  1. i was thinking would it be possible to make a fallout NV mod that basically adds a remote interface for a local winamp install. eg allowing you to run winamp in the background but controll the basic functions via the pipboy so you dont have to alt tab back and forth or mess around with configuring custom radio stations

This is something i have wanted to see for a long time ever since fallout 3 when i was first treated to the horrible melee stealth kills EG poking the enemy in the butt from a crouching position and watching them intagib across the wasteland all from a butterknife. what i am looking for is a skyrim style throat cutting animation that plays in vats when you sucessfully kill an oponant from a stealthed state using a knife or sword. kinda like this

Huge Fail on the search engine's part it has come to my attention that it can only match your string with the title of the file while ignoring the description of the file alltogether. and with modders giving filenames like 5 new weapons or 6 armors you can clearly see how resources can be omitted dispite being relivant acording to the description of the file. i have already voiced my concern regarding the lack of an advanced search feature and all i got back was a reply saying that it was too much work. i think that when you host a file server for game mods the community is entitled to be able to perform a legitimate and acurate search of the database not just a quick wing it based on title strings.

I am looking for a quick dirty port of Vitor98's version of the Personal vertibird mod for use in New Vegas. it was one of the most unique and awesome mods ever created but nothing similar exists for NV Yet. if this is not possible i am looking for something that functions in a similar fashion.   7. ok anyone who uses firing range or arena maps in fallout3 knows how quickly the areas become filled to the brim with boddies. so basically make a flamer that lets you incinerate corpses (delete them from the game dont turn them into ash piles thats just as bad..... unless the pile deletes it'sself in a minute or two) but yeah i am amaized noone has ever created a corpse cleanup utility for the trigger happy players who have the bad habit of letting raiders follow them home and than being unable to get the bodies out of their house.
  8. run fallout 3 in a window but set the resolution to the same resolution as your monitor than alt tab between fallout3 and notepad. it is a pain in the but but it works and doesent crash like when you do it in full screen
  9. ...... what guns are you using and what is your small guns skill level. my build can one shot anything in the game execpt goul reavers and behemoths and that is without mods :P if you need a mod to make headshots work your playing the game wrong. also supermutants do have thick skulls (part of their mutation i guess) otherwise they would be open to the possiblity of sitting down with you and the wastelander population and discussing their differences over a cup of tea. robots may have heads but if a designer was building a combat mech i doubt he would place all the critical systems in such a obvious target raiders..... well i hate to break it to you but if your using a pistol or somthing that uses 5-10 mm ammo i doubt it could punch through a helmet. actually in real life small arms have difficulty penetrating human skulls unless you are at a reasionably close range or using special caliber / high velocity ammo. stopping power and accuracy drop off really fast. so in all the game is actually more realistic than most of the point at head and click games out there. but if your having problems i suggest the arms dealer mod. it adds some modern guns to the game including a wide array of sniper rifles specifically designed for those hard to kill baddies. though if you are trying for a sniper build and you have good range on the target just crouch before firing if you have a bad stealth the distance will make the chances of detection minimal and you get a free cheap shot crit
  10. i think he is asking for a method of changing his apperance after he has already made a character. if that is the case just download one of the hundreds of player home mods that have facial reconstruction kits. also if you just want to use hair wadsworth the robo butler in the player home in megaton/tenpenny can give you free haircuts but hidden sanctum http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8180 and kor's vault http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1859 are two stable home mods with facial reconstruction kits inside. i have not yet come across a conflict with any of my other mods so they are safe to install.
  11. i can understand the hight limit applying to pics and text but clear text sigs should be exempt from the width limit as text is automatically formatted based on the resolution and the size of the forum and cant be controlled without extreamly anal application of returns/line breaks in addition i like the idea of wraping sigs in a spoiler tag but we should at least be able to format the tag so it doesent say SPOILER it is kinda .......... an unpleasant name for a collapsable tag for example [spoiler name=string] it would probibally require a bit of a code rewrite on the forum but it is feasable
  12. ok say you accidently shoot someone your not supposed to and their entire faction aggros you. is this a perminant problem requiring a game reload or can you run away and they will forget you and turn nutral if you leave them alone long enough. if there is no aggro falloff is there a mod that resets aggroed entities to nutral after x number of hours
  13. i would love to test this when it comes out. lord knows i have enough mods installed that i can put this through the cross compatability ringer. but primarially i will see if it works with calibr xcalibr and the apocalypse armory. i dont know much about modding so any issues ill probibally just send dumps and error logs from fomm
  14. i have seen a healing shiv and a healing gun but at the moment any weapon class item causes the friendly to turn hostile when you heal them. can someone please make something that can be used to heal allies without agro. basically a item that uses stim packs as ammo and wont piss people off when you heal them

  16. try this i wrote it my self after inspecting the add's html source save this as a extensionless file called hosts and copy it into C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ and the hosts file is written in clear text so you know it isn't a virus i am sending. :) ftp://[email protected]/hosts but basically it pervents your computer from even communicating with the add server by null routing the domain name aside from this why are you still with your broadband company there are a lot of other companies that dont have broadband limits. there are also companies that do have exessive usage limits but dont enforce the caps unless your overages are causing global issues with their system

  19. for a bunch of reasons this will not happen but i really dont see why copyright cant be bent slightly to allow the fallout 3 worldspace and quests/dlc to be ported to new vagas mabe use GTS to join the two worldspaces. kinda like what they did in pokemon gold and silver where the map from the red and blue was still there and you got access to it later once you beat the first worldspace ((yes i used pokemon as a reference and am ashamed but this is the only instance i can think of where a map from a prequel was added to the sequel))
  20. and this is why i dont buy bethesda games untill about a year after they come out because by than there is a nice shiny eddition with all the dlc built in :) :whistling: NM I figured it out, but for those who don't know - vista location is C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\ :thumbsup: if your lazey and dont like typing long filepaths "%appdata%\local\microsoft\xlive\dlc" works too if you are absolutly extreamly lazy open a command prompt and type linkd "%appdata%\local\microsoft\xlive\dlc" "C:\users\yourname\desktop\DLC Junction" now you have mounted a folder on your desktop :)
  21. actually i have been wanting this too. but personally i have a easy simply and dirty idea for such a mod that is simple and completely transparant. of course if you want to be able to lock any door you would need a skill for relocking and the dialogue box needed to interface with door would get old fast at least in my opinion. the simple and transparant method would to simply automatically lock any door or terminal to which the user has a key\passcode when he closes said door, this is completely transparant because it keeps the ghoul from chasing you and at the same time the player wont really notice the lock because !!da da da daaaa!! he has a key /!!! see the gate at the temple of the union it will automatically relock if the player leaves it alone for long enough but you can open it at any time with the key. or course time delay locking on things like the tenpenny tower gate and temple of the union allow things to follow you. :P

  23. no o ne is reading my post double triple quadruple the ads i don't care if they don't interfere with the site. invasive advertising is my problem so please read and make educated statements. as i said make the video ads pop up in a second window that still gets the ad played and the site still makes money but it wont f*** with the downloads actually i don't need add block spy bot points like 90% of advertising domains to 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file though what would make this site more profitable would be a little Firefox addon that automatically clicks on all of the add links on a page but doesn't actually open the pages so that the little pay per click counter keeps ticking but no one is bothered by the adds
  24. i don't mind adds and i don't care if i get 20 pop up windows the new un skipable 45 second flash video is the problem. the site gets paid for every add that gets shown forcing a person to watch a 45 second add for each file is wrong. most sites that implement these adds will have a cool down period that only shows you one add every hour or so. say i want to download a decent number of mods you can see how the timers add up. the flash advertisements that have always been on the download page were sufficient. this is not morally acceptable and you have no right to defend poorly implemented advertising that interferes with the sited basic functions i could under stand your post if i was saying to abolish advertising altogether. but all i am asking is for the flash video to pop up in a second window and not interfere with downloading. the add still gets played and the site still gets their 2 cents and everyone is happy besides i am giving the site the option to change their policy the formatting of the download server is rather simple and figuring out the download link manually is fairly easy if you know what the file extension is so if i get pissed off enough i can easily skip the adds altogether just by guessing the DDL but opening the adds in a second window implementing a global cool down so that users downloading multiple files do not have to watch the same thing over and over again reverting to normal flash ads on the mirror page but making the add space larger and using more than one basic flash add there are a number of ways to make the site more efficient and still keep the advertising partners happy. my only issue is the fact that a 10 second delay has turned into a 45 second delay with no chance of paroll, there are better and more efficient advertising methods that do not interfere with downloading
