  1. well, I was in breezehome today kinda chilling listening to the music and it reminded me of Lord of the Rings and I thought how incredibly amazing it would be to add a themed worldspace, and many of the resources for moria, rohan, and gondor are fantastically provided (mordor might take a little bit of work) I have been researching and I can go building and scripting with the dev kit when it comes out but Im worthless at nifskope and blender etc. I know there are many modders out there with talents far superior than mine and I was wondering who was interested. There is a plethora of LOTR resources swimming around nexus. I think this would be a fanastic project with enormous potential. I mean we have balrog models, saurons armor, wringwraith armor, a freakin gandalf companion already strutting about in Oblivion. albeit not all of those things are compatible with skyrim, but the idea still stands. If no one helps, Ill still attempt it when the construction set comes out but I promise it will be far inferior to something involving lil old me all alone. I desperately want to roam the lands of middle earth-- so who's game?
  2. actually I was using heavy armor, but I had just stopped using light armor. Im level 30 and my heavy armor is like 38 I never used it really. If you can't stagger then idk whats wrong with you, it's just a matter of having good skills.
  3. This is a scripted event and yes it is irritating, but when CS comes out it will be a simple matter to edit out the respawning equipment.
  4. click her in console and type addfac 19809 1
  5. no it's actually pretty easy, just get lots of stamina and dual flurry, I use dual ebony axes with alternate single power attacks, it's super easy to stagger even the toughest of enemies and hack them to pieces if you just smith it.
  6. Basically what you are doing is adding gold to the vendors inventory, the 0's are not necessary but they won't break the command either. they act like significant figures, they only count if there is something before them. I am not sure if vendors are scripted to actually be willing to trade more than a game determined amoutn of gold, a better thign to do would just give yourself the gold directly or if you are really gonna console, set your speech to 100 and invest in soem of the perks.
  7. I obviously couldn't upload it as it's not my work but I found a program that significantly boosted my Skyrim performance. http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html This basically is a really nifty tool that can whack a few of those microsoft background memory hogs. I used it for several hours yesterday and it's been great. It also is nifty enough to have a page to tell yu when your drivers are out of date. It just improved my FPS a lot and I thought other people might not know about it, it's easy to use and helped me a lot (mostly cuz I only have a dual core processor 2.7 Ghz)
  8. well, I'd save, open up console, click yourself, type kill, and load your save.
  9. short answer: depends on the mod. just follow the instructions and make sure on the data files page you check the box at the bottom which says "load loose files" Right now, the program mainly used to make mods has not been finished/released yet so what has been released is very limited, I suggest reading mod descriptions carefully and trying to understand exactly what the mod is doing. Simple things such as http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=669 are retextures, which means they take the model of the armor and basically put new colors/patterns on it (which is the texture) and the reason the game recognizes as they share the same name as the vanilla (term for files from the original un modded game) files. Won't that overwrite my vanilla files? No because all of Skyrims files are compressed into a .BSA archive with all of the directories set up. People use a tool called .BSA extracter (they come with any previously released mod manager, and any up to date one will work with skyrims .BSA's fine). Normally you will find that mods come with an .esp which holds scripting and basically all the info that tells the game what to do with different objects (armor, npcs, buildings) and when an .esp is placed in the data folder it pops up as a selectable box in the data files menu named correspondingly. Texture replacers/ better night sky/ all those things you just place the files in the directories as the modder said (textures, meshes, and sound folders should all go inside data unless somehow someone has made a wierd directory paradox Ive never seen in the 200 gigs of mods Ive installed)
  10. Yeah, I'm gonna support, like for personal use Im replacing world models of armor wiith biped models so I can actually display my armor sets in my house, which will be fantastic. +1 for this mod all the way!
  11. I just want to kill him and take his hat. meh. Ill do it later!
  12. I love the new smithing skill, and Ive been looking at values and it would appear a smithing skill of about 190 is required to make daedric legendary. Obviously this requires enchanting. How would you go about it? should I use the "you can improve items XX% more" or fortify Smithing? Are there any good quest items for this? I am gonna hit 90 smithing tomorrow and I wanted to get my daedric legendary and then enchant it with some great effects. What effects would be cool? I don't need skill bonuses for my combat armor, as I am makign some cheaper sets into crafting sets.
  13. I enjoy working towards a game breaking dominance like that gradually so that I can beast in a variety of ways, I just train my character in just about every skill so the game remains challenging but i can still use a variety of approaches, like my character is a ranger, assassin, tank, and a mage tank. There will always be ways to "game-break" in any RPG that allows any amount of power to be achieved. Training just abotu any skill to 100 will result in an unfair advantage. Even smithing lol. I get bored if I highly specialize my character. But I guess I'm just a power hungry slightly ADD kinda guy.
  14. i think this would be fantastic bro! I love trying out new color combos and I think this would be super cool. I'd definitly endorse and help in any way I can. I am not extremely familiar with the other CS's but i did some companion mods.
  15. I would do this myself, but their isn't any Nifskope support for Skyrim files yet so I'm in the dark. I think it'd be fantastic if we had a white ebony armor with gold trim. I mean that just be spiffing! I can place it and scale it as a new in game item when the CS is out, so all I really need is an artist. It's a pretty simple retexture and I was hopign someone far more experienced than me could lend a hand.
  16. Me too, how have people been doing decent retextures w/out skope?
  17. Anyone know the name/location of this NPC: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6048/6336027846_bf8a069722.jpg
  18. Anyone know which NPC this is? http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6048/6336027846_bf8a069722.jpg
  19. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Faendal Here is what has been published on him so far, His scripted visits are likely part of this miniquest: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Deliver_Sven%27s_Letter_to_Camilla I am unaware if he is essential or not but I do not think so, although killing him will remove that quest most likely. Obviously be discreet if you do kill him, who knows what Camilla wold say/do. Although according to lore they are not having an affair as camilla has remained neutral towards sven and faendals advances.
  20. I agree as to the great variety of the game although I have only gotten to play 15 hours or so (I'm very busy with school) Although I have been hurting between lack of performance fixing patches my game lags on a computer that runs AC2 and ME2 on ultra graphics (which are games on the same par basically graphically) at 60 FPS. And just today my sound freaked out. I also an missing my construction kit as I dislike the vanilla companion system and I wanted to do a nearly endless amount of tiny tweaking such as I did with FNV and oblivion. It still is one of my favorite games of all time.
  21. Hmm..... It works for my character, though it's not as big a deal aas if it was mass effect where your guy sounds like guidance counselor lol
  22. I know there is a pretty common bug where the steam version of skyrim the sound stutters and warps like crazy, Ive tried validating, my drivers are up-to-date, and tried all the playback qualities on my speakers but it just won't work. On the lower playback qualities background sounds better and on the higher the voices sound better, either way it's still awful, this just randomly occured. Any ideas?
  23. I am sure I'm not the only one who has noticed-- the new surface of skyrims water (imho) is really gorgeous, I am more about geography and stuff than actual graphics and i lvoe the beautiful upper european climates in the game. But underwater still look nazty bro! I understand it can be painful to animate water, but Ive seen even the wii pull off great light filtering effects on free roam games like monster hunter tri underwater. I feel like I'm swimming through a solid wall of dirt. Thoughts?
  24. I apologize for the bad console advice-- I had my FNV commands mixed up, my fault. as for not beign able to marry her this is a confirmed glitch, however a workaround is simple, at least according to the wiki. Select Lydia in the console and enter "addfac 19809 1" then speak to her with the amulet equipped. This should work according to the scripting as it assigns her the properties of an NPC eligible for proposal. I haven't gotten the oppurtunity to test it out yet, but I will ASAP
  25. I got the perk and the ability to smith long after obtaining elvish, however I can forge orcish post-perk and I have not encountered it yet. I would suggest re-adding the perk using console. "player.addperk 000cb40f" should work fine.
