  1. That was my thinking but it seemed necessary to get a second opinion, thanks for the response!
  2. Strictly speaking this is Enderal modding, but Enderal is obviously based in Skyrim and I'm pretty sure more people here will have advice about this. There's an Enderal mod that I was using (Detect Dead For Enderal, /enderal/mods/67), that with the current version of Enderal no longer works. It relies on Skyrim base game magic effects, that weren't used in Enderal and for that reason were removed. I poked around in xEdit to see if I could get it working, and I was able to, but only by making a copy of my non-Enderal Skyrim.esm, copying over the relevant magic effects from that, and updating all the references so that it didn't require the non-Enderal master file. I've been testing it in-game for a few days and it works fine, the original mod author has given permission to modify/release bug fixes as long as they're credited, and I'm sure at least a few other people would find this helpful, BUT I'm worried about the legality of posting this, since Bethesda content isn't just being edited or overwritten but literally copied. Obviously this isn't really what piracy laws are intended for, this plugin won't do a thing for anyone who doesn't already own the game, but still. Can anyone tell me whether I'm being too paranoid or not? Is there a precedent for this sort of thing?
  3. Do you know how you got past the meeting place bit? I've been stuck there for hours, reloaded (from before the final fight with Ancano) 5 times, and each time he talks to his commander, then his sister, then I get the option to talk to both of them but there's never a point at which he mentions getting us out of there or there's any opportunity to leave.
  4. The \m\ directory is probably for male, that's the convention for the whole Clothes folder, but there's no \f\ directory. In the base game the female mesh uses the male textures, and neither mod seems to have changed that. I could just set the path to one of the newer textures, but then I'm assuming it would only work for that one, and I'm really hoping to get it to use different textures depending on which in-game item it is.
  5. I haven't, I did open Thunderchild in TES5Edit but all the robes are set to the same mesh (now overwritten with the one I'm hoping to use). I could go through and change them to reference a different path, but it'd just be the same mesh in a different location. Would that maybe help the texture problem? Right now it's using the correct mesh, the mesh just isn't using the correct textures for some reason. No problem, and thanks! Honestly I've never worked with the CK, TES5Edit and editing separate files is just more intuitive for me, but I'll figure it out if it's the only/best option.
  6. I'm not really experienced with nif-editing, but I've read a few tutorials and figured out how to change the texture path. The trouble is, I know it's possible to have a .nif used for multiple items with different textures, but haven't found any guides for that. Backstory: I love the mod Thunderchild for it's changes to the shout system, and the textures for the Greybeard Robes variations it adds, but am really not a fan of the female mesh it uses (it's pretty oversized for UNP, though I don't blame Enai for not making different versions, since the outfits are pretty far down on the list of reasons to use this mod). I tried to replace it with the meshes from the UNP Minidresses mod by Tiwa44 (renamed to overwrite the Thunderchild meshes, and to be safe also overwriting the vanilla Greybeard robes/boots meshes), and it successfully replaced the meshes for the mod-added robes, but used the vanilla texture, not the awesome Thunderchild textures. So I assumed that the Tiwa44 mesh just had the vanilla path hard-coded, looked up how to change a .nif's texture data, and figured I could change the texture data of the Tiwa44 mesh to be same as the Enai mesh, but when I compared their BSShaderTextureSet, they were already identical (screenshot attached). Does anyone know why one mesh is working with the multiple textures and the other isn't? I'd be super grateful for any ideas, advice, or any other type of assistance. Thank you!
  7. Disabling Avira fixed the problem for me too, thanks for pointing that out.
  8. Thanks for the insights and the fantastic mods!
  9. I'm having the same issue, as others have noted running as administrator has no effect. I have noticed that retrying can sometimes work. The install percentage seems to fail at different points on each retry, and if it gets to 100% it will register a completed installation. On a related note, this issue for me is much more common with larger mods. Also, I seem to have slightly better luck with files that I downloaded manually and added to NMM from that file, than with mods that were downloaded via NMM. There have been a few mods that I downloaded via NMM, had a few failed install attempts, completely removed from NMM, downloaded manually and added to NMM via file, that then successfully installed on the first try. I've been able to get all but 2 mods (Interesting NPCs and KS Hair Renewal) installed like this. Obvously for most mods it's easier to do a manual install than go through that process, but if there's a mod you really want to install via NMM, I hope this helps.
  10. In response to post #43716810. I don't have SSE and I'm not sure whether it includes bug fixes that aren't also in the most recent Skyrim update, but I'm fairly certain the in game borders/land mass are unchanged, at least in terms of scale, though the visual quality seems to be much higher.
  11. Thanks for managing the chaos so well! And I have to say, while it is inconvenient, it's nice to know that the Skyrim modding community is still so active 5 years later. Is there any kind of ETA for when NMM services will be back? I know you can't make any guarantees, but an educated guess for when we should check back would be helpful. Will there be another news bulletin to let us know?
