  1. I play both oldrim and newrim and often think that overall oldrim is the bestrim. It isn't the mods: I'm not that modded. Nor the stability; both are very stable for me. (However in newrim I now have to exit game via taskmanager or else it inverts my desktop color scheme. Bestrim does not.) The main thing I've always hated about newrim was the seemingly higher and denser grass. I much prefer the sparser bestrim. The main thing I like about newrim is the distance I can see on my lowish powered, self-built PC back in 2015. I can see windmills spinning at distances I cannot in bestrim. However, with COT's Winter Edition (the way Skyrim was meant to be) It covers up much of the landscape so the load distances are less noticeable. COT looks stunning on Bestrim. I'm less impressed on newrim. About newrims better graphics and Godrays. It seems that the first thing one does with newrim is look for some weather/lighting mod anyway. MODs work on both, I even got the old UFO to work on newrim. But I can pretty much count on all mods working on Bestrim. It seems to me that both Bethseda and the modding community poured out their best effort on Oldrim/Bestrim. Their hearts and souls. I'm not convinced that that has yet been matched on SE/Newrim. Or that better mods have been developed to take advantage of SE/Newrim's supposed better performance. I keep being drawn back to Oldrim/Bestrim. Yet play both.
  2. Used AFT for the most part in SLE, when I used followers. Ported and tried it in SSE and it worked, for the most part. Main trouble was getting more than one follower. Had three at one point, but my first follower would then only walk. Anyway, IMO UFO is by far the best follower mod. And it comes with horses for followers...a great plus. Real horses, not the magically disappearing horses with death cries of CH and such. Just before switching to SSE I was using UFO with no followers: just using the UFO horses. Would throw in the horse tack and martingale and good to go, being able to switch from horse to horse.
  3. Yea, with that mod list I don't think your title should be "SSE Crash in Random Moments" but "Mods causing crash at random moment".
  4. Skyui might have been functional, but waiting for it is no reason to miss out on the hightly improved, most beautiful Skyrim that is SE. Mods are going up every day. Yes, I agree that we may need a new generation of modders specifically for SE, but the mods I'm using all seem to be working fine: Unofficial SE Patch Open Cities Frostfall/Camping Wet & Cold iNeed True Storms Realistic Water Two Treeslod (adds a bit more to the landscape) Whiterun Cabin and, yes, Sofia...who is thus far working properly (although I never used her much before). Already SE has sufficient mods for an immersion play. I think what is currently lacking (and I have not yet checked today) are the multiple follower mods. I demand that my followers (and I don't always use them) are not only able to ride horses but also fight from horseback. Sofia does not yet fight while mounted. And no, I'm not really interested in CH. And IMO of course, there are many mods that can properly be classified as junk mods. If one has hundreds of mods, many are certainly junk mods. Not interested is those. The game is gorgeous; better than my modded original. Of course everyone has their opinion. I think that a lot of complaints revolve not so much around SE but crappy PC's or whatnot, and operator foolishness. Otherwise, why does the game work okay for some and is a disaster for others? When SE came out it made the original obsolete.
  5. Okay, one doesn't even load and the other has low framerate. As for the framerate, I never really turned that on (and not sure I remember how) so just going by the seat of my pants, game is playing very well even with what I would call several higher performance mods (Open Cities, Frostfall/Camping, Wet & Cold, iNeed.) And running up my fort steps seemed even better, so I'm hoping that performance/frame rate has been improved. As for loading, I very recently had that problem, where my SE got stuck in a launching loop. It may have been my fault, when I tried an un-ported copy of Castle Strunmah, to see if it ran better in SE. Contacted Bethseda support but no solution. I finally fixed my launch problem by turning off launching as administrator...and I'm not sure how it got set for administrator. You might take a look at that. From googling my problem it appeared that some had a launch loop problem (or game already running notice) even with the original.
  6. Fair enough if you don't yet even wish to try SSE. But since they act as two separate games I still cannot see why simply installing SSE would mess-up the original. Is this the only thread with this complaint? And thus far in my SSE testing...trying to keep installing more and more mods to see the performance...my SSE seems very stable. The main SSE complaints I see center around, 1. the new visuals and 2. lack of familiar mods.
  7. Here's an example of SE's apparent superiority. I sort of adopted the Saxon Norman Fort mod. I installed it on SE to see what would happen (along with my Rorikstead Farmhouse mod). Both worked. But regarding the Saxon Norman Fort, in the original my little PC would often take a performance hit when riding up the steps to the gate (perhaps due to the fort's NPC guards and attacking bandit spawns that come with the mod.) But for the brief time I tested it on SE I ran up the steps with no problem. Now I want to try the notorious original Castle Strunmah (still the best looking house in the game), of which I tweaked in a mod. Basically everyone got a performance hit in the original game. I wonder how (or if) it plays in SE. BTW, although the Saxon Norman Fort looked even more beautiful in SE not everything was perfect, as some of the mods NPC's had black-face, apparently lacking a texture. I guess that is where the porting comes in. Then again, perhaps the apparent performance superiority of SE was all just my imagination with regard to the fort.
  8. Well, since we have TWO Skyrims now and can play either as the separate games they are, looking at my original with Vividian ENB and Vivid Weathers it just seems kind of cheesy or even cartoonish compared with SE, which seems to me to have much more gravitas. I thought the original great, even when using the outstanding RCRN and before that COT, as well as dabbling/testing lighting such as RLO and ELFX. Although great none compare with SE. Now, granted, I never went the full ENB thing so yea, perhaps SE doesn't compete - yet - with the top of the line ENB's and PC's. I'm only using a self-built budget AMD APU A8-7600 build...that's no dedicated graphics card, chip only. And I think the game(s) play great. With SE better. My little "chip" is playing SE with Open Cities, Frostfall/Camping, Wet & Cold and iNeed without a hiccup, as it did with the original. I've posted some screen shots involving pertinent topics here and at Bethesda. The original game is obsolete; SE is the present AND future. And we don't need mods "ported" over to SE. We need a new generation specifically for the greater potential of SE. So, in what way are your heavily modded originals far superior to SE? Are we speaking of graphics/look? Or just the amount of mods available? (Note: many mods are essentially junk mods that did not really have to have been made...my opinion, of course.) With your heavily modded games you obviously have the DLC's and got SE for free. Have you actually been playing it, or just going on reviews? How is SE lacking?
  9. I hope a new generation of modders come along specifically for SE. IMO "porting" isn't enough.
  10. My "why" is why you don't just go to SE and start a new life?
  11. Don't know what mod you installed or the cure, but if me I'd just get rid of the mod. I've always thought that the bow animations worked fine as is.
  12. Since SSE is in a different common/Skyrim folder than the original it is hard to see how SSE could mess-up your original game...unless you were "tweaking" further up in the system. You did not mention everything you did to the original...or SSE...but it sounds like you have messed-up both games. Not SSE's fault.
  13. Skyrim SE looks better out of the box right now. Looking at my modded original it now looks cheesy or cartoonish, albeit sharp. SE has more gravitas. Some pics with SE:
  14. Haven't yet noticed this, with Frostfall and other mods.
  15. Syrim SE is far and away better than the original, even modded.
  16. I've been thinking that it isn't simply a matter of existing mods being ported over to SE. I think new mods should be made specifically for the greater potential of SE. That may require a new generation of modders. If that doesn't happen, then we are all playing an essentially dead game.
  17. Yes: installing and testing mods...and even dabbling in the CK itself...is as much fun as playing the game. I have over 2,000 hours in game, and since I don't think offline counts the hours, probably have nearly that much offline. Much messing around with mods and testing house mods.
  18. I wax hot and cold on this. In real life we would die after only a hit or several with a sword. It's not real for us or NPC's to take 20 or more; arrows also. The best for me would be if I and any opponent dies rather quickly, especially with critical hits. As it is I don't really wear armor, except for perhaps regular iron from time to time because of the look. Just regular common clothes. I get by very well, even when dabbling with Requiem. Tactics also rule. Always a warrior: usually greatsword and bow. I guess my point is that being able to kill enemies quickly with a few slashes or arrows is rather realistic. And our enemies should be able to do the same to us.
  19. I'm thinking you liked windows 8 as well. Windows 8 wasn't bad for the short time I had it before 10. 10 is a great upgrade, as is SE. Now we just need a new generation of modders to make mods exclusively for SE's true potential. IMO "porting" isn't enough. People waste $60 every month...SE is worth it (and IMO, everyone should have had the full game to begin with anyway.)
  20. So you have not tested SE in person? If you have all kinds of mods than you probably also have the DLC entitling to a free download?
  21. IMO, it isn't simply a matter of current mods being "ported" over to SE. SE is a remaster and I think that existing mods should be remastered to take advantage of the greater potential. I hope that a new generation of modders come along creating mods specifically for the greater potential of SE. If some current modders really don't want to be bothered with SE, then IMO their time has past. In the meantime I'm using (testing) Frostfall/Camping, Wet & Cold, iNeed and Open Cities. So the immersion experience is there (could use the old menu, but even that was a mod.) I even got one of my own house mods working and may try others of mine and from others. Most of the view is an improvement even from my modded original. I also noticed, when standing under the porch of my farmhouse mod and in the stable during rain, that it doesn't rain there, but you can see the rain outside. I never used the Real Shelter or whatever mod in the original that had the same effect, but SE apparently comes with it. SE is much better. If it does not grow, then we are all playing with an essentially dead game, where existing mods are as good as it will get. If Skyrim lives on, all current naysayers will sooner or later come on board to SE. I got my SE for free. But one can easily spend $60 dollars or so just going out for one night; and no doubt waste that much during a month. That is to be compared to the hours...if not years...of enjoyment the game can provide. It is worth it.
  22. If Skyrim lives on, SE will surpass it. I don't think that SE was meant to compete with a fully mature game like the original right out of the box. But SE appears to be a better starting platform. I've been playing SE for just over a day, testing it. I won't go back to the original (although they act as two separate games, so one can play both, jumping from one to the other.)
  23. Who is saying that SE is bad? Anyone who actually has it?
