  1. Looking at your LO, the only thing I can think of is to suggest making sure you've gone through the full sorting and bashing process. Checking "Sorting," followed by "Merged and Bashed" in my player modding guide, linked in my sig below. Please let me know if that helps.

  3. Thank you for explaining this. I read early on when I was learning about a difference between merged mods and a merged patch. Aren't these two different things used for different reasons? It seems the merged patch (not merged mods) lets mods that would normally fight for priority actually work together. For example, one mod changes a weapon's weight while another changes its rate of fire. My understanding is the merged patch allows both to happen, since these mods are not changing the exact same characteristic. It's also my understanding that the bashed patch handles leveled lists better, which is why I remove that entry from the merged patch.
  4. I've never had issues with the way I use merged patches. I delete the leveled lists from it and let the bashed patch take care of that. But if you have more insight as to why this is a bad idea, I would very much appreciate it if you could share it so I can update my own knowledge and my guide. :-)
  5. I have not found any search results for this issue. When I enter Virgil's cave, there are no issues. As soon as I start walking past the turrets and into the main cave area and begin to approach Virgil, the game CTDs. This happens without fail. I've never encountered this before. My first thought is a mod issue, but I'm trying to remember if I've done this quest with most or all of the mods I'm currently using - I think I have. EDIT 2: Solved. The latest version of Super Mutant Redux messes this scene up. No idea if it's because of this mod alone or because it conflicts with another mod. I've taken it out of my LO and all is well. EDIT: Workaround: Open console. Type "help Virgil 4" then "player.placeatme (id)" where (id) is the first NPC entry for Virgil. He'll appear right behind you and begin his expected conversation with you. To reply, point your character at the location of the original Virgil further in the cave without moving, and the dialog options will appear. Conversation can be completed and quest can be continued. Simply leave the cave and go.   8. The only curved floors and walls I currently have in my modded game are the concrete ones. Before I go hacking around to create more variety, does a mod to create a variety of curved floors and walls already exist?
  9. They missed it! They couldn't fulfill the plan for the missile guidance systems on time for the war, and half of the materials were lost on the way anyway! :D :nuke: :laugh: :nuke:

  11. I was recently wondering why Boston itself is not a crater. In a real nuclear war, the major cities would be targets, not southern Massachusetts. Ditto DC in FO3.
  12. When I crouch, the environment gets brighter. I have the latest ENB binaries. This happens with or without a preset, with or without using the ENB adaptation, and with or without using original adaptation. What's causing this and how do I stop it from happening? EDIT: Whatever happened got baked into my save. I loaded an earlier save and this does not happen. So I'm just going to go back to that earlier save and go from there.
  13. I have unlimited companion framework... maybe I should check out AFT. Used to use it in Oldrim. It's great. Thanks for the compliment. I had fun making it. If I ever have that much sick time again, I'll have to update it. :)

I've found a couple of companion carry weight mods, but I was wondering if there is a mod out there that simply increases the carry weight of all companions - no magazines, no other hoops to jump through. I don't like that I can carry a ton of stuff, but some of my companions are done after I give them a few guns.
  15. Based on what you said, it's possible the game got updated because of CC and now some of your mods don't quite line up. NMM should warn you about those. Make sure you clean the plugins LOOT tells you to, with the exception of those the mod authors warn you not to clean. Make sure you've taken care of post-LOOT sorting in Wrye, as LOOT is not the end-all of sorting. Make sure you have merged and bashed patches.   16. Downloaded Project Valkyrie. Hopefully this will help sidestep this and other normally show-stopping glitches from ruining an otherwise nice play-through. If Project Valkyrie does in fact help with that, I will document it.
  17. This happens to me sometimes and is related to moving the main workbench. Basically, you can fix it by enabling the workbench in the console after looking up its ID. It's in the tips and tricks article of my modding guide, linked in my sig. If you run into this again and this particular tip helps, please let me know so I can document it. :)
  18. Isn't there a DoF menu item in the game's settings menu? Have you changed that? Once you get your settings right, make your ini files read-only.
  19. I was wondering if anyone has any tricks for when Nick sits in the wrong chair in his office, bringing the main questline to a screeching halt. You can't go look for Kellogg or follow the Institute or Brotherhood main questlines. I'm actually hoping to document any tricks for my FO4 guide, for those who decided to ignore the main questline for a while and don't want to start a new game when this is the only thing that bugged out. So any cheats to work around this bug would be appreciated. I've tried triggering quests in the console but that doesn't seem to work with this particular bug.
  20. was nmm bug - nmm deactivated most of my plugins without warning. upgraded nmm, hopefully won't happen again.
  21. I wondered if I need to update the mods. I'm going to look into that, but... I posted this because all this happened BEFORE anything updated. To reiterate: 1. I played, things worked, I exited to desktop. 2. For two weeks, I did not even touch NMM or play the game, or run Steam. 3. Some time later, I ran NMM and played and this happened. The same game version was still there on my system that I used last time. 4. To troubleshoot, I THEN updated the game and F4SE. So this was really weird. None of my other NMM games had any weirdness.
  22. I have not played FO4 for a couple of weeks or so. In that time, I have changed nothing - did not update FO4, did not update NMM - did not touch anything FO4 related. Today I tried to play and got this: https://steamcommunity.com/id/audiodef/screenshot/963091938892120178 I looked around to see what needed updating. I let Steam go ahead and update FO4. I downloaded and installed the corresponding F4SE. I tried reinstalling one or two of the mods that are "missing." None of that helped. In addition, I get popups after trying to launch that say: "Unsupported runtime version (expected v1.10.82). cc_cleaner will be disabled." Followed immediately by: "LooksMenu version Error: expected game version 1.10.82.0 your game version is 1.10.98.0 some features may not work correctly" And then: "Your game version: v1.10.98.0 Expected version: v1.10.82.0 Mod Configuration Menu will be disabled." Then the game runs, and the missing plugins error appears when I try to load a save. If I ignore the warning, the game actually loads, but mods are obviously missing. Actually, I think I know what needs to be done about the last two - I'm just including them for completeness. What the heck could mess up my game without having touched it at all? EDIT: Checked my Skyrim SE with NMM, seems okay, so I think I can rule out general filesystem booboos. Everything else in my Win10 setup works.
  23. Auto-saves are off. It's one of the first things I do when playing Bethesda games.
