  1. SOLVED: turns out that in fact it was the script mismatch I mentioned in my previous post. Unfortunately, in order for the fix to take effect you need to start a new game (so if anyone in the future runs into this, sorry, your current save is probably SOL). In any case, after removing the script mismatch and starting a new game, Barbas appears in the correct place and Ill Met by Moonlight proceeds correctly after talking to Sinding the first time.
  2. I may have a lead on the problem, but still have not been able to crack it. I found that I had a mixed up install of Kryptopyr's Patch Hub that included scripts for patches that I was not using the ESP for, including ones that replace the vanilla scripts for the affected quests. I thought that would be it, but.... I did a new, clean install of the Patch Hub without the scripts, then rolled back a few saves and tried getting the quests again. Unfortunately I still have the same behaviours. After being asked to find the dog for Lod, I go to the quest marker but Barbas still isn't there. After talking to Mathies and Sinding, I have the Cursed Ring of Hircine but the Ill Met By Moonlight quest is not in the journal. Quest stage says it's at 0 (even though Sinding gave me the ring so I should be at stage 10 or 20) and the White Stag is also a no show. It's like the dialog is all ok, and it even gives me the Cursed Ring of Hircine, but for some reason it just will not actually trigger the quests. So, Question: if the game previously had a "bad" (or mismatched) version of a quest script, but now has a "good" version of it, will it read the "good" version or is the "bad" version somehow baked into the save? (Even though I went back to a save file from before starting either quest?)
  3. I'm having a couple of quests refuse to start or progress, strangely all in the Falkreath area. Specifically: After being asked to find the dog for Lod, I go to the quest marker but Barbas isn't there. This is repeatable after multiple reloads. After talking to Mathies and Sinding, I have the Cursed Ring of Hircine but the Ill Met By Moonlight quest is not in the journal. Quest stage says it's at 0 (even though Sinding gave me the ring so I should be at stage 10 or 20) and the White Stag is also a no show. The first problem has happened in a couple of different test playthroughs. This is the first I've seen the second problem, but that may be because I haven't been explicitly testing that quest so I just never saw it. I've taken a look in XEdit to see if there are any conflicts around those quests but I cannot see anything obvious. (Not to say it isn't a conflict -- very likely is -- but that if it is it's one I'm not skilled enough to spot.) Any help appreciated. Load Order - Total 467 Mod List - Total 750
  4. Hi, HadToRegister, This is for SE (I didn't see a dedicated SE forum, so figured this was an appropriate place). My modlist and load order are in the spoilers. Totals are 750 active mods and 467 active plugins (many of which are ESL flagged, hence the high number). All are managed by MO2.

  6. Ok, I finally figured it out (whew!). The cause is the encounter zone mods I had installed (Arena and MEZF - Missing Encounter Zones FIXED). Once I disabled those two, Alduin starts fighting properly.
  7. I still have not had any success in solving this issue. I went through all of the Packages, NPC records, and Quest Aliases in Xedit. This didn't turn up anything, as pretty much all of them were unchanged from vanilla. While doing the above, I found that The Paarthurnax Dilemma and Bugfix Compilation made some edits to (surprise surprise) Paarthurnax and Alduin, so I tried removing them. At this point I am completely mystified and can't think of anything else to try. What's especially baffling is Google doesn't come up with anyone else having had this problem. Somehow I'm the only person in the world who is getting this.
  8. I'm having a Main-Quest-Breaking issue with Alduin after returning from the time wound with Dragonrend. Alduin will not aggro, and when I hit him with Dragonrend he just keeps flying around. I can confirm I am hitting him because he gets the blue glow effect, but it's not forcing him to land. Also, regardless of what I hit him with (Dragonrend or arrows) his health bar never shows up. So far, I have tried the following without success: Reload from an earlier saveRemove mods that affect dragons Clean the save file using Fallrim toolsFast travel between High Hrothgar and TotWUse console on Alduin to resetai, disable, enable, force hostileSort load order using LOOT My guess is something is interfering with the script to transition Alduin out of dialog mode into combat mode. I have no idea what, though, or how to identify it. I can't see anything in XEdit that would be causing this (although that's probably more because of limitations in my modding knowledge than anything else -- I don't know how to recognize what I need to fix). Current Load Order: Here is a snippet that I believe covers the last part of the cut scene where you learn Dragonrend followed by me attempting to engage Alduin in battle. EDIT: the dragon related mods I was using but have disabled during troubleshooting are: Serio's Enhanced Dragons RedoneDeadly Dragons - LoremongerSerio's patch for the above pairDragon Animation Replace in Special EditionDragon Remains (Updated)The dragon stalking fix from Bugfix Compilation Any and all help appreciated.

I've been using FNIS with MO 1 and MO 2 for years without issue. Fore may think it doesn't work, but, well, if he does he's wrong. If you're not sure how to get it set up, both Gopher and Gamer Poets have very clear instruction videos available.

  12. Ok, found the solution - posting here in case anyone has this problem in the future. Turns out it's not the woodwalkway textures at all - it's the textures in \textures\clutter\stockade I replaced the ones I had with a fresh set from the Skyrim HD mod and all is well. (Now, *why* Bethesda would have put something like this in the Clutter folder instead of the Architecture folder is one of life's little mysteries. But there ya go....)
  13. Hi again. I have another texture problem. In this case, some of the wood platforms used in forts etc. are using a very low res texture. Here are two examples: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Images/475738/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Images/477418/? A commenter on the first image suggested replacing the woodwalkway01.dds file. Thing is, I have replaced that one, repeatedly, using texture packs such as the Vivid series, Amidian Born, and Tamriel reloaded. None of them help in game. At this point, I am not convinced it is the texture at all - it could be a messed up NIF, or it could even be an ESP is directing the game to use something in a BSA instead of the loose files. Or it could be something else altogether, I dunno, grasping at straws here.... Here is my LOOT log: Also using ENB v264 with Phinix's preset and SSME, and SKSE 1.07.01.   14. Perfect! That was exactly it. For anyone else who has this problem, the mod in question is in fact "aMidianBorn Book of Silence" - at the bottom of the files list is a Skyforge Hotfix. When I installed that, the problem was fixed. Thanks, Gamefever.
  15. Hi, all. I have a weird one. Some (but not all) of the weapons and shields are showing with purple textures, but only when NPCs are carrying them. When the PC carries them, they are fine. For example: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Images/474957/? In this image, both characters are carrying hunting bows (I tried pickpocketting Aela to confirm which weapon it was). The PC has textures, but the NPC is purple. This suggests to me that it may be an ESP reference rather than a problem with the NIF or DDS, but I have no clue which ESP or ESM might be the culprit. One thing that would be cool for the Download Locations setting would be to allow it to be rule based rather than picking a specific preferred server. For example, allow users to select from things like "closest to me", "Fewest users", "Premium only", "Lowest latency" etc. That type of capability might also enable you to move some of the logic server side rather than having the client decide where it's going to try to download from. Having it be server side would also allow you to implement more of the types of changes you're discussing without depending on user's updating their clients (example: client sends a request and says it wants to use the server "closest to me" - on the server side you change the code that decides how to respond to that type of request).
  18. Are there any plans to institute some of the more advanced features of TESNexus on FO3Nexus? For example, the top 100, the files of the month, etc? I miss those when I go to FO3Nexus :P
