  1. Oh crap, I forgot to mention... I win.
  2. We're talking about grade-school students here. How many of them use clothing to "express themselves visually," beyond saying I have X money and I belong to X clique? How many grade school children know how much their parents make? More to the point, almost every child I know that goes to grade school wears it because it 'looks cool' which is a form of them expressing themselves as they like it as an extension of their personality. Psychology classes really pay off. Of course, you have those students (usually teenagers and young adults, sometimes not) that believe that just because they paid more makes them better then everyone else. However, where I live, these types of students are nonexistent and generally ignored if one happens to show up. Now I got to make myself feel old, when I was in grade school, we didn't bother with such nonsense about "Oh, my daddy is rich." or "Hey, I belong to that group over there." We wore what we liked and didn't care. However, this isn't a debate about school uniforms, it is a debate about whether school discourages creativity. Let's keep it on track shall we? @Keanumoreira I lost faith in how the system works and who is in charge of it. The system does work, but the people in charge are now corrupt and has forgotten why they were elected to begin with. Those running against them are no better either.
  3. Granted, but it is terrible coffee and makes you violently ill every time you drink it. I wish both good and evil things in the universe have a purpose.
  4. Less then a month left to go now.
  5. I love that quote. It is a fool-proof method to avoid any criticism. Everyone dreams, everyone has ideas. Not everyone has the will or the passion to bring them into fruition. Many people I know are creative in their designs, their solutions to every day problems. However, not one of them are willing to do out and make it happen as they might fail. @Aurielius I agree whole-heartily. We seem to agree a lot, don't we? @Grannywils Now I know why you are held in such respect. I am turning 19 in two months =P And I'm an American Apparently, I am not the only one with a flair for words either. I had to fight with the school systems multiple times as I would do things they don't understand. I solved mathematical problems with using just my mind and they said I was cheating. I wrote poetry that went on for three or four pages and the school went behind me and got rid of them. I drew pictures of battlefields and war ( I was 14 ). I was told never to doodle again. I don't know how you all feel, but that killed a lot of me back then and I only recently tried to reclaim that part of my life. I am also aware of the reasoning behind the school uniforms. However, it would still discourage creativity as no one is allowed to express themselves visually. The only reason why I threw that in there. Most kids would rather Google the answer then figure it out, don't they :(
  6. @Marharth I agree there are other ways. Even books are a form of art, a form of culture. Architecture is another, and there are many more besides. However, they don't teach writing or architecture in art class.
  7. @Marharth I disagree with that. My old art teacher (thankfully, not the same man I ranted on earlier) did not set standards or deadlines. We came in, sat down, and he told us to create what we believe is Art. And that is exactly what we did. Some painted, some drew, some made ceramics, all of which were unique. The results were amazing. We had paintings that went to State, ceramics that still inspire awe, and drawings that were incredibly life like. /\ This is what an Art Class is supposed to be like. It sounds like something out of elementary, but the results were better then any fourth grader could give. We were graded pretty much on our attendance. Sometimes, we had to draw something specific so we can learn how to draw something else of our imaginations better but other then that, it was what we thought was Art.
  8. Granted, now all you do IS study. I wish I knew everything, from the very beginning to the very end and all in between.
  9. So do I. I own PS2, PS1, PS3, XBox, Xbox 360, Game boy (first gen), Gameboy Advance, Gamecube, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, Atari, and several others. =P I would like to remind everyone here that these were gathered over my life, not just bought recently. I take good care of my stuff.
  10. I am feeling sick... I think I had enough of this planet now...anyone seen my doomsday device?
  11. School itself discourages creativity, ingenuity, that simple spark in like that brings worth wonderful ideas and creations. Nowadays, schools are too hooked up on what kids memorized, not what they understand. As for art classes....my art teacher, whom killed my creativity fun level single handily, won't allow any paintings or forms of art unless they can be sold. He tells everyone what to paint, what to draw, how to draw it. Woe be you if you failed to do it exactly like he did. That isn't art....Art is the truest expression of freedom, of individuality. It contains our emotions, our desires, our thoughts, our opinions. They embody Love, Hate, Greed, Selflessness, Courage, Honor, Treachery. They embody our dreams of sailing, of reaching for the stars. It's form could be from a painting to sculpting, to even ceramics. What Art ISN'T is a manufactured good, a product made the same countless times with the tiniest variations. That isn't Art; that is the darkness of a Cultural Backlash, a decline. Look how some schools have uniforms even! They want everyone to be the same, all equal. What exactly are we trying to be equal to? Cattle? Sheep? Wearing the same thing day after day, week after week, seeing the same droll colors on everyone...it makes me want to listen to Pink Floyd Another Brick in a Wall (2). It discourages students to think outside the box, to expand their horizons, to test the limits of their intellect, their ingenuity, their creativity, and dare I say it, their imaginations. America is heading to a Cultural Decline as well as Economical and anything else you want to throw into the mix. We are not teaching kids to think; we are teaching them to memorize. Nothing in this world is more important then the human mind. It is our greatest gift and our curse. It is one of the few things that has allowed man to overcome obstacles that would have wiped us out. It allowed the Romans to build an Empire, Greece to discover its marvelous culture, to America becoming free. To leave a mind untapped is dangerous as it is wasteful. No one will think on their actions, their beliefs. They won't be able to see the world past the physical, the world of dreams, of imagination, of things that Could Be. It is a sad time for America as our next generation arrives and is taught by those who don't know creativity. It will lead to a chain reaction that WILL cause this country's downfall, and possibly the world's as well.
  12. I am literally at a lost for words except :wallbash:  :wallbash: :psyduck:
  13. Don't worry you will be singing a different tune. :whistling:
  14. Okay, I read through to page nine and finally got bored so I am going to insert my two cents into this epic mod. Words of Power only direct the spell. The Spell originates from the mind and its effect is directed by the mind. Therefore, same words can be used for different spells. We simply list the spells as something like 'Compress the Air' or 'Break Neck' or 'Fire ball'. The word will be shouted when the spell is casted and so on and so forth. If this was already an idea listed, I am sorry. Just couldn't read 61 pages. ;) Also, where do I sign up Eccentric Software for this?
  15. We sound amazing.
  16. Naomis8329, we both know how this song is going to end. Time for a duet! :whistling: :whistling:
  17. lol if you are all this good you must be hackers. Just kidding of course. Funny thing is, if these people think you are hackers, why would they try to make you mad when you can easily hack them? Common sense isn't common anymore it seems.
  18. Granted, you are tied in a tube and are taken cared of for the rest of your life. Never have to do a thing! I wish I was as intelligent as House.
  19. Darn, I thought I had a good grip. Maybe I can keep it next time, eh?
  20. I know, it is like a polished orb covered in oil. Must be why you slipped
  21. Ouch. That is very troubling news. and Win.
  22. Most ironic of all, was the last gift that Raziel had given me. More powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision that his sacrifice had accorded me. The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: hope. -Kain from Legacy of Kain: Defiance
