  1. Rivet City doesn't crash for me when I just walk around (well not often anyways) but it always crashes when I save somewhere between the riverboat and rivet city. Not much you can do about it, the engine just sucks.
  2. Integrated graphics are usually not really great. You might have two video cards, one integrated and one for gaming. Maybe your previous Skyrim version switched to the gaming video card and the anthology version does not. Either way, the anthology version of Skyrim is the same as Skyrim retail + latest patches + all DLC
  3. So far, Steam has lived up to their promise of providing a stable gaming environment for years. A friend of mine has a lot of Steam problems, the program takes over a minute to start after boot, so she uses an unofficial (I think) patch to play Skyrim without Steam running. Me, I just use Steam in offline mode, even when I don't have an internet connection, Skyrim still works. As long as you have it installed and working it doesn't really matter if Steam goes offline or shuts down.
  4. Check out this page to find forts that you like and don't respawn. Make sure to check the page for the fort to make sure there aren't any quests or storylines. Almost all quests have radiant quests though. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Skyrim-Places-Safe
  5. You could check if the Windows power plan is set to performance like it should be. You can also try to overclock your cards by just 1% or 2% to see if this prevents the driver from scaling back the clock speed of the cards. And what PSU do you have?
  6. The mod UnlimitedBookshelves is no longer supported, it can cause many problems so I would advise to remove it.
  7. Try to run LOOT, it sorts better than BOSS and will probably help a lot.
  8. You really shouldn't mess around with the load order yourself, unless you know what you're doing. BOSS is correct 99% of the time, recent versions always work as expected.
  9. Can recommend the Morrowind Graphics overhaul. It's a single package that gives you Skyrim-tier graphics on Morrowind. It also includes the unofficial patches and some other common fixes. Installation is very easy and the result is amazing, just search Youtube for Morrowind graphics overhaul and prepare to be blown away. It's the only mod (well actually it's a compilaton of many mods) I'm currenlty using besides the balmora balcony house.
  10. I was expecting the usual complaints about Skyrim being dumbed down but I never thought about it this way. And you are right, there are plenty of evil quests, doesn't bother me though
  11. Already added the SKSE.ini file, judging from the documentation the defaults are the same as vanilla Skyrim: [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB= <default heap initial allocation size in megabytes, vanilla size is 512> ScrapHeapSizeMB= <scrap heap size in megabytes, vanilla size is 256>I must say, after adding this tweak and installing RealVision ENB my game hasn't crashed once. It's quite nice to play for over 25 hours without a single glitch, CTD or quest bug. I've read your modding hints and these are my thoughts: - You are right about maxed VRAM not crashing Skyrim. I forgot my old card had 1GB VRAM and was maxed out all the time. The game didn't crash though, but it resulted in lots of stuttering. - I'm not really a fan of mod tools myself. Installing mods by hand is not that difficult, most mods can be installed by simply extracting the contents of a zip file to the Skyrim\Data directory. One notable exception for me was SMIM. I managed to install it by checking the mod manager xml file and walking through all the directories manually (about 30 minutes of work). - About saves: I never reload a game. If I want to reload, I exit Skyrim to desktop and start it fresh. When you reload a save you'll sometimes notice strange things like doors that should be closed or the wrong type of music playing, which is for me an indication that loading a save does not reset all world data. There is an interesting discussion about saving here: http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3998-quicksavingquickloading-in-skyrim/ - Installing the game on an SSD is the best upgrade you can get. My game loads in about ten seconds and the SSD also reduces stuttering. I've completely disabled the Windows pagefile BTW, my system has 16GB RAM and a I never needed a pagefile.
  12. Thanks, Lord Garon, you certainly seem to have a lot of knowledge about the engine of Skyrim. I'll try out Stable uGridsToLoad. But judging from the comments it seems to vary a lot by random chance.
  13. At the speed you're going, stuttering is expected. However, playing normally, e.g. at regular run or walk speeds the game stutters too for me. But I managed to fix stuttering almost completely by using the stutter remover mod. Because the stutter mod does not fix it for you it might be one of the mods you're using. I don't run an ENB or a custom Pipboy like you do, so it might be related to that.
  14. Looks pretty nice, do you also have a map picture? BTW, make sure to clean your mod, it's the one thing that you should do before releasing the mod.
  15. What files did you install? An ENB does not overwrite any existing files (in most cases) so you could simply look at the files you installed and delete those.
  16. Do you use an ENB preset (like RealVision) or only an ENB withoud any preset? Because some ENB presets already include ENBoost. And you can't disable ENB like a mod, because it's not a plugin file. You can remove the ENB by deleting d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe from your Skyrim directory.
  17. Ok, this is a bit of a technical question. The memory patch from Sheson should be included into SKSE 1.7.1 according to the SKSE changelog found here: http://skse.silverlock.org/skse_whatsnew.txt The poster in this thread seems to gain massive improvements from the memory patch when increasing uGrids. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1340369-skyrim-memory-patch-fixing-ils-ugrids-ctd-freezes-for-real/?p=11305085 My results are, however, very different. My game is stable at uGrids=5, about one crash every 20 hours. Using uGrids=7 or even higher results in lots of of CTDs. Looking at the post above it seems the patch of Sheson should be able to fix most of these problems, a least for certain configs. I cannot reproduce the results as posted above, not even get a stable uGrids=7. So my question is, is the patch included in SKSE the same as Sheson's patch? Because I don't have any improvements using the latest SKSE and skse.ini with DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768. My system is a quad core 4Ghz, GTX 760 2GB, 16 GB system RAM. I'm running a handful of mods, but disabling these mods does not improve stability at uGrids settings above 5. Yes, I know high uGrids settings can cause other problems but that's not the point of my post. Potential solutions I've thought of: - VRAM is too low, my card has 2GB. Don't think this is the problem because I get a CTD with uGrids=7, even when my VRAM is about 1700 MB used and nowhere near its max. - SKSE patch is different from Sheson patch - The results from the poster are no longer possible with the latest patches and SKSE. - Some other mysterious thing
  18. If you install BOSS, the newest version, it automatically gets the latest masterlist. I would reinstall BOSS (you won't lose any mods or settings when you do this) because the problems described here are typical for running the game without sorting the mods first.
  19. You should run a program called BOSS which will put your mods in the correct order. After BOSS has run you're mods are automatically sorted. You should then look at what BOSS outputs because it can warn you against many possible conflicts which result in crashes.
  20. Thanks for "contact us" tip, might be a good option. PayPal offers anonymous payment through IPN, instant payment which allows you to redirect payments to PayPal and the site only sees whether a payment succeeds or not. But maybe that's not used on the Nexus.
  21. This message indicates a problem with Games for Windows Live. Since this program is no longer developed or updated by Microsoft you're better of not using it. To fix the error, follow these simple steps: 1. Download FOMM, the Fallout mod manager 2. Just click OK on any questions when the mod managers starts up 3. Open the menu -> Go to Tools -> Install tweaker -> Enable Use fake xlive.dll 4. Close mod manager, play Fallout 3, come back and thank me
  22. The thing I like most about the underground hideout is how it appeals to me as a completionist. There is literaly space for every (unique) item and it can be automatically placed and stacked for you in the vault, the item sorters are the best I've ever seen in a mod.
  23. I would like to update my account to premium but I'd rather not provide personal details, like my real name, street and country. I've been the scammed before on the internet and unless I'm ordering something that needs to be shipped to my home I avoid entering any personal details. It's not that I don't trust the Nexus but sites get hacked and info gets stolen, so information I don't provide can't leak. So, is it possible to update to lifetime premium without entering real billing information? Or do you provide bitcoin payments for example?
  24. I never found New Vegas easy and I consider my self a pretty experienced player. However, difficulty settings in Bethesda games like Oblivion, Fallout and Skyrim control only how much damage you do versus how much damage you receive. Playing on very hard means you might have to shoot a raider in the head at point blank five times in a row with a .44 Magnum before he falls, which is totally unrealistic. There is yet another problem, followers are not bound by those rules. Veronica can punch everything to pieces and no matter what difficulty settings you apply, the rules for followers stay the same, i.e. they are no affected by the difficulty setting. The game gets harder though, if you think it's too easy go north from Goodsprings and face either swarms of cazadors, scorpions or deathclaws. Things that will kill you in one hit on very hard. Once you progress in the storyline you have to make enemies and making enemies means hit squads with three or four fully armed goons taking shots at you at the same time from 50 meters away.
