Skyrim just seems to have these VRAM bursts and it doesn't seem to matter how good your rig is. I also get low framerates in some outdoor areas and I have 12GB of DDR3 RAM and a brand new 2GB Radeon 270x video card. I just try to manage with every performance enhancer I can get my hands on. I also run Game Booster 3 from Advanced System Care to shut down Windows processes lagging the machine. 20 fps isn't actually too terrible. I was getting 8 fps while trying to go to some areas and had to actually uninstall Skyrim Flora Overhaul, which is really disappointing after spending $500 for a new video card and power supply.

So there's currently some controversy happening on the front page of the Nexus with the hot files of the month. Nerd of Prey's genius little protest mod Give Me Money For No Reason is the first file that pops up due to its popularity. The reason is simple. It features a rich beggar named Beth sitting on a Valve. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65034/? But some folks are upset it's usurping a year-long effort by prolific Italian modder MannyGT who released the epic Grey Cowl of Nocturnal earlier this month: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64651/? And fair enough. What is a monumental effort by MannyGT is being overshadowed by something that took a day. But Nerd of Prey's efforts also deserve exposure as he succinctly sums up what many people think about Steam's greedy Workshop adventure. And as he writes on his mod: Since I can see the point of both sides here it would nonetheless be a shame if MannyGT's mod (or other epic efforts) are missed simply because the "hot files" are some automated system generated decision. Perhaps Nexus could get somebody to highlight and promote top mods of the month (not just the most popular) the way that Hidden Gems does or YouTubers? After all, until this recent kerfuffle the front page of Nexus went 4-5 months without an update except for that automated Hot Files thing. Perhaps as a "service provider" for Workshop, The Dark One can hire somebody to blog about these mods?

I bought Skyrim, Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfires individually on Steam for $21.99 Canadian each (except heartfires was $5.49). That's $71.46. Today on Steam the entire Skyrim legendary edition is on sale for $14.95 Canadian. That's 79% off! Ugh...

My biggest problem with the idea is the modders getting shafted at 25%. Their efforts are worth far more than that. Steam and Bethesda owe much more than 25% to modders. Take my experience for instance: I purchased the vanilla game ($21.99) on Steam last year and played for a bit. Then I found the Nexus and started adding mods. Since so many mods required DLCs I bought Dawnguard ($21.99). After a little while longer I bought Dragonborn ($21.99). Earlier this week I finally bought the last DLC Hearthfires ($5.49) even though I care nothing WHATSOEVER about building houses but the mod Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade requires the DLC. That extra $49.47 of revenue was based on modded Skyrim.

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your holiday with your friends over this melodrama.

I doubt it. Bethesda knows modders are the debuggers and patchers for their horrid programming. Best games ever. Worst crashes ever.

The problem with paying for mods is the subjectivity of whether they're worth the money. In my opinion the biggest mods, Falskaar and Wyrmstooth, just aren't that great. I mean, yeah, they're awesome for FREE but I wouldn't pay for them. Actually, I thought Dragonborn kind of sucked and that was a DLC. Skyrim is an amazing game and we've all UNDERPAID for the thousands of hours we've put into it. Some of the the mods I've downloaded here are worth money to me personally. There are mods I used with less than 1,000 endorsements that I think are the top 10 mods of all-time. We obvious get a tremendous deal here on Nexus and that's why it's so important to thank mod authors for their hard work. If I had the kind of money where I could donate I would do it.

I've been noticing some script bloat in my save games on and off. Usually it's when I spend too long in one cell. If I leave the game and load the save game into script scalpel it can tell me anywhere from 4 to 6,000 scripts are running. When i change cells the scripts disappear. They're never the same script loops. First it was Chesko's Lanterns, then Blood textures, often it's critterspawn. It doesn't crash my game but I can tell it lags the scripts from my other mods because I can see how slow my followers react. I'm just wondering if this happens to everybody or if I should try and fix it somehow. One papyrus log was 72 MB. That's got to be a record. The crazy thing is if I change a cell then the active scripts stuck in a loop vanish and my lag is gone. That's why I kind of enjoy going into little caves and dungeons.

I was trying to fix the persistent neck gaps in Skyrim NPCs so I found this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45140/? After running the vanilla batch file my NPCs have discolored heads. The effect comes and goes but it never disappears completely. It looks like the mod author has disappeared. Anybody know how I can remove this bug? Screenshot:

I'm not being sarcastic when I ask: how do you even notice the fps drop? 30 is still quite fluid. I get framerates of about 10 in some areas, try living with that! Anyway, now for my advice: Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp Did you follow the recommended settings for this mod? Not doing it properly can result in low framerates. I should know, I had to uninstall it since I cannot run this mod on my system. Try optimizing that mod and then download this (SFO option): http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33582/? Have you tried HiAlgo Boost

Use NMM for downloading and installing mods, use Wrye Bash and Loot for sorting your mods, use TES5Edit for loading your mods and checking for errors. I know what you mean about NMM updates screwing up though. It happened to me before.

Your error script tells you at least 12 times that you do not have your Dragonborn DLC loaded. 1. Load your Dragonborn DLC or 2. Download the Dragonborn DLC from Steam or 3. Delete the mods that require the Dragonborn DLC

Sneak/archer here too. I've tried dozens of times to play a mage but I just can't understand how to do it, I find it too frustrating and I never get very high in levels.

Hi guys, I use the UNPB body with Killer Keo's skimp UNPB armor/clothes mod and the "Mature" texture pack for UNP. There's no neck seams on males but females under weight size 1 have a neck seam. I don't know why. Anybody know how to get seamless necks or suggest a body/skin pack that is seamless?
