CTD before main menu.. But not always..
ccmechanic2 replied to adman85's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
you said it is not consistent? can you duplicate it on demand? if not try my A8 test mod and see if the problem stops or gets worse. Of it continues...it's a steam issue with the server connectivity that causing the CTD. It' the only thing that makes any sense. inconsistent means it's not a mod issue at all, it's outside of that, you said steam is involved. yeah, well, there is lies the issue, if it can not fix a file issue as you stated then there is the problem. What file can it NOT fix? can you obtain that info? -

Crashes on New Game + Load Game
ccmechanic2 replied to DarkXessZ's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
you have a *.nif or slideshow file set to read only or system OS has secured the file so you don't have permission to run it best thing to do is go through all directories and look far a locked file, set the system view to see all hidden files every where. You may find it that way.. -
your shy 1 gig of ram. Combined on that OS you have 6 total available, of the three gigs 1 4rd is used by the OS, leaving you with two thirds left, which is not enough to game for any length of time. your GPU and CPU are taxed to their limit. you need more ram. you also have a defect in the Bios or a piece of equipment plugged into it that is defective. the error message says stop. a hardware issue once taken care of will increase processing for you but you need more ram.

The game was built upon an Nvidea graphics platform, So that would seem like the correct choice, however I have seen users with ATI cards having better game play. This is a coin toss. the present game you have has a file that lists the cards they recommend. whether or not that information is of any use is up to you. I have found the OS and the DX version seems to be the key to game play extremes along with the OS provided display drivers for what every hardware your rig has. there is a really picky thing the game engine does when messing with the display settings and through trial and error, I found Monitor issues effecting how the game operates. Your question is a loaded gun, a ticking time bomb so not many will want to get involved with this issue. This is a question best make for those in the black arts of driver creations. Me, I'm and old pro of VooDoo cards, I know what can be done with any video card driver. you find a web site that deals with custom made display drivers for the specific games and you may find a much cheaper way to get what your after. I use windows 7 supplied 1.1 WDM Nvidea display drivers for maximum control. the replacement drivers upset the game and cause to many other issues to list here. Windows update can supply you with the correct updated driver for your OS. Make it happy, and the game will follow suite.

that mod is so tiny, it needs to be merged into some other ad don and encapsulation. as far as I'm concerned, it was just something to do, it does not really add anything spectacular to the game. Se la ve, I delete'd it. eh I have other things to do. But at least it allowed me to find something I missed so I thank you for the posted interest in a CTD issue. I track all CTD issues. I am only interested in moding game mechanics. I have no other interest at this time.

No, FNV does not require it, what it requires are the codecs you were missing from it. You now have on your system those codecs. Now there are two live programs installed on your system. The old xp version and the new version. remove the distribution live version and reboot the PC. Open up fomm and use the tweak tool to install the fake live .dll in both games.reboot. and see of the games run now. -
ehemm, you would not believe me if I told you what the result is. heh heh, the amount of support the geck placed into his/her file is astounding. When the plater places any item from that mod into inventory and then travels away from that cell, the original mod as it is has no support for other cells. SO if the player were to say off load those items into say lucky38 locker or such, leave the strip, return, he may find the items gone. The geck added so much stuff, I am blown away. But, it works much nicer now, I have a little more testing to do before I contact him. Have to be sure.

ccmechanic2 replied to reillys_pink_ranger's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Yes, it is supposed to be in there as I can see it, Microsoft Games for windows market place. How ever, I see also games booster, that's ad ware you know that? remove that, it is fake ware and may be causing your issue. -
Ok, I was able to reproduce the issue, the trading post has absolutly no navmesh support. Some other mods remove data from that area so I found conflicts there, mainly the terrain, rocks and things like that. I will try and see if adding what it needs fixes the issue, If it does, I'll contact the author with the instructions to repair it, but it has no nav mesh data at all ...!!!

ccmechanic2 replied to reillys_pink_ranger's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Yep, that screen shot you sent me told the whole story. You very well could have a bug on your system too that changes those files, I had a bug from someplace, it was called "setupS.exe" some kind of ad ware trojen, came in a pdf file of all things, the default windows 7 display driver kept crashing, when it does this, it recovers, and in the recovery window, it has a little wrench, I clicked that, and saw the bug was loading on start-up and embedded in the task bar too. Nasty thing that was. I Goggled the item to find out what it was, to my horror, it got past Microsoft security essentials, PAID version. Avast too, malware bytes also. Still waiting for an update on the report for that bug. Win 7 is supposed to not be so acceptable for those thing's, but, I had it. Horrible system performance was encountered so I knew something was wrong. Nothing caught it. Just when I expanded the pdf I was reading did it show up. Attacking the display driver directly is a first for me. I thought I'd share this because I think maybe a lot of folks have this bug too. several game sites are host to it according to the Goggled search I ran. I don't know how else to scan for it, too new . -
Can't Take Screenshots With MGE
ccmechanic2 replied to Herculine's topic in Morrowind's Troubleshooting
I could understand your saying that my system might be compromised if my "Print Screen" key would not copy an image of my active window or desktop to my clipboard, but that's not the function I'm referring to. I'm talking about the game's ability to produce a screenshot when you modify the .ini file as such: "Screen Shot Enable=1". Morrowind Graphics Extender is for some reason undoing that modification and not allowing me to tick the relevant box in its GUI. When I press the "Print Screen" button while playing a message comes up instructing me to make the change to the .ini, thus it's a vicious circle. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this, heard of it or might know how to remedy it. I didn't have this issue with an older version of MGE, so I'm guessing it must be something specific to version 3.8.0.0... re-install the old version over top of the new version EXCEPT tell it NOT to overwrite Game meshes and textures, those you keep. If the problem now stops and your able to again obtain screen shots, Talk to MGE about what you did, he will know exactly whats doing it. Most likley, an *xml menu file is the cause. -

The print screen key on your key board should deposit a (*bmp) file in that games folder. If not, your system is compromised. That key should always work no matter what. -
Constant Crashing problem
ccmechanic2 replied to Blackboltz's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Steams is the problem and your not alone with that respect. If steam is involved, your in for a fight to get that game to run. They have done some crap and a whole lot of people are mad as hell over it. That explains ("NOT ON YET"). A6 wrote to your game files and steams server, that's why, it called for the expansion pack, you told steams server to load what you do not own, ERGO, it disables your game. Steam does this. We are all still looking into this issue, every one in the world is doing this. A7 will not send this information to steam. Some place on your drive they have stashed a disqualified file, Possibly in the registry to to shut down your game. redoing every thing won't help either, some times it does but I doubt it. If you had a crashing issue before , and now it's even worse, then they are doing this. The have support to clean out the steam caches to remove such information, I would try that first. your game will continue to crash with no mods installed so you have to do this stuff to fix it with them. -

Only one mod, Before you even turn it on ? That really strange ? I can understand if was on, but NOT ON? that's so weird. Post your load order , ah it can be found in the plugin.txt file on your system. -
Second report I posted. ============================================== http://www.fallout3nexus.com/images/icons/user.png ccmechanic2http://www.thenexusforums.com//uploads//av-2165347.jpg Joined: 17 Aug 2010 Posts: 1,221 Kudos: 63 [+] AP: 286 AP Rank: 652 http://www.fallout3nexus.com/images/icons/calendar.png15:05, 20 June 2011 Status update here: v3 nearing completion, standing by to remove said bugs that have been reported, so far after several tests done by others and my self, No changes are needed to this point. The Calvert Mansion issue for the Damon quest line is weapon sensitive, With only my mod being in game play, and using only My weapons and custom armor, there is No Boiler available to the player to finish the quest, Others may also experiences this issue with my mod installed and when they remove it, the reason the boiler appears is because your changing the saved game codes, shifting the quest strings. In My test, I did the opposite, No boiler and NO MOD used. I installed My mod, same thing. Ok reload the original saved game and went in with leather armor and a double barrel shot gun, cleaned house, and guess what's sitting there with my mod in full swing? The Boiler Big as you please. Inventory quest sensitive, that's whats going on. Not always what it appears to be, not always mod related. Shifting the games coding sequencing will always change things. How and what is anyone guess, it all depends on the users actions and the data used, and how it's used. My best ccmechanic2This post was edited by ccmechanic2 at 15:08, 20 June 2011

Do you have a friend that can bring you up to speed with all the mod tools used for the game ? you need to use a mod manager and some other tools. When you install a mod, the last one installed usually ends up last which in your case should suffice. But if you add any other mods and don't know how or what they will do, you must uninstall my mod, run your new mods, save your game progress and re-install my mod last. Best I can do on short notice. There are plenty of nice folks that can give you a hand with all of this.
