I vaguely recall having this bug once, and I think it was before I got super-conscientious about how I modded my game. I have not gotten it since modding my game according to a guide I've published. So, if anyone is willing to go through my modding guide with this specific bug in mind and let me know whether or not you still experience this glitch, I would be much obliged. (And hopefully it will help others.) Guide is linked in my sig.

A rebuild is always a good opportunity for that. :-) -
I'm thinking of making a mod to add a settlement workshop to Eddie Winter's hideout. Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to add a workshop to the game using the CK?

That sounded like a really weird glitch. I'm glad you got it fixed. -
automatron - red light on automatron issue
audiodef replied to Keradiin36's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Not sure if this will help, but try making sure you clean the base game files and do a proper sorting. Look for the sections on cleaning the game files and sorting in the guide linked in my sig. Also try setting up your merged and bashed patches, also mentioned in this guide.- 2 replies

Try going through the FO4 guide linked in my sig and make sure you follow all the steps except the mod installation part - you already have a mod list of your own. That should give you the best stable setup you can get. After that, crashes and issues can be more reliably traced to specific mods, usually known issues suggested by others.

What's the answer? I'm curious about this. -

Wow, dude, Micro$oft strikes again. Win10 on my gaming laptop "updated" the other day, the result of which was fortunately only as bad as blowing away my wallpaper. So, your game was working pre-update, and bjorked post-update? -
How to negate insect damage in PA?
audiodef replied to audiodef's topic in Fallout 4's Creation Kit and Modders
Your post got in there three times... That's not where I want to go. I don't want to remove bugs or make PA impervious. I just want to edit the PA attributes to what I think is more realistic. People shoot you with bullets = your PA takes a hit. Some bloatfly shoots a maggot at you = your PA laughs and shrugs it off. Seriously, a maggot is not going to make a dent in a piece of metal. However, I want the bugs still in the game because they can hurt you when you're not wearing PA. Someone punches you - THEY should get hurt from hitting solid metal, but anyway, your PA is not going to get dented with a fist. PA could be damaged by one of those heavy gauntlets, though. -
It's hard to say what's causing the crashes based on just your load order. There's a bit more to a stable modded game experience than install and sort. Here's a guide I hope will be useful. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/31762 Make sure you have covered all the steps necessary to clean the game files, add your mods, sort properly, etc. You should be okay to install your own list of mods instead of the ones in the guide if you prefer, or you can start over with the guide and then work on tweaking your own mod list. Any questions, feel free to ask! P.S. The DLC are worth having, for the most part, and there are a few mods that require them. So if you *can* get them, I think you should.

I know there are already power armor mods, but none do exactly what I have in mind. I've looked through the CK and it looks like I would have to script what I want to do. I could use some advice, being new to CK scripting. What would I have to do to make a PA mod that makes PA impervious to very specific things? Those things are: InsectsDogsMelee, fists, etc.I don't want to merely increase damage resistance. I was thinking it makes no sense that bloatflies, dogs and fists can damage your PA or you while you're wearing PA. I want to negate damage from those but leave other damage types intact.

Here, try going through this guide. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/31762 :-)

I wonder if a modification of Super Mutant Redux could include a female variant.

Sure, but that would mean crashes all the time, not just when fast travelling. Also, most of the time a screwy load order doesn't crash the game but messes-up some mods' assets. Most of the time. These steps should be done anyway. LOOT is not correct 100% of the time. Even if it doesn't solve the OP's issue, it will make his game more stable to be certain the LO is not master-bjorked.

Nobody sees sun rays like that so often in real life anyway.

"Hey, Preston." *short cough* "Just point me to it." "I got word of a settlement that needs our help. Here, I'll mark it on your map." STARTED: PRESTON TAKES A GAMBLE. Send Preston to New Vegas.

I'm looking at the vanilla power armor in the CK under Items -> Armor -> PowerArmor. Opening PA parts shows the damage resistances in the lower right. I would like to modify these, but nothing actually happens when I select a new resistance to add and give it a value. Select a Damage Type from the drop-down list, type in a Resist value... then what? Clicking OK just closes the window. EDIT: Solved. Finally grew enough of a brain to try right-clicking on things.

New Modder, Help with Load Order (No idea what I am doing)
audiodef replied to HmCabrera's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
You know, I actually don't know if you need to rebuild your merged and bashed patches after cleaning your game files, since normally, cleaning your game files is something that happens very early in the modding process, and creating your merged and bashed patches happens much later. I would say yes, to be on the safe side. Alright, it does seem like something got bjorked somewhere. What happens with clothing if you start a new game with no mods loaded? (Loading a modded save with no mods loaded can actually result in seeing all kinds of issues, so that's not a great indicator of whether something is wrong.) -
Yeah, but it's just an explanation. Not very exciting. It'd be more fun to take Nick on a quest to clear up his own personal questions to his satisfaction.

I would love to see a Valentine quest mod that explores his origins. We know he's a discarded prototype. I imagine this mod starting any time after you meet him, with a quest prompt along the lines of "Ask Valentine about his story." Hearing his vanilla story line about being a discarded prototype then triggers the main mod quest to go explore some abandoned Institute vault where he was made, where you can find out through holotapes and terminals why he was abandoned on the surface without being destroyed or deactivated. Of course, to make it interesting, there are perils of various types along the way. Maybe even a boss inhabiting the vault, as an explanation of why it was abandoned. Alternatively, the mod could alter the actual institute so that you can find out there what happened, but I'm not sure how you could make it interesting a la boss fight. Plus, that would depend on the player character being at all interested in the Institute, so maybe a separate vault would be more attractive to more players in general.

NEEDY ROBOTZ R NEEDY. Seriously, this sounds like a great idea. My one robot so far at Sanctuary bugs me every time I pass him. Maybe I'll look into this myself, although I'm almost a total n00b at making mods.

The first thing I thought of was to re-install Do It Yourshelf, play the game to see if things are working, and if so, either leave it or go through the correct uninstall procedure.
