenders who didn't have to lean way over crenelations to do so otherwise. This is even indicated by the higher walls and tall narrow arrow slits of Fort Dawnguard, that would preclude defending the base of the walls and towers because sentries wouldn't be able to lean out of them and the machicolations already project the sentries way past the base of the walls and towers, making them even less defensible. Furthermore, the constructors of Fort Dawnguard wouldn't have added machicolations without murder-holes, anyway, because machicolations were very expensive additions to castles due to the extra engineering and specialized masonry and stone-shaping work that was required to pull them off correctly without them collapsing. Prior to stone machicolations, castles would employ wooden "hoardings," or covered platforms over the battlements that acted as machicolations. They were only used during times of war, though as they were made of wood and therefore fire-prone, so one good flaming arrow and whoosh, the whole thing goes up. Stone hoardings, or machicolations, were therefore the next step in advanced siege warfare. Therefore, I would like to see Fort Dawnguard have functional murderholes added to it (and perhaps a proper barbican) since Fort Dawnguard is clearly meant to be anachronistic, a bit of far more advanced technology in a time when such things would be stunning to most, akin to the Ulfbehrt sword being made of high-carbon steel 800 years ahead of the technique being discovered during the industrial revolution. To whit, I want to see these: added to these: http://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/110/5013400-1362184469.jpg Thanks!
  19. The last time this was brought up, accoding to Bing's analytics, was in 2014. Time to bring it up again. MISSILE CAMERAS! Why is this not a thing in Skyrim? We already have the kill camera that will occasionally trigger when you fire off an arrow and take out a guard at an impossibly, never-again-in-this-lifetime range. Why not have a toggle-able switch in the MCM to turn on the missile cam? Or have a console command coded in? http://i.makeagif.com/media/2-16-2015/KLjU76.gif Imagine the surprised looks on guards' faces you can capture as they take an arrow to the knee! Totally need this to be a mod.
  20. Well, first, that browser looks positively ancient. It looks like Windows Vista or XP. And even if it isn't, the text shouldn't be that blurry. Bleh. I would first try a different browser after clearing the cache, and updating all your drivers. It could be something as simple as a graphical setting not meshing with the browser (and Firefox has these issues on occasion). iObit has a good software suite I use that is pretty lightweight (and I'm sure it probably doesn't do as much as I think it does, but one of it's packages is DriverBooster3, which will keep your drivers up to date and running good). Advanced System Care can be found here. Then, I would look at the monitor's settings in the control panel on the computer. It could be something like your contrast is too high or something oddball like that. But you are 100% right--it shouldn't look like that mess. It doesn't look that way for me, which leads me to believe it has to be something unique to your computer and its settings. If you like, I'll help you trouble shoot it. That browser just looks so old, though. lol
  21. Can you post a screenshot so we know what you mean by blurry text? Downloads being slow may be on the ISP end, not on Nexus. Especially not with premium membership. But they are actively working on the site, too, so that could also play a factor. By summer I expect most of the big issues to have been resolved.
  22. I had the same problem. Firefox for whatever reason is starting to suck like a black hole. I went to my notification settings, and lo and behold, they defaulted back to off. Who knows? Maybe it's the site being tweaked, or it's firefox not liking the new site. And for the others, holy ****. Stop already. "Oh, the owner doesn't care about us! The owner wants to greedily make money! He doesn't care about the opinion of the majority! He's going to steal our first born!" Well, maybe that last part is a stretch, but still... The problem is, you think this is Robin: http://33.media.tumblr.com/9d02368785cbefba1f4fd922f36f9db0/tumblr_nm5tkyR6tK1qlu8two2_500.gif When the reality is actually more like this: http://49.media.tumblr.com/c48bd37a7ff2e5c3a23704e06a834750/tumblr_ms66d3Rj2N1r0b2hgo8_400.gif "Get that **** outta here! We ain't having bad coding!" You realize how ridiculous your assertion is, right? Robin is setting up the new site so that there's less disruption moving forward in the future. Face it, the old site was going the way of the dinosaur if for no other reason than because the formatting and coding was archaic in internet terms, and needed to be brought forward and updated to the newer coding and formatting that is out there. This is the equivalent of complaining about Chrome not using java anymore, and Firefox starting to do the same. Should they put their browsers at risk simply to satisfy a few vocal flagellants in the minority? (And yes, I know exactly what flagellant means, and I stand by it) Or should they move forward and establish a newer solid foundation to build on that will allow greater innovation and customization later on? Seriously, quit with the whining. It's beating a dead horse that was taken out back and shot for a reason.
  23. Is there a way to toggle the collision boxes on in-game so that you can actually see them? I know there's a few console commands for toggling on markers and other dev stuff...
  24. So, my birthday is at the end of May, and I was just thinking... Maybe Dark0ne will release the beta in time for my birthday! http://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/59281045.jpg Thank you, Dark0ne, Tannin, Kit, and the rest. Too many to name, too little time and space to do it. :D
