  1. I for one like the darkness to the game's story. Taken to almost nothing to rise to hero. How is that not escapism? And coming from the FPS realm of Half-Life, Doom, Wolfenstein, etc this fits what I have always liked. If everything was so cheerful and happy, for me, would not be an escape, but a nightmare. I like a little realism in my escape. As for the achievment pop-ups, didn't like them either, but once you have them they do not come back. ;) And I have on occasion turned off the music just to play it without a movie type feel. I have never turned on the plot helpers in any game, as has been said, can be an annoyance. Oh, and little off topic, Texas justed got theirs handed to them by Oklahoma. Maybe the Longhorns will be knocked out of the top 25 for the first time in...ever? How's that for a little escapism from a granduate from a Big 12 North school.
  2. I think the Howe's and Loren's get a bad rap due to the actions of one member of the family. In Awakening Natahaniel expands on the Howe's, and for the Loren's situation I get the impression that Mama Cousland and Lady Landra may even be childhood friends, and Papa Cousland taking Dairren under his wing to train him gives me the impression that they both do not want to persecute the entire family due to the actions of one man. This may also be why they become an easy target for Loghain and Rendon. The Cousland willingness to leave the past in the past (Loren family, trips to Orlais, etc) makes them easy prey for a pair that are trying to relive their former glory, and a blight that gives them opportunity to exploit it. In the case of Dairren, MC's motivation might be twofold; one for getting her daughter married and having grandkids, but the second to help out an old friend who's name has been drug through the mud and family diminished.
  3. The rod of fire is in the mage origin. To help Jowan steal his phylactery, you have to get a rod of fire to make that quest continue. After you escort Duncan back to his room talk to Jowan, you can either betray him and set him up for a fall, or befriend him. Either way you have to get the RoF from Owain in the stockroom, but he tells you first must have a senior enchanter sign a permission form before he will release it to you.
  4. She mentions the same thing about Flemeth being a real threat, blah, blah. However, to the Orlesian warden when you ask Morrigan if Flemeth was behind the blight, Morrigan replies she does not know. At the end of that conversation, you have two options, let her leave, or attack her. I did attack and posted a picture called The Hunt is Over. Morrigan then falls into the mirror, but you are left with the question of is she dead, or just seriously wounded?
  5. It's based on the game. Lady Landra is introduced to you as Bann Loren's wife, and you have the option of asking her if she was drunk. And as a male you can ask her about hitting on you at the same ball you mother mentions. Dairren is then introduced by Landra as her son.
  6. Very well. I will only say that I came across an ending I did not expect. I was able to do what a lot of people have wanted to do to her. :whistling:
  7. Yeah, no sweat. After you mentioned it earlier, during a commercial on one of our fav shows, I checked the scene and that's what I found. I was surprised when I did not find it in the followers folder for him, so I thought maybe random encounters, and there it was. Kind of like the epilogue when I was testing Wynne, just popped up out of nowhere that I would have expected. That also made me think about Anora in response to the OP's question, and she has three utc's as well. However, all use the hf_den510_anora morph, so the scenes in question are indeed bink movies, and not another case of a unmodded utc file sitting out there using the original mor file.
  8. DW, that would make sense. In most scenes the tag for the npc is OWNER. However, and this goes back to my experience with the Elven Wynne, they use a different utc for Zevran, ran401cr_zevran, and in that scene it's tagged specifically for that utc. You can find both the cutscene and utc file under the Random Encounters folder in the palette window.
  9. My game must have a bug then because I see my Zev morph in that entire scene. Yea bugs! :whistling: Same here, my modded Zev shows up every time. Even the T7 retint armors the crows wear are the black-n-gold tint package.
  10. Ok, so far she has gotten through the tower. At the very beginning, when you meet Adrianne, you tell her that Morrigan was involved with the death of the Arch Demon, and her involvement requires investigation. Nothing else to report so far. Should have something later tonight.
  11. Under advice of council I decline to comment at this time. :whistling:
  12. That's actually a pretty generic look. With Bidelle's cosmetics and PT's Vibrant colors this could be recreated with the bald preset with very little slider work done. If you are wanting the scars, there are a few mods that also add scars to the chargen. However, it should be a simple make with vanilla presets. Make the nostrils a little wider, bridge and tip a little wider, cheeks more gaunt, mouth a little wider and lips more full, and that's about it. Pretty basic. Here are the two mods I mentioned above: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=153 http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=473
  13. "You there, dwarf. You have little to fear from me." and that is for both genders. I also noticed the armies march to Denerim. Easy tell, none of the modded armors/robes/retints apply for the various characters.
  14. This should be doable. Leliana, as well as the other party members, do have soundsets for the combat sequences. I have never looked to see if they are seperate from dialogue, but should be possible. I know the violent SS for female human is the same voice actor that does Anora. Someone familiar with manipulating dialogue should be able to make this happen.
  15. My fiance is trying a new warden from Awakening, so I'll post what she finds out when she finishes it.
  16. For a DAZip to work properly, you will need to remove the other version first. Manual mods are different in that they are accessible in the override folder, and the individual files within can be manipulated. However, DAZip packages the files into one, so that it becomes an addin program similar to the DLC's. Installing one version of DT without deleting the other will cause a conflict. I am not sure that just enabling one and disabling another would be a viable option, so the safe bet would be to delete one version before installing the other.
  17. I think although a bann's son and not and arl's son he is. And you can tell from your parents they have different views on the matter. Bryce and Rendon ellude to talking about you before you show up. "See, Howe?" And you mother is obviously in favor of Dairren when you meet them in the courtyard. However, both ellude to wanting you to get hitched. They want more grandkids. ;)
  18. I have done this with a dwarf that spent the night, but imported midway through Origins. She mentions their son, and is upset at what she views as his betrayal for refusing her ritual. I was able to talk her down since she was at adore, and walked through the mirror with her. She mentions the same kind of speech that your son is in a safe place, but unlike the human that I played through the ritual with (with Leliana as mistress to the king  ) none of the "demon baby" speech came as an option with the dwarf.
  19. I think that would be a tough call. When you talk to him you find out he is your father's second in battle, and Bryce has taken him under his wing, so to speak, to train him into a proper knight. And although he is from a lesser house is still nobility. And your mother seems to be pushing her in that kind of direction. It would be a plausible scenario, but there is also the pushing of Thomas Howe in her direction as well from both Rendon and Bryce. Plus, in Awakening, if not married to Alistair, Nathaniel shows an interest there despite what has happened in the past. The Howe's and Cousland's are reputed to be close families until the blight, so whomever she would have been paired with (Thomas, Nathaniel, or Dairren) all would have satisfied the nobility standards elluded to here.
  20. Yeah, most of the scenes are not the bink movies, but there are a few. The very opening, the two battle scenes at Ostagar, the scene for Loghain adressing the banorn, the scene where Zevran is introduced by Arl Howe, the final battle scene with Riordan, and the coronation scene. There may be one or two that I missed, but those are the main ones. You aren't the first to wonder WTH, and I am sure you won't be the last either. ;)
  21. RB, good catch. I was assuming that he was using the file for the CC that the author had on the linked page for Edric which should be a mop. If it is not, then the author will need to fix that.
  22. Well, I have the face close. I want to mess with the skin textures a little, and make her mouth a little narrower. Her reference pics show a wider mouth, but in the game does not look quite right. alexbramos, do you want a mor file to replace Morrigan, a mop file for the CC for your own character, or both? I have been testing both, and using the hazel color for her eyes and not the yellow Morrigan eyes. EDIT: the first version is here: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1256 with mop, mor for Morrigan, and the mrh file for the toolset.
  23. Until the "prerecorded" .bnk finishes, THEN you'll get your custom NPCs when you talk to them there in the Throne Room. Kinda' funny... I know what you mean. The first time I played I was wondering why did he change from the armor I had on him to Cailan's, then right afterward change right back.. :teehee:
  24. Because the earlier scenes are bink movies that are not moddable. They are premade, and she will not be the only one that this occurs with. Any main character, Loghain, Zevran, Bann Teagan, amongst others in these scenes will show their vanilla version due to the type of file scene the game uses. Even at the coronation she and Alistair will revert to their vanilla versions due to the same issue. It's not something wrong with the mor file you have, just the type of scene the game plays for those particular scenes.
  25. You have several mods that have their own chargen.xml files. However, you can only have one chargen.xml in your override to make the CC work. Use something like this to get those down to just the one: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=971 This is causing the game to crash when you enter the CC. More Hairstyles, PT's Vibrant Colors, CC Extra T&T all for sure each come with their own chargen.xml, and they are conflicting. The file listed above will compile all of these into one chargen.xml and remove the others which will also remove the conflict.
