Just finished up the second building on the Estate :) http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr56/thunderclan2/Untitled-5.png

I'm currently taking a break from book modding and working on a new project for my own use but don't see any reason not to release it when I finish. Have made up plans for a massive player-owned estate in the Land's End worldspace. Currently nearly done with the second building and at the moment have a total of 12 areas on my to do list. Like I said, I am making this first for myself so it will be very good for anyone who has a large number of companions, a huge pile of treasure or even both. Suggestions are always welcome of course :)

Second building is half done, need to do the upper level and then furnish it all :)
-
I actually remember seeing that before when I was first thinking about this project...I think I'll stick to building instead of landscaping for the moment though :) Almost finished ransacking the Modder Resources, found quite a few nice pieces I can likely make use of. Also added another two items to my possibility list. I think I may be slightly crazy since I plan to custom build all my interiors but hey, not like I don't have tons of time on my hands currently :)

I think I may have started to get the hang of things now. Had to relocate as I discovered my original building site was a little too sloped to look good, so ended up setting up the dock on the opposite side of the island. The new locale does have a very nice view though, especially at sunset. Haven't gotten the arrival boat moved yet since I wanted something more then a dock to mark the area. So after a bit of work I have my first building complete: A small warehouse near the dock (because really, where else are supplies going to come from if not by ship. Nothing else here at the moment :) ) Do have a new question however. Are road tiles hidden away in the CS somewhere or are they a terrain thing? Going to have to get creative if they're terrain, don't really want to mess with that if I can help it.

Remembered I could use the console to turn the collision off and fly. Got a nice bird's eye view and found the perfect spot to start building. Took down a half dozen cell numbers. Planning to start small of course, going to build the dock and get the Land's End arrival ship moved so people don't have to walk forever to get to the spot...
-
It does give the cell numbers, helps a bit anyway :) Get the feeling it will still be rather awkward trying to build for the first little bit but I think once I get a few buildings planted I might be able to work it out...
-
Ok, now I have an actual serious problem. How do I navigate this place in the CS? Aside from the Plains of Myst Haven every area is marked as Wilderness which is not helpful with finding the nice locations I discovered...
-
Just finished a short expedition in Land's End...Now I have a new problem: There are just so many good spots to build at!!! :) I do need to ask though, are there any other mods out there that use Land's End that I should know about? Don't want to do all sorts of building and then find out I picked the same spot as another modder and have to destroy all my work...That would suck.

Ah, Definitely going to do another search through New Lands then. Didn't realize that was how it worked :)
-
True, I would enjoy that myself to be honest. I was assuming that any space I didn't use (Like if I used Land's End I'd have tons of empty space) would just cause the place to lag since it would still be loading the whole thing...Guessing I was mistaken? Think I'll have a second look at Land's End, was quite impressed with that one...
-
...Anyone able to tell me how big one cell of the world is? I was wandering through the list of world spaces in the CS and happened to zoom out while I had an empty cell loaded into the view window (just ground and a tiny bit of water) and that size actually looked plenty big enough for what I have planned...but I'm not sure if I was actually seeing one cell or if I was seeing parts of several cells...
-
I think this plan is screwed. All the nice worlds seem to be either already in use or too big/small for my needs. 27 pages of New Lands and nothing usable jumped out at me...and it's not like I'm being that picky!
-
Checked out Land's End, is a beautiful land though way, way to big for my needs. Hopefully something in New Lands will be better sized...Can't believe I missed an entire category...
-
I could have sworn I'd seen something like this a while back since I can't find anything I'm making a request... I'm looking for a world space, nothing to crazy, just land and water waiting to be built on. I'm truly surprised there aren't some among the modder resources. And please, don't say 'build my own', I tried. Landscaping is apparently beyond me even with the tutorials to help...And if there is one and I missed it then I'm sorry, I searched the nexus under every word I could think of.
-
Released the first version onto the Nexus...hopefully it works.
-
Ok, done with the books...just got to figure out how to pack it up for upload now I guess...
-
About half done with the recovering, thinking I might make the Elder Scrolls collection a separate thing in case people don't want the other books I plan to add...
-
True, especially since a chest doesn't really fit in the bookstore nicely. Currently I'm using a book as my container, fits the area without taking up a ton of space.
-
No worries Striker, like I said, I wasn't sure which way you meant that. It could have gone either way :) It is a good idea though and really, what's one more book added to the pile? Managed to figure out container creation last night and create a spot to place all my books (Much nicer then having them piled on the floor of First Edition) Hopefully the Recovering won't take too long since I only have to change the mesh/texture and icon rather then recreate every book...that would have been horrible :)
-
Found about a dozen book covers that I like between the 2 resources I found. Now begins the oh so fun task of recovering all these books...:D
-
Ok, Finally found some, there are A LOT of modder resources around here! This should be interesting...
-
Could you perhaps direct me to one of these book cover resources? Did a search and could not find any. Found the Book Jacket's mods, but that won't really help...:)
-
Can't decide if that is supposed to be an insult of my lack of modding skills or not...Not that important.
-
If it wasn't for the fact that I'm using a texture and icon from other mods I might try turning this growing collection into a mod. Though somehow I expect most people are working with Skyrim now and so Oblivion mods won't be as interesting anyway... Did discover that I don't actually need the Oblivion Book Creator which helps speed the process. Also found the Imperial Library website so I don't have to copy into word to fix things before moving to the CS. It's become a nice fast 3 step process :D
