  2. Public Schools need to teach about only one thing with regards to sex: How to not get STD's. Everything else a human can learn on their own but an STD doesn't have an Undo button. In cases like this we need to institutionalize the education. A good parallel example would be how dangerous a Car can be and how we ensure that people have to maintain a drivers' license and a good driving record to continue to drive. This needs to be mandatory because its a public health issue more than a social issue. Let's be clear, though. I arrive at this from a financial perspective: its cheaper to explain to a young man or woman why they should use a condom on the whole than for the country to bear the financial burden of treating people with these sometimes lifelong diseases. As for the question of whether or not same sex education belongs in schools? I would say no. If people want to bash on LGBT and commit crimes/hate crimes, that needs to be stamped out via the criminal justice system just like any other crime. Trying to educate in school will just make some kids think: "i have to do this stupid course because person X in my class is LGBT" and this will cause social pressure on this person we already know is statistically disadvantaged. Basically, Less carrot, more stick. With Regards to WursWaldo's point about the stats on Alcoholism, etc. inside the lgbt community, the cart is before the horse in your perspective. The Stats represent a result of Systemwide Discrimination, however they can be misused to represent LGBT as raging drug addict alcoholics. The reason why 'the truth has no place' is because it can be misconstrued, and abused. We as a society have to consider this class of person as a Discriminated minority, and assist them in Mitigating issues like alcoholism, depression, suicide. Being fair though, I do think that Sex education is a significant factor in the STD statistics.

Maybe try it from another angle have you considered Adding a mod that would give you UI prompts when your hungry? that being said project nevada does allow you to adjust the speed at which the primary needs kick in so maybe you could use project nevada to slow down the primary needs kicking in until they are something you barely have to tend to? just my thoughts.

Keep in mind that when you Put in the new graphics card you will be removing the old one, and that represents the specific wattage. if your upgrading to a current midrange card it will not represent a significant jump in wattage. the only thing your going to need to factor in additionally is that PSU's diminsh in capacity over time, so if the PC is very old than you can't go by the current psu's Rated Wattage. there are other things that you can do on a budget to try to make up the wattage required, like disconnecting an unused CD drive, etc. you Can google power supply calculator and the 3rd result is not one from a corporate website. i would calc my system and make a judgement based on that. buying a psu 'just because' you want a graphics card is a foolhardy waste of money if you don't actually need to. Don't take that as free license to skip it if you DO need it though.

  7. the type of quiver you are talking about is called a belt quiver or a hip quiver. it would be cool to see this in oblivion. however potential problems do exist. due to the nature of a hip quiver, it would sit near to where a sheathed sword sits on the PC. as long as the potential modder is aware of this, then they can avoid clipping altogether. as well as clipping with armor, etc. on the note of the animation.. it kind of already exists. the draw 1h weapon animation could be used to get the arrow from the hip (i believe) and you could maybe mix into it the Nocking of the arrow from the original draw arrow animation. Just a thought.

Iooking forward to seeing this for sure. would be cool to see. tbh im suprised Callandor and other book based fantasy items haven't made it into oblivion. and on the note of the the books.. if i wanted to read ayn rand, i'd read ayn rand. i think it kind of fitting that the objectivist author sold the series for a song and knowingly let the TV show piss on the Canon of the books right out of the gate. its like Xena without the humor. at least the TV show for the most part doesn't read like fan fiction humped a thesis paper on objectivism. but thats entirely off topic :S
  9. just a nuts out random guess at something you could try. why not try working around the problem altogether? maybe get the script to spawn a baddie in a cell like the testinghall, and then kill it with a player based kill command. as long as you can get the script to pull the mob your trying to kills' health, you can spawn a leveled mob (preferably one that wouldnt leave a corpse) and then instakill it. that would be a very hot fix, and fairly inefficient, but it could do the trick in a pinch. besides, that way you dont have to worry about breaking UV's code.
  10. i ask this on a by opinion of the poster basis. there are literally a buzzilion texture and graphics mods for oblivion. looking at it from a perspective on enhancer the stock game: IE: Retextures, city mods, etc. by opinion of the poster, whats the best of the best combination of compatible texture packs + mods based on beautification for oblivion?   11. o/ Been a smoker for about 4 years, started on stupidity. i have tried of few of the aids in the past but find myself getting back on the smoking wagon about 5-7 months after quitting. i believe its because im stuck on the oral habit, and because i live with other smokers. i do NOT want in this thread -The million reasons to quit (trust me, i know them) -Trolls In advance if this flames out i genuinely apologize to the mods So to people whom are smokers i ask What quit smoking aids have you tried? what successes have you had? do you know of an aid that can be used to fix just the oral fixation (later down the road) without involving the Nic? Is there a product that helps in that week 2 -> month 3 phase where your lungs are regrowing tissue and you cough like crazy? Thanks for any insight. and to anyone wondering, im asking here because its so far off topic, i might actually get some neutral answers, and honest opinions. Thanks in advance :biggrin:
  12. are you referring to like that half human khajiit race? i keep seeing photos of them all over the nexus, but the only mod ive found is blocked by author. and does the OP mean replacing the NPCs? cause in that case you can run into big conflicts, ie: with the overhaul mods.
  13. neat concept, id play it. but you need to add in some gorier (ah la Deadly Reflex or other, optional if the player has it installed) brutality to the emporers death. always bugged me how the guy offing him misses on the first swing. hallo bullet time beheading of Uriel!

Pop open the CS>Load up Oblivion.esm>click on the Gameplay Tab > Click on Settings> look for EditorID FAIExteriorspectatordetection (Default Value 1000).. thats the variable i think your looking for. if thats not it its another one in that list. setting it to 300 gets about what youd expect of normal people, lol. just make an ESP with that one variable and put at the bottom of your load order. to others reading this.. in this same menu you can universally mod stuff like the players stagger percentage, change some other attack variables, etc. also as opposed to making it its own ESM you could mod it into your friendly neighborhood combat mod, as long as you don't redistribute it, and you have the right to modify it for personal use (per the licence agreement)
  16. i know there is a mod out that that reduces NPC Detection Rad. i saw it and didnt download it like an idiot. does anyone know where this is offhand? Kudos to the finder! EDIT: to the guy north of me: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25871 youll need the HGEC body mod as well. that ones in the most endorsed of all time your welcome =) (kudos welcome as well) by the way, when you DL it, go into the CS and take one of the helms without the [a] suffix, and change it from removing the head, to only removing the amulet and hair. also a lot of the gear in that mod is poorly balanced, and you should patch it up for yourself
  17. i know what kind of assassin mod i want. one where it adds about 40 NPCS all around the cities and small towns, with routines, where quest pointers only tell you the city, or district. you get paid 500 gold a head, and can off those 40 any way you want. No Argonian Hearts No Horses with red eye No sanctuary that you dont get the well key for for 5 missions. just lotsa stabby stabby.
  18. well. you need to look at the deadly reflex quest lines i quoted to fully understand. if you just put in a line of "set health to 0" for any npc, then the npc will have just... died. they wont have been killed by the player. thats the issue with oblivion XP and UV. UV kills the mob, but doesnt say that you killed it. (the fact that your kill counter doesnt go up is a symptom of the problem. because ob XP looks for the killshot to dish out XP, you need to change how UV is killing them. im not 100% sure how to fix it.. and most likely a lot of even the advanced scripters would have to think for a bit to chunk this one out. not alot of people have developed successful combat scripts, (theres really only DR and UV) and they both act waaay outside of what the CS on top of gamebyro was designed to do. what im saying is that your walking into uncharted territory. i took a look into fixing it, and i gave up. lol. but that doesnt mean you should. just download DR (if you dont have it) and try to follow it through from a shield bash (or an npc attack, like an impale down) from start to finish, through the script. get the hang of it, and the logic of it.. and when you understand how skycaptian is getting that final result in the way he is, try to apply it to UV. at the end of the day all you need to release is a seperate .esp that mods the UV script. working on this is going to be 90% figuring it out and 10% fixing it. and i wish you the best of luck. cause if you do fix it, youll have kudos from a lot of people. how DR looks into quests if if an action is confirmed to be happening, ie, an impale, it sets a variable that is usually 0 to 1. the quest if then built on "if ___ is 1" and then it has the list of actions. these are done as a quest script.

Well, i wouldnt be discouraged. just make it as a seperate patch from the ESP. you can probably find and replace everything in the scripts. youd need to go through them all, probably. heck, for all you know, all the UV kills might reference one killscript. from there its a matter of making the kills in that script setstage in a quest, and then getting the quest to set victimhealth to 0 (theres a bit more to it than that, but thats the guts of it).
  21. in browsing the nexus, ive seen a mod that does 1 - 3 simply by reducing the NPCs detection radius. i just hunted for it but couldnt find it. (its prob in gameplay effects and changes). however if your truly interested in a mod, you should consider making it yourself. that is how some of the best mods get started out. Good luck!
  22. maybe comparing it to how Deadly reflex handles its kills to UV? just a shot in the dark. after all, DR5 works like a charm with oblivion xp. or adding a variable // counter that you can force oblivion XP to pull from UV.I dont even have uv, but its just a guess (downloading it to look into it now) Edit: I Think.. and im probably wrong on this. first i want to say that Skycaptain is a genius. second i want to say that the reason im looking at DR to try to fix whats wrong with UV is cause DR and Ob XP work seamlessly. [Deleted: Earlier thesis based off incomplete information] I Will say this. DR is difficult to understand. but Skycaptains a genius. Edit 2nd time: okay wait that was all wrong. what skycaptain is doing to kill people is when a confirmed script (lets say an impale) is confirmed in his calculations, he adds an item related to its particular type of kill to your inventory as a ring. ie: item called ring of death is used to kill the player (you can look this up in DR5 easily to see what im talking about, the editor id is ringofdeath, and an exmaple of a quest that is used to kill the player is called [skycaptainsNPCimpaledownquestscript] an example of a script to kill an npc is skycaptainsimpaledownquestscript [look at line 508 in this script for the exact line that the PC kills the NPC]). this triggers a quest that sets the victimhealth to 0 or the players health to 0 or just uses a line of quest script to say that the player killed the npc. UV does NOT kill using a quest. while i havent looked directly into it, it can be assumed it kills enemies in the script without ownership for the kill: Ie: they had a heart attack or something (humor). so yeah. thats probably the problem. DR adds oblivion XP because it kills enemies using a mini quest, once a bunch of variables are checked. and UV doesnt add XP because it doesnt kill them that way. the quest that skycaptain uses basically tells the engine that you killed the person, while (this is an assumption) uv just kills them, similar to how a guard would kill a bandit on the side of the road. you can still loot the body, etc. and this works fine in stock oblivion cause youre skill points come from using the skills, not kills. I think.. if thats correct, that means that the fix isnt as simple as it initially seems. Its not a matter of 1 or 2 missing lines of code, or the kill counter not racking up (but the kill counter is an indication that scripts are killing people in UV, Not the playerchar) its a matter of how UV is killing people. if you wanted to fix it you would have to use (probably) skycaptains method of using an item as an identifier, and from there use a mini quest to do the kills (also asking his permission would be a good idea). that means going through UV, and removing all the current kill references, and turning them into quest references (via an item being added to inventory). and thats probably why HeX hasnt just released a hotfix himself. its more than just an hour or two of coding (thats an assumption). and, on a sidenote, WAAAY beyond my skill (and i dont even use UV, lol but i guess i would if it worked with obliv xp). There could Feasibly be a way to make UV reference a line of code inside oblivion XP (no major experience to back this up, just a shot in the dark), or make it give out a stock amount of XP for every UV kill (just theorizing with no actual information) my making UV a master file of oblivion XP and linking them through script. that would be a very 'hot' fix, but it wouldnt scale well, unless you created a base amount of XP, and then just put a multiplier on it based on Chars level. But then again, that wouldnt necessarily scale well with Obliv xps current (and excellent) system. Remember im not 100% sure on this. but it seems likely to me.

  25. Thats Very True Kier, a good point. What im trying to say is that the Gameplay mechanics to make the mod are there. but its not worth making (imo) if you can't attach it to lore. do you have any ideas on the concept? also a mod like this would kick butt for ills Elsweyr mod. (just a thought)
