It is very important to install the correct components in relation to other mods you are installing. + "Armamentarium.esm", "Meshes" folder, "Textures" folder = Core components (REQUIRED for any install). + "ArmamentariumLL4OOO.esp", "ArmamentariumLLMagicOOO.esp", "ArmamentariumLLVendors.esp" = OOO components (REQUIRED for this install). - "ArmamentariumLL.esp", "ArmamentariumLLArmaVendor.esp", "ArmamentariumLLMagic.esp" = non-OOO components (NOT required for this install). + "ArmamentariumArtifacts.esp" = Quest component (optional, highly recommended). + "Artifacts - ArmaCompleteAddon.esp" = compatibility component for Artifacts 1.1 (REQUIRED for this install - not if you aren't installing Artifacts 1.1). --------------- 0308 #8: Install MMM 3.73b BAIN package Referring to CorePC's PLUGINS ? DESCRIPTION and FUNCTIONS , [RELZ] MartsMonsterMod37b3 Public Release 3 [RELZ] #9, and DevNull's FCOM Expanded Load Order, these are my choices. Yours may differ (apart from the required ones, of course). Y = YES, N = NO To arrive at this... Note: "Mart's Monster Mod - Slof Horses Complete.esp" (incompatible with Slof's Horses.esp or Extra.esp. Probably also conflict with Slof's Horses Base.esp) See Also: If using FCOM & Slof's Horse Base, load Slof's Horses/Armored Horses early (before OOO). Tag Slof's Horses Base.esp with {{BASH:Graphics}} and use "Import Graphics" in the Bashed patch. Leave it virtually active --------------- 0309 (OPTIONAL) #9: Install COBL Cosmetics Resources 01 package (only required if installing Cobl Races). I will be installing "Cobl Races.esp" (not to be confused with "Cobl Races - Balanced.esp" - which I won't be using). For now, I won't install any of the body mod ("Install Next - IF using x Bodies") components. When I do install body mods later, I will come back to this installer, adjust, and "Anneal" it. --------------- 0310 (OPTIONAL) #10: Install Cobl 172 package --------------- 0310a (OPTIONAL) #10a: Install Loot-Drop-Merchant_changes_Proposal-21104.7z (Only required if installing MMM 3.7b3 Cobl update) Overwrites some Cobl 172 .esp files --------------- 0310b (OPTIONAL) #10b: Install MMM 3.7b3 Cobl update (Only required if you want the update changes listed in the Quote below). 7z archive contains a single "MMM-Cobl.esp" file. Now run BOSS and check the log for errors! Correct any errors by selecting/deselecting the appropriate components within each package in Wrye Bash Installers tab and then "Anneal" the package(s). --------------- 0312 #12: Install OMOBS 2.0 I'm installing "OMOBS_Shivering_Isles-28537.7z" --------------- This installation phase of uFCOM is now completed. Next, building the Bashed Patch. ========================================================= ================================= Building the Bashed Patch: ================================= ---------- 01 - It is advisable to start with a clean Bashed Patch. You can copy "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" from the \oblivion\Mopy\Extras folder to the \oblivion\Data folder. ---------- 02 - In Wrye Bash "Mods" window, click "Load Order" to have the mods listed accordingly. ---------- 03 - Run BOSS now, and read the log. Check that each mod has the correct Bash Tags, sometimes a tag needs to be removed! ---------- 04 - Left-click any mod. Use keyboard "Ctrl" and "A" keys together (this selects all in the current window). ---------- 05 - Right-click > "Mark Mergeable..." ---------- 06 - Activate any inactive mods. Some will become highlighted in red, these are supposed to be Deactivated. You can deactivate these ones yourself, or let Wrye Bash do it for you in the next step. ---------- 07 - Left-click "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" to select it, then right-click > "Rebuild Patch..." ---------- 08 - Click "Yes" button on first pop-up window. ---------- 09 - Now , at the second pop-up window, we are at the point where we select what goes into the Bashed Patch... ---------- 10 - Once those are set, click "Build Patch" button (and wait). After a few minutes you will get a pop-up window with results like this. Here is my Installers: (Installed Only) Packages List at this point ... ...and here is my Mods: Active Mod Files list at this point... ---------- For those who want a more detailed explanation of Bashed Patch selection options: Patch option reference (by Waruddar) stolen from the bottom of [RELZ] Wrye Bash -- Thread 69, post #1)... The game is now ready to play, although I would recommend defragmenting the hard drive or partition containing the game folder first (unless it is on an SSD drive). ========================================================= ======================== Patching The Mods: ======================== Sometimes small problems and personal tastes lead to modders creating patches for mods. These patches can usually still be applied if the original mod remains unchanged for long periods of time, but may be included within later updates of the original mod. ---------- ==FRAN PATCHES== 0321 (OPTIONAL) Dark_Green_Glass_Armor4FRAN-2996+17621.7z A mod that requires a patch to use with Fran's, and then needs a bit more work to get it functioning correctly (see post #5 "Patches & Making Them Do What You Want Them To" for details). 0322 (OPTIONAL) Frans_Optional_Leveled_Quests-SI_Only-17621.rar Amber and Madness ore overhaul and single harder quest for Shivering Isles. Designed for use with FCOM. Updated 8-5-08. (I didn't install the original Fran's version). 0323 (OPTIONAL) FRANs_OBSE_menu_plug-17621.zip Strategy Master's OBSE scripts to set the FransMenu to use OBSE calls and an .ini file. Should help stablize the menu system. 0324 (OPTIONAL) Dark_Seducer_Weapon_Fix-17621.rar Strategy Master's SI Dark Seducer Weapon Fix. Fixes the high level item spawns for the dark seducer so that they yield the correct maces and swords instead of Golden Saint weapons. ---------- ==OOO PATCHES== 0331 (OPTIONAL) Vanilla_House_Prices_for_OOO-33649.7z Changes OOO house prices back to Vanilla prices. 0332 (OPTIONAL) OOO-Better_Priced_Clutter-29633.7z Increases the value of the gems and clutter added by Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul to match the values given to vanilla clutter by the 2, "Gems" by Dugray, & "AC's Realistically Priced Clutter" 0333 (OPTIONAL) Geomancy_Gem_Dust_1_1-21102.zip (CHOOSE ONLY ONE esp, NOT BOTH) A rewrite of OOO's Geomancy & Gem dust plugin using OBSE. Includes bone grinding. ---------- ==FCOM PATCHES== Not really patches, but an example of how to change components of an install (and others that are affected). 0341 (OPTIONAL) RuneSkulls-9412.zip (Exnem Runeskulls 1.1) I didn't install the FCOM component that requires this, so I will now. This adds powerful Runeskulls to the game. (OPTIONAL, Requires Exnem Runeskulls) "FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp" (this nerfs Exnem's Runskulls). In Wrye Bash "Installers" tab, highlight the "FCOM_Convergence..." package, select/activate "FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp" in the lower right "Esp/m Filter" window. Package turns red. Now (over the installer package) right-click > "Anneal". Package turns green again. You will also need to uninstall "Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse Runeskulls Loot OOO.esp" by deselecting it in the "Installers" tab and annealing the "MMM37b3PR..." package. Note: None of these alterations involved packages with any conflicts, which can often happen. I always check the conflicts panel before I Anneal, so I know whether I may need to also Anneal other packages afterwards. ---------- Activate the newly installed files in "Mods" Tab, run BOSS, then Rebuild the Bashed Patch. =========================================================
  4. March 2012 Offline versions of this guide are now available in PDF and ODT formats for download from TESNexus, thanks to Bjornalf WHAT: This thread is an attempt to document, in meticulous detail, my progress so that others may (hopefully) benefit from the information provided by friendly people or which I discover. WHY: Some of the reasons for doing this are; A . To help people new to modding (such as a friend on a clan TeamSpeak server who was asking me to explain how to install one of the mods I created - which led to both of us experiencing extreme confusion and frustration). B . Having taken a break for several months, I find myself in the position of needing to relearn things and remember details, as well as determine what files and information are current and what are outdated. So, that makes it easier to see things through the eyes of someone who is new to modding. C . There are a lot of players new to modding since the game was released on Steam (and I have encouraged several friends to get it). D . Having done this before (not quite successfully) and recorded the steps in a .rtf document (not quite detailed enough) I desire to have something I can return to if I am ever foolish enough to want to repeat the process again. E . This should (hopefully) be easier to keep up to date, and having other people giving input should correct any mistakes I make. After a few months of playing my last modded install, I begun to get frustrated with some issues. I was getting a few CTDs and occaisionaly had duplicated and/or incorrectly positioned doors in some cities (depending upon which quest was active). Tried cleaning mods with TES4Edit (3.0.15), to no avail. I installed quite a lot of mods and it looks like I got the install order wrong and/or some of the omods I added later overwrote aspects of previous BAIN-installed ones. HOW: If at all possible, I will attempt to use only Wry Bash to install mods. That said, in previous attempts I have resorted to using OBMM because I don't understand the complex mechanics of some mods and prefer to trust the OMOD creaters and script writers. Throughout past installs I used 7-Zip File Manager to create my own archives when the structure of a downloaded mod is not suitable for immediate use with Wrye Bash and also to combine updates/patches to mods that are simple overwrites of components in the original mod. Any such packages used in this installation will be identifiable by "a4BAIN" (prefixing the TESNexus file ID number, if there is one). i.e. "0801 RTTv3_0_1FULL-3027-a4BAIN_CL.7z". The latest version of Wrye Bash may make this less necessary and I will revert to the original or updated downloaded archives where possible. I sort into groups and prefix all the archives/OMODS with a 4 digit number for easier sorting in Wrye Bash, OBMM and the install folders. So, I am starting all over once again. I will document my progress, update, and add more detail over time with links to the files used (sourced here at TESNexus where possible). To begin with, my base game is the Steam TES4:Oblivion GoTY, and my Operating System is WindowsXP 64-Bit Professional. My Steam folder and all my games are installed on a different drive than my operating system. My hardware is a couple of years old: Intel Q9650 Quad core CPU @ 3GHz; 8GB DDR2-800 (PC2 6400) (was 4GB until this month); ATI HD5870 2GB; 2x SSD drives. Updates will be indicated with green text. ======================== ==GAME== Steam TES4:Oblivion GoTY (includes all DLCs). Vanilla game restored from a backup copy. With reference to TESIV:POSItive Complete Installation Guide, Step #2 ========================================================= ======================== ==PREINSTALL== ======================== 00 CLEANED DLC ESPS (I use a .7z archive I made earlier, containing the cleaned esps). 01 OBSE 0020 : Must have to run scripts. Note: "Enable Steam Community In-Game" is required for OBSE to work. 02 Pluggy Dev v132 : Must have for some mods. 03 OBMM Extended 10-12-24 : If you to create/install OMODs (.exe installer requires Admin rights). 04 WryePython 03a or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) : One of these is required for Wrye Bash, depending upon which Wrye Bash install you want to use. (Installers require Admin rights) 05 Wrye Bash 291 : Must have for BAIN installers & Bashed Patch. I tried 292 but found it had too many bugs for my liking. 06 BOSS 1.7 : Must have for mod load order sorting (.exe installer requires Admin rights). 07 TES4Edit 3.0.15 EXPERIMENTAL : Must have for cleaning mods & finding conflicts. 08 TES4Gecko 15.2 : Sometimes usefull. 09 Nifskope 1.0.22.8329d39 : Sometimes usefull. 10 TESConstructionSet 1.2.404 : Usefull when creating your own mods. 11 BulkFileChanger 1.02 : Used to change file dates. 12 TES4LODGen 3.0.15 EXPERIMENTAL 13a python-2.6.6.msi (Installer requires Admin rights) 13b blender-2.49b-windows.exe (Installer requires Admin rights) 13c PyFFI-2.1.9.c1c1c66.win32.exe (Installer requires Admin rights) 13d Oblivion - PyFFI Optimization Kit v7 At this point I launch the game and the launcher detects my video card, then click the "Data Files" and activate the DLCs and click "Options" to put in my preferences. Next is "Play" to get to the Main Menu where I adjust the rest of the settings and controls. This creates a new Oblivion.ini (I deleted the contents of My Games/Oblivion/ folder after backing it up). I then exit and perform some tweaks to Oblivion.ini as per TESIV:POSItive Oblivion.ini Tweaks (most of these are done using Wrye Bash). Tip: Download Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide (I choose the Optional files - WBPG - Complete JPGs) Unpack and study them. They cover a lot of recent changes to Wrye Bash. Here is another good link for BAIN information I now start Wrye Bash and adjust settings & check ini tweaks. Tip: Create a desktop shortcut for Wrye Bash. The "Target:" should be something like C:\Python26\pythonw.exe "D:\STEAM\steamapps\common\oblivion\Mopy\bash.py"and "Start in:" D:\steam\steamapps\common\oblivion\MopyFor an an icon D:\STEAM\steamapps\common\oblivion\Mopy\images\bash_32.icoSee the wiki for more Wrye Bash installation info. Wrye Bash MOD tab & INSTALLER tab settings... - 1. Leave "Lock Times" on when popup asks. - 2. Go to Mods tab. - 3. Right-click the column header and check that the following are selected. + "Auto-ghost" + "Lock times" *1 + "Boss Disable Lock Times" + "Always Update BOSS Masterlist prior to running BOSS." - 4. Go to Installers tab. - 5. Right-click the column header and check that the following are selected. + "Avoid at Startup" + "Enabled" + "Auto-Anneal" + "Auto-Refresh Projects" + "BSA Redirection" + "Clean Data Directory" + "Show Lower Conflicts" + "Enable installation of OBSE plugins" *1 This setting prevents the load order being changed and requires the "Boss disable lock times" be selected for BOSS to adjust the load times. BOSS 1.7 has a different install path than earlier versions and is not found by Wry Bash 291 and earlier. There should be no problems having "Lock Times" on if using Wrye Bash up to 291 with BOSS up to 1.65 or Wrye Bash 292 with BOSS 1.7. However, when using Wrye Bash 192 with BOSS 1.7, BOSS can't be activated from within Wrye Bash so "Lock Times" should be tured off. Wrye Bash "INI Edits" tab selections... Note:Plus a few I created myself... Allow Scripted Autosave, Disabled [Oblivion].ini (Disables autosave during starter tutorial) Allow Scripted Autosave, ~Enabled [Oblivion].ini Controls, a4 Numpad [Oblivion].ini Controls, ~Default [Oblivion].ini ShadowMapResolution, 512 [Oblivion].ini I also edited "Autosave, ~Always [Oblivion].ini" & "Autosave, Never [Oblivion].ini" to include "bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=1" and "bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=0" respectively. Then I do a couple of hand edits to Oblivion.ini.. [Archive] SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa^ ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated! [Interface] fDlgFocus=6.3000^ Gives a more realistic distance when talking to NPCs And then copy to the Saves folder any vanilla game saves I want to use. Run BOSS Now I launch Oblivion and start a new game, playing through to the end of Emperor Uriel Septim's intro sequence in the prison cell and exit once I can move again. I also load a few vanilla game saves at various locations throughout the game world. No crashes means things are all good so far. The game is likely to crash every time you exit, until the FastExit utility is installed (see next section ==UTILITIES==). Note: If the game crashes when you attempt to start it, check your sound card's settings. My Xonar DX needs to have DSP modes (i.e. GX) turned off or Oblivion crashes at launch. Update: I you are using the latest version of Wrye Bash (292), you can skip this step as the issue with Wrye Bash's "ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa" appears to have been fixed. If, like me, you are using Wrye Bash 291 or earlier, you may want to read this: Note: Wrye Bash 292 Bugs I can't deselect "UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp" in the Esp/m filter pane. "Deselect all" doesn't do it either. Version 292 also doesn't remember selections made in the Esp/m pane when you deselect multiple choice options, so you can't make "01 xx" .esp choices, deselect the "01 xx" section, select the "02 xx" section, make choices there, then go back and reselect "00 xx" section. You have to make all the selections at once from the Esp/m pane with all the .esp files in there. Backup shaders: Create a 7-Zip archive of the vanilla "Shaders" folder (found in "Data" folder). I do the same for the "Videos" and "Music" folders. ========================================================= =============================== =uFCOM PREPARATION= =============================== ========================================================= --------------- #1: Create Fran 4.5b BAIN package as per "Fran 4.5b - Convert" instructions at TESIV:POSItive - S2B: Make FCOM Components BAIN-Ready Selections made during the temporary Fran.exe installations: Next, unpack Optimised_Items_pack-34830.7z into \Bash Installers\Fran 4.5b\data\ folder, overwriting the BSA, then rename "FraNewItems.bsa" to "FCOM_Convergence_FraNewItems.bsa". I created "0801 Fran-4_5b-for_uFCOM-a4BAIN.7z" then moved it up to the "Bash Installers" folder and uninstalled the two Frans .exes. --------------- #2: Create OOO 1.33 BAIN package as per "OOO 1.33 - Convert" instructions at TESIV:POSItive - S2B: Make FCOM Components BAIN-Ready I deleted 6x random "Thumbs.db" from the unpacked original archive folders and created "0802 OOO_133_Complete-a4BAIN.7z". I also downloaded the OOO 134 Beta 5 Patch, "OOO_134_Beta_5_Patch-15256.7z" --------------- #3: Create Oblivion WarCry BAIN package as per "OWC - Convert" instructions at TESIV:POSItive - S2B: Make FCOM Components BAIN-Ready I deleted 4x random "Thumbs.db" from the unpacked archive folders and created "0803 Oblivion_WarCry-1_09-a4BAIN.7z". Note: I also have "0803 OblivionWarCry109+BSA-a4BAIN.7z" which I created for my previous install (has "Oblivion WarCry EV.esp" & "Oblivion WarCry EV.bsa") --------------- #4: Create MMM 3.73b BAIN package as per "MMM 3.73b - Convert" instructions at TESIV:POSItive - S2B: Make FCOM Components BAIN-Ready I replaced the "Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife.esp" in the "02 Modifiers" folder with the one from MMMDiverseWaterLifeUpdate.7z and created "0808 MMM37b3PR+pF-for_uFCOM-a4BAIN.7z". --------------- (OPTIONAL) #5: Create COBL Cosmetic Resources BAIN package (Only needed if you activate Cobl Races). I created "0809 Cobl_Cosmetics_Res_01-a4BAIN.7z". I have not found a guide for this, so you will have to decipher my instructions (assuming you think it is worth the hassle). --------------- #6: Create FCOM_Convergence_Beta9.9 BAIN package as per "FCOM Convergence 9.9 - Convert" instructions at TESIV:POSItive - S2B: Make FCOM Components BAIN-Ready I deleted 3x random "Desktop.ini" & 6x "Thumbs.db" from the unpacked original archive folders and created "FCOM_Convergence_Beta_9dot9-a4BAIN-12249.7z". Next, I added uFCOM update, creating "FCOM_ConvergenceB99+uFCOM-a4BAIN.7z". And the FCOM WarCry109 update, creating "FCOM_ConvergenceB99+uFCOM+WC109-a4BAIN.7z" --------------- #7: Download MOBS/OMOBS 2.0 and any of the optional files you want in the FCOM Install Order list at the top of this post. I chose "OMOBS Shivering Isles" because I will be installing OOO and my Steam version of the game includes SI. --------------- Place all the Installer archives in the \Oblivion Mods\Bash Installers\ folder This is my Installers List ========================================================= ========================= =CLEANING MODS= ========================= ========================================================= I decided to clean mods with TES4Edit, using the method described at ElderScrolls Cleaning Guide Unpacked each archive, cleaned the esp file(s), overwrote the uncleaned esps with cleaned esps, repacked, appending "_CL" at the end of archive names. I will repeat this process for each group of mods that I install. ========================================================= =========================================== =OPTIMISING MESHES WITH PyFFI= =========================================== ========================================================= After reading oblivionmodwiki PyFFI and the instructions in the description for Oblivion - PyFFI Optimization Kit v7, I made my first attempt at optimising the default meshes within the .bsa files that came with the game. At this point there is not yet a "Meshes" folder in the "\oblivion\Data\" folder. That seems to have been successful. If anyone is interested, the log files are here. I now go through my install list and PyFFI each mod that has meshes, 7-zip the results into an archive for each mod. When all are done, I start the actual installation. That took about 20 hours to complete (including the Oblivion & DLC .bsa files). Here's my methods explained... This is what my Install List looks like now.. Some have two of each number, the ones with "+ PyFFI_" in the name contain the optimised .bsa/mesh files for the mod immediately above it. I will be installing those in sequence, overwriting the .bsa/mesh files with optimised versions. A couple will ONLY have the optimised versions installed, as they contain the same number of meshes as the unoptimised versions (e.g. "0101 Operation_Optimization_1_1_1-BAIN-22170" "0102+ PyFFI_Optimised_Distant_Land_MAX_1_1-15278"). Without any doubt, PyFFI optimising meshes is the single most effective method of improving performance (or preventing loss of performance) that I have found. It greatly reduces the memory overheads for Oblivion.exe and directly affects FPS. I recommend PyFFIing all meshes with one exception: Body replacer mods (including skeletons). PyFFIing those can lead to partial or fully matt-black corpses. ========================================================= ========================== ==THE INSTALL== ========================== ========================================================= ==00 UTILITIES== 0001 FastExit_2-22410.zip 0002 OSR_4-1-24_RC-23208-1.zip 0003 MenuQue_v9a-32200-1.zip 0004 Super_Hotkeys_054-22326.zip The default additional wheel keys can be edited in "\oblivion\Data\sr_super_hotkeys.ini" using DEC values from DirectX_Key_Scancodes.txt 0005 Reset_Your_Status_Page.zip 0006 OBSE_-Elys-_USV_v93-a4BAIN-16622.7z This is a BAIN archive I created from the download. -edit- 0007 Actor_details_1p3-29127.7z For repairing Character stats and/or examining NPC inventories. 0008 ConScribe_90-26510.zip For printing console output to a text file during troubleshooting. -endedit- Note: Regarding Streamline 3.1, I used this performance mod for almost a year. I recently tested it with a heavily modified game and concluded that it is not worth installing again. For me, performance took a big hit once Mesh Replacers, RAEVWD, & Quest mods were installed. Memory usage went up by about 20% and fps went way down. No adjustments to Streamline (I went as far as disabling all it's features except the purge) made much difference. However, deactivating the Streamline esp immediately resulted in reduced memory usage and improved fps. Fine tuning Oblivion Stutter Remover and tweaking oblivion.ini settings will produce far better results than Streamline does. Activate the mods & Run BOSS I repeat the "play new game to the end of Emperor Uriel Septim's intro sequence until I can move" test, and then some vanilla game saves at various locations (as I do at the end of every group of mod installs). ========================================================= ==01 LARGE MESH REPLACERS== Note: This is where my previous installation order came to grief regarding conflicts. Some of these mods conflict with UOP meshes and would overwrite them, so I moved this group up the install order and placed them before the UOPs. Last time, after installing them, I went down the list "Annealing" all the mods they conflicted with. If they are installed in this position, that is no longer an issue. 0100 Bomret's Texture Pack SI 1_0-a4BAIN.7z Conflicts: (higher) Operation_Optimization, UOPv3.2.0, ISIPv1.4.0, UPSupplementals. 0101 0501 Operation_Optimization_1_1_1-BAIN-22170.7z Conflicts: (higher) UOPv3.2.0, ISIPv1.4.0, UPSupplementals. 0102 0502 Optimised_Distant_Land_MAX_1_1-15278.rar I chose "50 Percent Optimised Distant Land" Conflicts: (higher) UOPv3.2.0, Valenwood_Improved, ElsweyrAnequinaV3, ElsweyrAnequina Optional Files 0103 QTP3Redimized.zip + QTP3R-Patch.7z = "QTP3Redimized+Patch-a4BAIN.7z" Conflicts: (higher) UOPv3.2.0, UPSupplementals. 0103a QTP3R-Reduced_Lite-26038.7z Conflicts: (lower) QTP3R : (higher) UOPv3.2.0. Reverting and installing ==00 UTILITIES== (OBSE mods) before installing ==02 UNOFFICIAL PATCHES== fixed it. Probably the Fast2Exit mod. Activate the mods & Run BOSS Start game and test (there is no need to build a Bashed Patch yet). Backup: \My Games\Oblivion folder, \oblivion (game) folder, \Oblivion Mods folder. =========================================================
  5. Frankly, we're surprised you're even able to watch this video. Contains enough truisms to amuse/annoy all.
  6. Not exactly what the OP asked for but here's one I made..... http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35219 Purchase spell to summon a mount for 10 minutes. Isn't invisible, doesn't disappear when you dismount. Follows you real close if you walk. Can't go through doors but can be summoned anywhere.
  7. Hi Zaelers, you could learn how to use Wrye Bash and it's Bashed Patch. I'm a late-comer too and am in the process of changing as many of the 175 mods I am using to BAIN installers for Wrye Bash. 10 to go and I have fully merged (with TES4Gecko) about a dozen in those 165 so far. I found out that Wrye Bash is absolutely essential in order to use the overhauls and other complex mods I want (Frans, OOO, WarCry, Bobs Armory, MMM, COBL, uFCOM). Here's the tools I use... # Name Install Method Info 01 WryePython EXE Requirement for Wrye Bash (Need Admin rights to install) 02 Wrye Bash EXE Effortless install. Turn "Lock Times" off when asked on first run after install. 03 OBMM EXE (Requires Admin rights to install) Wrye Bash has internal button. 04 OBSE MANUAL Copy obse_x_x_xxx.dll, obse_editor_x_x.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. Copy the obse_loader.exe from the OBSE ZIP into the Oblivion directory. Steam users do not need to use the EXE, but some OMOD scripts check for it. "Enable Steam Community In-Game" is required for OBSE to work. 05 Pluggy MANUAL Extract "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dlx" and "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll" to "Oblivion Install Directory\Data\OBSE\Plugins\". If you don't have an "..\OBSE\Plugins\" directory, create one. 06 TES4Edit/TES4View MANUAL 1.Extract the archive into your Oblivion folder. 2.Duplicate the executable, and rename the copy TES4View.exe. >> notes: TES4View.exe is the view-only version Wrye Bash has internal button. 07 TES4Gecko MANUAL Extract the TES4Gecko 15.2 folder anywhere e.g. \Oblivion Mods\ folder. Create a shortcut to TES4Gecko.jar 08 TES4LODGen MANUAL Extract to Oblivion folder. Create a shortcut to TES4LODGen.exe Wrye Bash has internal button. 09 BOSS MANUAL Extract BOSS.bat, BOSS.exe, masterlist.txt to \oblivion\Data\ folder run .bat file NOT .exe. Update masterlist.txt frequently. Wrye Bash has internal button. 10 TES Construction Set EXE (Requires Admin rights to install) Wrye Bash has internal button. 11 Oblivion Content Validator Checks the following folders: "textures", "meshes", "sounds" and all the subfolders. Every .dds texture, every ".nif" mesh and every sound file that should override the default ones is added to the ArchiveInvalidation.txt. Google should find you all of those, it did for me.
  8. Well, I solved my problem by creating a new .esp that uses copies of the hires textures and then merged it into the bashed patch. Although they didn't have a specific esp, I still don't understand why the textures in the previous bashed patch weren't being rendered.
  9. Which "Oblivion patch"? I'm having an issue with missing nipples on original races females. The nips are on Coreans and Ren's Elves, and TES4Edit shows my bashed patch is pointing to the correct hirez textures but those textures aren't the ones that are being rendered for original races.
  10. While I predominantly use the Unified\Full Cities & IC (less .esps), I do very much like the option to use modular apects if and when working out compatiblity issues and fiddling around with other mods, especially quests. While you cover a large number of these (including all the major ones) I do not expect full compatibility with all mods, so I like having the fall-back options that modularity offers.
