are the mods still in the data folder ? cos its likely that when you installed the dlc the .ini was refreshed if that was the case the archive invalidation text line would be missing thus preventing any mods from working , using your mod manager toggle archive invalidation give that a whirl and prey cos im all out of ideas .

davycrockett replied to zFrenzyy's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
zFrenzyy a couple of questions , are you using a custom race for either the p.c. or the npc's ? cos theres a well documented "bug" with broken steel and custom races a fix for it was uploaded its called Custom Race Endings Broken Steel OverRide by Laffie get it here http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/6240 also what OS are you running is it windows 7 per chance ? -
Corrupt Mod Downloads

chances are your web browser/s don't like the new code in use by the nexus try another and see if that helps . -
glouch one thing , put the hammer down and slowly back away from the pc ! no mention of steam so its a disc version then ! well if that's the case its sounds like your game hasn't unpacked correctly , could be due to damaged disc or optical drive ! or the wrong type of drive ie trying to install from a dvd using a cd drive it will read some files but not all ( check what cd/dvd player is in your machine ) then there is the fact that FO3 is INCOMPATIBLE with windows 7 ( use of compatibility mode is MS's answer ) both bethesda and microsoft say so .

Random Crash during play
davycrockett replied to darkmage0707077's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
are you aware that both esp's and esm's can both be types of master files , just to clarify esm elder scroll master file esp elder scrolls plugin . Any given esp can be dependant on both esm's and esp's all mods are obviously dependant on fallout new vegas ESM but a mod may also require another specific esp file like a merged patch or a compatibility patch for example . mod managers use templates to determine your load order based upon data gathered from users but are not always right ! this is due to the fact that there's how many mods on the nexus and how many possible combinations . which is why it is best only used as a rough guide ultimately you have to decide which mod you want to be the dominant force ( conflict winner ) now you mention terrain textures which ones NMC's per chance wouldn't be ultra super duper high res would it ? and you say draw distance ? have you been tweaking the .ini's ? or have you put in high res texture packs and not optimized the .ini to compensate for additional load ? -
Random Crash during play
davycrockett replied to darkmage0707077's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
so is the game working , i use that word loosely as in back to square one ? cos if all system and hardware drivers are up to date and steam says all is good it can only leave mods now did you read the "read me" file for each mod im wondering if you have any there which are missing their masters ? FNVedit wont highlight this issue only conflicts but your mod manager will tell you which mods are needed to run any highlighted mod ,it will list them for your convenience have you checked all of them ? but if you have already run FNVedit with no obvious suspects id suggest deactivating all mods and starting a new game for the sake of the testing process if it starts behaving again then fingers shall point towards mods . "The procedure entry point D3DPERF_SetOptions could not be located in the dynmaic link library d3d9.dll", if it that ones still an issue , at a guess id say reinstall directX . -

ok great were back in business ,but expect stability issues it always happens with a ton of mods like you have I'm gonna suggest FNVedit download it from the nexus and also grab the tutorial by Gopher its user friendly , informative and an invaluable tool also be sure to thank Gopher and ElminsterAU for their respective works . video ; http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43195 ( Modding Fallout NV Tutorial - Part 5 - FNVEdit ) check out the rest of his videos some good stuff utility ; http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34703 ( FNVedit ) your gonna be looking to create a merged patch to iron out any conflicts and your load order may need tweaking , I'm not gonna be much help with load order as I'm outta touch with FNV mods but don't worry with a little time effort and the two downloads above it's easy . -
What poses a greater threat to the gaming industry?
davycrockett replied to lengelb's topic in PC Gaming
I'v been doing a little digging and found a great article on Bohemia and their approach to tackling piracy and the DRM called DEGRADE which they use. Its well worth a read and frankly i don't feel so hard done by now but the likes of steam and tages can still take running jump , you might even get a giggle or two from it I did . www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/17/interview-bohemia-interactives-ceo-on-fighting-piracy-creative-drm -

New Worldspace Water Trouble
davycrockett replied to DoctaAwesome's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
i think you need to extract "water noise" file from .bsa archive then direct your mod to it via the geck your gonna have to do more research yourself as its been a long time since i messed with world spaces and all this kind of info on the geck is available through Bethesda tutorial site google it . -
Runtime C++ Library Error
davycrockett replied to spooky760's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
ok what about NVSE how many of your mods require it , doesn't Nevada skies need it ? now you are up to date with NVSE aren't you and i see you have a couple of Euclid mods now i remember a while back i had issues with a weather mod and a Euclid mod which conflicted they altered the same record i always got a repeatable crash whenever i used the weapon near Helios one that is a possibility although not very likely given your issue . but if you haven't already check the version you have and the required version for any mods which need it . i emphasise NVSE due to its interactions with the games .exe which is flagged in your original post "Program...)steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\FalloutNV.exe blah blah " focus on that and see what occurs ,and don't panic if my response is slow im not gonna abandon you im having internet issues my end . -

ita "Be very careful about asking about ways to bypass copy protection, in most cases it's illegal and not allowed on these forums." yes I'm well aware of the T&C's and no I'm not asking how to bypass copy protection . and i think its in all cases its illegal no point in IP otherwise . and nope its not a UAC issue its a case of windows blocking the driver required in the same way a malicious piece of software is blocked ,guess i know why it was £4.50 on amazon now the LEGAL copy i have simply will not run without the driver that windows blocked but if steam support it surely they wouldn't install that same driver to clients machines ...would they , so there has to be some sort of way to run a LEGAL copy with some sort of LEGAL replacement for this particular driver , is that clear enough to suggest I'm not attempting to pirate a £4.50 game . but thanks all the same . Halororor funny i was starting to have similar thoughts

why not a stalker forum i hear you ask , iv already searched for answers and thought i might get lucky by asking people with brains instead of long john silver and his chum blue beard. so its a simple question iv got clear sky now this game uses a particularly nasty piece of DRM thats deeply embedded into the games code , so nasty infact windows instantly blocked it and attempted to provide a solution thats just a dead end the reason given is that it " causes system instability " now given iv just re-installed for that exact reason start up problems to be precise which caused much butt pain id have to be insane to install this tages driver and let it all happen again ! so do you know of a fix , patching the game to latest version just brings me back to same issue tage blocked no worky now there is only one known legal fix and thats to add the game to steam but i wont do that for three reasons, 1. i don't like / want steam on this pc its yet more DRM 2. kinda defeats the purpose of buying a retail/nonsteam game doesn't it 3. chances are they will just install the offending driver and send me over the edge and the publishers/developers just stand fast behind their product claiming its flawless ! so any help or suggestions would be great.

Runtime C++ Library Error
davycrockett replied to spooky760's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
ok then this ones a real butt hurter eh , lets poke the games.exe with a stick . have you tried verify the games cache on steam ,steam library>FNV>properties>local files(i think) >verify should come back with a message about one missing file if all is good do you have NVSE this hooks the FNV.exe might be the cause too try removing it just to rule it out and you might also have to remove any mods depedent on it as without it they could also cause a crash assuming that is you have mods and NVSE if you do is the NVSE version you are using the correct one for the mod/mods ? also post your load order ,export it via your mod manager . -
I can't play, please help!
davycrockett replied to Thepieintheface's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
seriously now was that a genuine typo or are you just messing ? "The game installed, but did not place the files on my computer (as far as i know) " default location of fo3 should be C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3 non steam copy if its steam it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common \ try these two just a hunch what os are you on and what version of the game/games do you have ? -
Runtime C++ Library Error
davycrockett replied to spooky760's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
"Runtime C++ Library" otherwise known as visual studios C+ redistibutable or VCred update that too as for DX just download for your O/S vista xp 7 what ever and run the program it will do the rest this is just to eliminate and ensure your all up to date and if these two "fixes" have no effect we start looking else where . -

Pink body glitch
davycrockett replied to Protagonist7's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
"Does anyone know what causes a pink texture glitch...or better yet, how to fix it? " your already half way there ,you have identified the problem ! could be as simple as not having the textures needed or that they are in the wrong place or if you have edited a race you may well have made a simple boo boo (editing of stats S.P.E.C.I.A.L. etc has no effect over body part data ) ,check the original file structure in the mod you downloaded ensure you have duplicated the structure exactly into your data folder , ensure you have ARCHIVE INVALIDATION activated easily done via FOMM or NMM mod managers . post back if none of the above doesn't work or you need a clearer explanation .
