I am also having this problem. Black screen, nothing but seagull sounds and boat sounds. Tried with two different characters and no luck - very frustrating.

Estrogen, my bad. Got a little mixed up. But a small mix-up in terminology isn't a reason to just ignore my point. You know picking apart small details and avoiding the actual point is a sign that you can't actually come up with a refuting point? I'm not saying all women did was raise children, but, yeah, it was the main thing. They were the only ones who could breast feed, so, it would make sense that a large part of their biology would be devoted to making that possible. Also, yes, it is true - the Y chromosome HAS been losing genes. Researches say that it could be gone in the next millennia. Seriously, just google it. My post wasn't about men being "superior beings". It was about one fact, that men are built different, and physically ARE stronger, as far as the majority of people. This has been the case for many years. Why you're bringing this "SOCIETY WASNT BUILT PURELY ON MUSCLE" s***, I don't know - because that wasn't what my post was about at all. If you seriously believe that from a physical stand-point, the female body is at the same level as the male body in terms of strength or stature, then you're very misled.

I would like to point out that in my ancestors culture (the celts) women were just as bad ass as the men. Their three main war deities were goddesses. There was a traditional of females teaching the men how to fight. Society was matriarchal, lineage passed through the mother. Several of the most notable celtic warriors were women - Boudicca for instance, and the Pirate Queen Grainne. Not related to the celts, but in ancient sumeria, the death god was female... and the sun deity in japan (which is usually male elsewhere), was female. So lets stop the women are the weaker sex nonsense. How do the deities and beliefs of your culture prove that women are "as strong as men"? It's a fact, a physical fact that can not be disproven, and it's true for most mammals. Why does an elephant become aggressive when he enters musk? Because testosterone is being produced in excess. The same thing occurs within stags. Testosterone effects many male traits - body hair, muscle tone and growth. It also effects aggression. You know what produces the most testosterone on a living being? The testicles. On the other hand, hormones effect things like breast growth, and when a woman hits menopause, or experiences menstration, the hormone levels produced by the uterus change - altering body fat, emotions, and other physical factors. Women don't grow the way men do, it's a fact that's been hard-wired in since our caveman days, when women would focus on breast feeding and rearing children, and men would gather, hunt, and protect what was seen as "vital resources". As such, women had no need to develop huge forms of muscles. Without a ton of testosterone, a woman STILL can't get close to what a man can get to in muscle mass. Physically, the majority of woman are weaker than men. Female bodies don' have the strength of male bodies. Throwing around that your culture revered women as beings of power is like saying we should worship certain animals such as cows and cats as being stronger than they actually are, simply because the Egyptians thought they represented an ideal, or power, or unseen force. It's culture, not actuality. Physically, a woman is weaker than a man because they don't produce even close to the amount of testosterone. Not to mention women are often smaller; hands, feet, height, etc. He was pointing out the physical, and it's true; our science and history back it up. Women are the (physically) weaker sex.

Romeo makes a very good point. Elves are supposed to look alien to us. It's taking racial perceptions to the extreme. Also, Alka, there have been half-races in TES before. But as I recall, the offspring take their physical properties from their mother. So if you had an elf woman and a Nord man, the child would come out looking like an elf.

You forgot the part where horses are also phallic symbols. Now, put that into the Skyrim world. Your woman - or man, spends miles riding one.

Not to mention he seeks to help other dragons overcome their inherent nature to dominate and control. He's an asset, and for those who might be paranoid about his intentions, remember... he had hundreds of years with no Dragonborn around, why would he wait til you're around to do anything? At least the Grey Beards seemed to have more of an interest in your personal advancement and growth. To me, it felt like the Blades cared only about killing dragons, which is exactly why the Grey Beards don't seem to like them. If they had their way, all dragons would be damned for the sins of the past, and would die.

The Thalmor seem to favor extending the Skyrim civil war for as long as possible, since men fighting among themselves would make cleanup easy, once the two forces have worn each other out in manpower, resources and morale. To an extent, they "support" Ulfric, as he is the very heart of the rebellion. They do not, however, desire a full Stormcloak victory. The mistake the Empire made was underestimating the Thalmor, which they have learned from. I did not support Ulfric, though. He's too driven by emotions, which has already caused him to be easily manipulated for the wills of the Thalmor before. He also has a very aggressive stance towards any non-Nord race within Skyrim. The men he leads often come off as little more than savages, calling for the blood of anyone, Nord or otherwise, who won't actively support their cause. I always felt that the best thing was to go with the Empire. The Stormcloaks won't result in a strong government, and driving the Empire out is only further dividing the power of men, and playing into the Thalmor's hands. I just wish Ulfric didn't come off as a guy using the example of Talos worship being banned for the sake of becoming King of Skyrim. The people of the Empire you meet are all fairly reasonable. I wish you could get rid of Ulfric, and begin work towards facing the real threat - the Thalmor.

Most honest, thought-provoking post in this thread. Listen to your heart, folks; don't we all wish to live in a world with girl parts all the time?

Never. Like I'd choose some old-lady who refuses to talk to me if I don't do what she says over Philosopher dragon bro and the kind old men with booming voices? What I don't get is that the Blades were originally supposed to serve me, the Dovahkin, the dragonborn. They are quick to take credit for putting you down the path to defeating Alduin and getting the Stormcloaks and Empire to set up a truce, but, the moment I want them to, with good reason, forget about a dragon, they pull this whiny, childish maneuver of "DO WHAT I SAY OR I WONT SPEAK WITH YOU." So know what I did? I left Paarthurnax alone, went into console and typed, "setstage mqpaarthurnax 100". I got to work with the blades (not worth it), and keep my Grey beard and Old Sage Dragon bros.

Well, in general, there are few Dragonborn mentioned. Lost records, etc. Even the Grey Beards mention that it's possible for a Dragonborn to just fade away with time, should they fail to leave an impact. Plus, for years, there were no Dragons, let alone a dragonborn - most people simply adopted the "other" meaning of Dragonborn, which were the descendants of that Emperor who had shared the blood of a Dragon, or something... Dragonborn was also used for some time as a generic term for "hero". I think, statistically, it might be a bit more likely to have a male Dragonborn. I've seen enough people get upset over the "strong Nord women" thing in Whiterun, so I don't think it would have been very relateable for the lore or the player for the game to praise some amazing female hero. Dragonborn or not, it's not entirely realistic. The lore of TES is weird enough with Daedric Princes who are actually female, but referred to still as Princes. However, beyond the whole "men of legends" s***, men and women both are very prevalent in the armies of Skyrim. Half the Thalmor you meet are women, and the Thalmor are supposed to be one of the most powerful forces in Tamriel, at least when it comes to mortals. Physically, woman are weaker. Women's bodies are actually built pretty well in the legs and thighs, but still, physically, our muscles don't work the way a the muscles on a man do. Our bodies produce hormones, while a man produces testosterone. It's the same for pretty much every living thing on Earth, so the excuse that "because it's fantasy," doesn't really work. An Orc woman might beat out a human, regardless of gender, but an orc man is even stronger. It's a physical thing; women were built to nurture, men to protect his resources - women, children, etc. That's how it worked at the very start of humanity, and hell, we haven't moved very far off. My complaint about Skyrim was that, instead of actually working out "equality of women," they simply made the women more and more like men. I guess it's more of an observation than a complaint, however. Why make such a big deal? There's no need to cry "DA GAME INDUSTRY IS SEXIST," especially not with Skyrim. There are plenty of worse, and more obvious offenders. Edit: Stump, actually, the Y chromosome has slowly been decreasing in birth rates, which means more and more girls are being born. Some actually blame this on how dependent our diets are on foods modified with hormones. I think the current state of the population is 55.6% females? But that may be way off.

Have you tried anything listed here? https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4595-wexn-6831 I'd recommend trying to rename your ClientRegistry.blob thing first -
NV Crashes after a Mod is removed
likeitsillegal replied to Moonman653's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
What do you mean you can't load any save? Do you mean it crashes? If so, my guess is that the save may be corrupted. -

I think MoMod adds more creatures, right? I don't use it, so I don't know for certain, but it may be the cause of these "phantom mosquitoes". AWOP also adds new enemies, and a lot of difficulty, so if it's your first time with the game, I'd recommend turning that off until you're a little leveled. I doubt that's the reason for it crashing, the RAM, that is. Have you tried turning off all your mods and seeing how long, if at all, it takes the game to crash? If you find the vanilla game works well, try turning your mods back on one at a time. My guess is something is conflicting. I don't think WME and FOOK typically work together - but there's a compatibility patch. If you don't have the compatibility patch, try downloading it here. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37576 -

The attacks at Goodsprings Cemetary are probably Bloatflies... they can hit you from pretty far. Anyways, I'd be a little careful about using Fellout. It actually tends to conflict with a lot of other "atmospheric" mods, I'd guess you'd say. Hah, you went a little crazy with the mods on your first day? -
Body/face color mismatch
likeitsillegal replied to Thasic's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Do you mean severe differences? Or just off-shades between the head and body? Like the body will be just a little darker than the head, but noticably so? If that's the case, this is an issue with a few mods themselves. -
So here's an update. After removing all mods, I attempted installing two fomod packets. One was a body replacer and a face pack. When I did this, the game immediately crashed, like always. I deleted those, and without using FOMM at all, I manually installed the same body replacer, as well as a few other mods. The game worked fine, and I was able to play. So then I used FOMM to toggle Archive Invalidation, and booted through it using the NVSE option. I had no packets activated, and had not installed anything with the Packet manager. It still worked. So, my guess is that something is wrong with my Packet Manager, or Fomod, maybe? Any fixes? Also, I've had 3 Ojo Bueno files (inactive) in my packet manager for weeks. However, trying to delete them gives me an error that crashes FOMM. It's a crash that seems common among FOMM users, however.

I just downloaded FOOK, and had to redownload many of my mods. So, they should all be up to date. The first time I reinstalled, I simply cleared out the Fallout New Vegas folder. The second time I did, I deleted all the save, the Prefs, the entire New Vegas folder, as well as some registry entries pertaining to New Vegas, After I had done this, without installing any mods the game at least loaded (although I did not attempt to start a new game). I installed about 8 of my old mods that had worked fine together before my attempted install of FOOK. This time, I did not try to install FOOK along with them - but I still had the same issue. I even did a completely clean install of FOMM.

So, last night, I got a problem. FONV has always worked pretty well for me. I've always had plenty of mods, and while sometimes I got a start-up crash from a few conflicting, I could always fix the issue, change load order, etc. Anyways, last night I decided to attempt to install FOOK. I went with manual installation, and immediately, my game began to crash. So I removed the mod, installed it automatically through FOMM, following the Readme. Same thing happened, so I went through and deleted every resource from FOOK from my data folder. But this did not fix the issue. I tested all my mods, and the only way to keep from immediately crashing once the game came up was to turn off all mods - although once I attempted to load a save, it would immediately crash to desktop again. I uninstalled FOMM, deleted all mods, and had the same issue. Eventually, I reinstalled New Vegas. I installed some of my old mods, and when the game worked, decided to give FOOK another try. I followed the Readme exactly, and again, it caused crashes. Removing/turning it off also did not fix the issue. So, I reinstalled the first time. I got rid of my saves, everything related to Fallout New Vegas and FOMM. It was a completely clean install. The game started fine, so I decided to try reinstalling my mods which had always worked together in the past. Cinematech, Dynavision, Electro-City, UHNV, to name a few. Set up the load order perfectly, and this time around, left FOOK completely alone. But, now I can't even play. Trying to boot the game causes it to immediately crash to Desktop, with Win7 giving a generic error about the App crashing. Have no idea what's causing it. Even turning off my mods isn't working now. I've tried System Restores, I've tried clearing out possible registry entries. I have NO idea what's causing the crashes, and would really like some help. Fallout 3 works fine, and it has mods as well. What the hell went wrong? Is their any way to find out?

Make sure the copy is named "Fallout.ini". You may have saved the copy as a notepad document. Just change the extension to .ini.
