  1. Thanks for the responces, I guess I have a judgement call to make now. =P
  2. Ah so why do you think the Official DLC HD textures cause stutters when they are actually lower res than the Skyrim HD mod? Because its reading from a bsa maybe? The settup you posted above is actually what I was thinking about, putting all the mods together is a bit of a puzzle to solve but in the end is worth it and it gives more of a complete "oerhaul" feel. So you definately think Skyrim HD is better than the Official DLC HD pack then? I was thinking that the Offficial DLC might be less of an impact on my system but if it causes stuttering then that kinda sucks. I do not tollerate stutter very well. I have a good system and try to go for the best experience possible WITHOUT stuttering, lol. I was thinking of using the official DLC HD pack along side of Skyrim HD, I heard the DLC contains textures for armor and such that Skyrim HD does not.
  3. For the life of me I cannot hardly tell the difference between vanilla Skyrim and the Official HD DLC from Steam. I took screenshots of several places outside to compare and was left wondering if I even had it installed correctly. Maybe the official DLC doesn't change all of the textures? And yes, I checked the .esp's in the launcher. =P So I am wondering if I should go with the unofficial Skyrim HD pack on nexus. Installing it with all of the other mods may get confusing, since everything has to be in a certain order to not overwrite the wrong stuff. That is the only reason I tried the official DLC. So I guess my question is... Is the official DLC really not that impressive or am I missing something?
  4. Hey guys, I am not quite ready to switch over to the Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 since its still kinda in beta, from the looks of it at least. I am unsure if a fix was ever posted and I have been modding Oblivion for years now, but I have to ask... HGEC bodies do not match up with the Oblivion Character Overhaul heads... I have downloaded the optional textures that are supposed to help out but they do nothing. Or so it seems. I install Roberts Male body, HGEC nude, HGEC hi-res textures, then Oblivion Character Overhaul. I use OBMM for all the installs and the archives are invalidated, of course. I mean, I can live with a few of the NPC's having golden or greenish face and neck textures and a white body, its a small price to pay for a much better look overall... but if there IS a fix out there, please someone let me know. Thank you for any insight into this matter.
  5. Aside from the changes in the above post I changed these settings also: bUseHardDriveCache=1 uInterior Cell Buffer=24 uExterior Cell Buffer=288 iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000 So far there is no crashing and nearly no stutter whatsoever. It runs at max FPS except for a few locations where there are a lot of bridges and castles, it drops to 25 FPS (RAEVWD HD bridges and castles slows it down a bit). I guess I can't complain, this is as maxed out as an Oblivion game can get. I kept streamline just for the purge before save feature but got rid of the PCB - Purge every cell .esp.
  6. Hmm I think maybe the stutter remover setting and the memory purger may have done the trick, I am still playtesting but only had one crash in about 3 hours. That is acceptable. I hope it stays that way. (crosses fingers)
  7. @discovery1 Yes I did a complete reinstall from the ground up. I install the game, patch it, install my "essentials" (OBMM, OBSE, BOSS, Wrye Bash, Unofficial Oblivon Patches, 4 GB enabler from the Nexus site, etc) then zip it up to make a base backup. Each time I make changes I just delete the game and rebuild it so I know for sure what exactly is going on and elliminate extraneous variables. I usually start a new save game with each rebuild to play test. How do you chnage the heap setting for Oblivion Stutter Reducer (I have it installed btw)? Is there an ini for it somewhere? As far as the spell delete and item remover mod goes, all I know is that I have always used in past Oblivion installs and never had a problem... however, although I have always installed it, I have never actually tried to use it in game. Lol. Maybe I will remove it, since I don't use it anyway. I am checking out the memory purger extended. I am just curious but are my uinterior/exterior and ipreload settings I mentioned above alright? Or can they go higher? I had them set to those numbers (the tweak guide said those settings where for 2 GBs of RAM) on my old Voodoo Firebird that had only 4 GBs of ram and never had a problem on that machine. I used the 4GB enabler from the nexus site, is that the one you are talking about that is from the "core site"? The game crashes most often when zoning (opening doors) and it seems to be fairly sporatic. There are purely random crashes also however, just walking around in the country side or when managing my inventory or equiping an item (no item in particular, just random items). To elaborate, when I click on a door to zone it sometimes crashes right away before the loading screen and sometimes just after the loading screen but I never actually see the zone load, it just goes black and I get the default windows message saying "this program has stopped functioning properly". @sendal Windows isn't telling me anything useful, it just says what I wrote above, that "this program has stopped working properly". The game closes pretty much as it would when you stop a process. Its there one second and gone the next, very fast CTD. And yes Alienware has had some issues with freezing and hanging, mainly due to nvidia driver issues and hte I7 processor relocating resources in strange ways, usually during auto updates. I have bonded with this PC and it tells me what it needs. We are friends now so those issues are under control. I have set Oblivion to "max performance" in the nvidia control panel however, just to be safe. As far as preloadsizelimit, I do not fully understand what this does, I only use the "recomended" settings in the tweak guides. The game is crashing fairly randomly right now and also when I am just walking around outdoors. I will look into the load order for RAEVWD and Unofficial Oblivion Patch, right now I just have it set where BOSS places them. But what you are saying about meshes loading seems like a possible culprit, since I do have several graphical enhancements running. I will look into those also. I am using a new version of Better Cities. I was using the older version with the hotfix patch and now im using 5.4 I think (latest). So that might be an issue perhaps but unlikely I think. "Also what texture resolution size, LODs, shadows and parameters of that kind you have set in your ini ?" All at max settings, with max FPS in most areas and a little stuttering here and there. "You said that other games/3ds hardly crashed ever, but that means that they had crashes? Same with it> you sould provide more inf." When I said other games I meant my past Oblivion games on other PC's. I have hardly ever had crashing in any of my modded Oblivion and Fallout games, well fallout had some ussues here and there with the PCB when moving from exterior to interior zones. I have used many of the same mods on this install of Oblivion that I have in the past so I would have thought crashes would be minimal, the only difference is really just the extra HD textures, and mesh overhauls like RAEVWD and so on. I could not run those on my old PC.
  8. Hey guys, I've been modding Oblivion for years, all Bethesda games for that matter, and I recently purchased an Alienware M17 and thought id mod one more game just to see how the PC handles it. I have a 4.0 gh processer, windows 7 ultimate, 32 gb RAM, nvidia 780M graphics card with 4 gb VRAM. I am getting random crashes and I really do not think its my load order or any particular mod conflict but I am using some graphical enhancements I have never used before. I am basically running the game as maxed out as I can right now with Qarls HD texture pack, RAEVWD (with the QTP3 textures installed and ugriddistantcount set to 20), All Natural Weather, HD trees (forget the name exactly) set to 125% size, and I am running godrays and cellshader + AA. For the most part I get 30 FPS nearly everywhere except near really intense areas like the waterfront in the IC (using better cities also). The crashing is... bearable, but in the past my games hardly EVER crashed, period. The crashing happens mainly during zoning/loading a new zone but every now and then when I close a menu or equip an item. I have dome all the ini tweaks, set the exe to large address aware, and I am running streamline and PCB. I currently have these set to... uInterior Cell Buffer=16 uExterior Cell Buffer=102 iPreloadSizeLimit=104857600 ...for 2gb of RAM but it says you can go higher. Would going higher help perhaps? And if so, what would I set the int/ext cell buffer to for 4bg of RAM? Below is my load order, any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you. And please let me know if crashes just simply CANNOT be helped when running a game maxed out like this. Perhaps the game engine just can't handle it? I would prefer to have my game as crash free as possible, heh. 9. Hey, It's been a while since I last modded fallout 3 and I forgot... Do I still need the CRESBOR mod for custom races like the Shojo race or is the custom race fix included in the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch?
  10. Anyone know of a mod list for the Morrowind Overhaul Sound and Graphics v3.0? It would be nice to know what mods are actually used in it.... ... You know? =P I have been googling all day with no luck so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIInySnQe4I We need an Old Gregg follower for Skyrim. For the love of god someone please do it. I am tempted to study up and do it myself but it would take me so long to figure everything out... Follower would have voiced dialogue from the video linked above. For example... When wearing an amulet of Mara he would periodically stop you and ask "do you love me?" "Could you learn to love me?" "Tell me how it works..." and the players response would be "Gregg we are NOT having this conversation" or "I think I could love you gregg." Lmao When accessing his inventory he would say "do you like stuff? I got all things good!" He would have to have his tutu and coat from the show. He would have a special power where he flashes enemies by lifting his tutu to show off his (watch video). Nothing of course would be seen, keep it PG and not MA. A bright light would flash when he used his special power and all enemies would be paralyzed for a short duration. He would yell "I'm old Greeeeegg!" when using his paralyze power. Old Gregg should be found in a cave in some lake that can be accessed by a boat sitting in the middle of the water. At least 10 of his lines of dialogue (taken directly from the show) should be used at appropriate times during character interaction. DO IT! I will donate generously if done right. =P
  12. Is there a bbcode scrollbox command that is usable on the nexus site for skyrim? Like a code box or something?
  13. Hello there, I am trying to add an Apachii hair style directly to my mod making it standalone and following this guide "http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Adding_a_Follower_NPC_to_Skyrim". It reads... If you have the permission of the authour of the hair to redistribute it in your follower mod, or you don't want to redistribute your follower mod, then you can use this method to give your follower a custom hair: In the Object window expand the menu Character and then select the submenu HeadPart. Hairs in Skyrim are composed of two headparts, hairline and hair. Choose first one of the vanilla hairlines and double click on it to open a window like the one shown in picture Add a new hairline. In this window: Change the existing ID to create a new hairline Change the name of the hairline As this hair is only for your follower, uncheck the Playable checkbox if it was checked. This way the hair you are adding won't clutter the character creation window. On the Valid Races dropdown box make sure that the races chosen include your follower's race so that the hair is available to him. Model: press the Edit button and select the nif file of the hairline of the hair you want to use Tri: press the Edit button and select the tri file of the hairline of the hair you want to use. If the hair doesn't have a tri file (as in the example), then after pressing the Edit button choose Cancel and you'll see that the box is left blank. Press the OK button and answer YES when the CK asks you if you want to create a new object. Now add the hair Headpart. This process is almost the same than the one you've done to add the hairline with one exception: as you can see in picture Add a new hair at list at the bottom left part of this window you have to add the hairline you just created. To do that: Select any existing hairlines and delete them Right clik on the list and select New. Then select your hairline headpart from the dropdown list. Once you are done, click OK to save the new hair you've created. Now you can go back to your follower: Edit your character and select the hair from the list of available hairs. You'll see that now the hairs added bu the hair mod are available for selection. Press the OK button to save the changes on your NPC and closing the NPC editor window. Save the plugin. Now my question is, where are the newly added hair files stored in the Skyrim directory? For example, the facegen files are stored in "F:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\Skyrim.esm" so when I package my mod I just copy those files and zip them with esp. So where do I find the new custom hair files? Is there a console command to generate the files? Thank you for insight into this, it is greatly appreciated. After doing some reading I have one more question, can I add an apachii hair style to a vanilla NPC without changing her to a custom race?
  14. Hello all, I put this mod together for myself but decided to release it here just for fun. The Nexus community has given me many hours of amusement and I thought it would be a fun project to give something back. MKs Better Bards http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/45811/? P.S. Anyone know how I can report my mod to the BOSS team to have it placed on the master list?
  15. Hey guys, just watched a you tube video and decided to try changing a couple of hair styles on some NPC.s. I loaded both Skyrim and Apachi Hair ESM's and changed Muri's and Lisettes hair, making a new esp. It seems as though the shadows turn the hair transparent, in full shadow or full daylight there is no problem, only when shadows are passing over (flickering) does it appear transparent. I tried seeing if it was the load order but I think something may be missing. If anyone has any insight to offer from looking at these pics it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o299/shinmuriel/TESV2013-10-2521-56-25-39.jpg I get this error message when saving the file. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o299/shinmuriel/Untitled-1-2.jpg Edit: I was reading around and found something about UFO causing issues, another member made a post but never received any any replies. Edit: Figured it out, nevermind. Now on to making an NPC a follower.
  16. And do I load it before or after my bash patch?
  17. Got this message this morning when I ran BOSS. New_(Aranea|Jenassa|Jordis|Iona|Lydia|Saadia|Uthgerd}\.esp" is not a valid regular expression. Item skipped Any clues what it means?
  18. I am looking at the Skyre Ini replacement for the Community Uncapper mod and the default settings for skill caps are 100 but for Skyre they are set to 300, skill formula caps are defaulted at 100 but set to 150... It reads below (from the ini file) that when the skill cap exceeds the formula cap skills turn red as if they are affected by a negative enchantment. That seems... bad? Should these two settings listed below be the same (300 for skills and formula)? [skillCaps] ; Set the Skill Level Cap to ; Between 0 and 10000; ; Using too low or too high values may crash the game. Handle them with caution. ; Default game value = 100 iAlchemy=300 iAlteration=300 iArchery=300 iBlock=300 iConjuration=300 iDestruction=300 iEnchanting=300 iHeavyArmor=300 iIllusion=300 iLightArmor=300 iLockpicking=300 iOneHanded=300 iPickpocket=300 iRestoration=300 iSmithing=300 iSneak=300 iSpeech=300 iTwoHanded=300 [skillFormulaCaps] ; Set the Skill Formula Cap to ; If your skill level is higher than the cap set below, then the skill level showing in game will be capped and displayed in red color (like if it was affected by a negative enchantment) ; Between 0 and 10000; ; Using too low or too high values may crash the game. Handle them with caution. ; Default game value = 100 iAlchemy=150 iAlteration=150 iArchery=150 iBlock=150 iConjuration=150 iDestruction=150 iEnchanting=150 iHeavyArmor=150 iIllusion=150 iLightArmor=150 iLockpicking=150 iOneHanded=150 iPickpocket=150 iRestoration=150 iSmithing=150 iSneak=150 iSpeech=150 iTwoHanded=150
  19. I think I may have figured it out, it seems folders need to be zipped first before NMM will import them.
  20. How do I install mods for Skyrim? I have modded Fallout and Oblivion for years using Oblivion Mod Manager-like applications. I recently went to install and mod a game of Skyrim but found that the TesModManager is having issues creating mods (as explained in my other post in this same forum) and Nexus Mod Manager doesn't seem to allow me to "create" my own mods from folders, it seems designed for little more than downloading archived mods from the site. Am I wrong? Forgive me if I don't trust Steam or Nexus to do my modding... I would like to find a program that allows me to setup my own file structure and create my own Omods to install (just like Oblivion Mod Manager does). Is there an app for Skyrim that does this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
  21. Noticed this thread also, the guy seems to have the same issue. http://forums.nexusm...d-file-problem/
  22. I just downloaded TesModManager from the Skyrim Nexus site. I noticed it has surprisingly few downloads compared to Oblivion Mod Manager. It doesn't seem to be setup to work properly on installation and I am wondering why. I am running Windows 7 and have it set to admin (also right clicked and run it as admin). It appears that it is compressing the zip files in some format that it doesn't recognize maybe (see picture 4). Shouldn't it be compressing into Fomod or Omod format? I am getting two errors (pictures 1 and 2). There are a number of settings on TesModManager and I have no idea what they should be set at and cannot find a readme anywhere for this application. Am I missing something? I tried NMM also and it apparently is crap used to download mods automatically. Forgive me if I don't trust Nexus or Steam to install my mods for me, I have had issues with that in the past. I just need a mod manager that works for Skyrim. 25. Not sure if this has to do with better cities or not, I am guessing it is. Been using this mod for years and I recently put together a game on my new pc and noticed in Burma, there are two doors to J'Ghasta's house. One sits right in the middle of the walkway in front of his house. It seems to only be there when I fast travel into town. If I log out of game and back in while inside the town it disappears.
